Spillane leads late Kerry blitz

Report from the Irish Independent newspaper

KERRY 0-15 CLARE 0-9 – 06 MAY 2013

Kerry’s blitz of four unanswered points in the final five minutes finally saw off a gallant Clare outfit in Tralee. The Kingdom led 0-9 to 0-3 at half-time having played with the wind, thanks to three pointed frees from Jack Savage, three points from Conor Keane and two from Killian Spillane. However, Clare took over around the middle third in the second period and closed the gap to just two points 0-11 to 0-9, with Eimhin Courtney, Paddy O’Malley and Barry Keating on target. But Kerry finished strongly, with two points from Spillane in that late flurry, to secure a flattering six-point win, and now face a home semi-final against Waterford.
