Boyle completes Kerry revival

Kerry 2-17 London 1-18

Allianz NHL Division 2A

Report from the Irish Independent newspaper

Kerry full-forward Padraig Boyle fired a 66th-minute goal to snatch a thrilling victory over London at Ruislip. Boyle punished a tiring Exiles defence to preserve the Kingdom’s 100pc record and maintain momentum heading into their final date with Carlow on April 5.

With their place in next month’s decider already assured, Kerry boss Eamonn Kelly made nine changes for the trip to London and it almost proved a costly decision. London grabbed a deserved goal on 18 minutes when Martin Duggan’s deft pass played in Henry Vaughan, and the Clare-born forward cracked a low shot home.

Kerry trailed by 1-10 to 0-8 at the break, and London enjoyed a seven-point lead at the midway point of the second half, but substitute Shane Nolan sparked a stunning revival. The Crotta O’Neill’s clubman bagged Kerry’s first goal on 51 minutes, and Boyle capped off the comeback when he confidently finished to the net.
