Allianz Football League Division 3 – Limerick 2-12 Wexford 0-14

April 10, 2011 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

At the Gaelic Grounds, Limerick took control from the start as a goal from a penalty by Ger Collins got them off to a great start and things got worse for Wexford when Daithí Walters was sent off. Seanie Buckley added a second goal for the hosts before half-time, producing a fine finish after an excellent run through the Wexford defence, and at the turnaround it was 2-7 to 0-5.

As the second half progressed, they continued to keep the Model County at arm’s length before a mini-rally by the visitors, but at the end there were still four points between the teams, Limerick triumphing by 2-12 to 0-14.

Despite the win moving them to six points, the Shannonsiders could not avoid dropping straight back down to the bottom tier for next year as Cavan beat Tipperary. There they will be joined by Waterford, whom they beat in the Division 4 final last year.
