O’Neill the star as Milford progress
By Fiona Casey for the Irish Examiner newspaper
Milford (Cork) 0-14 Granagh/Ballingarry (Limerick) 0-04
Ignore the scoreline. Milford didn’t get it all their own way in this contest. At half-time Milford led 0-6 to 0-2 with player of the match Marie O’Neill slotting over five points from play. Before the second-half, Ciarán Carey left his opponents on the pitch in the driving rain for almost five minutes, to raise his troops, but Milford drove on with the wind at their backs with points from Maria Watson, Aideen O’Flynn and Emer Watson to ensure the Thomais Mhic Dhonncha cup remains in the club for a second year in a row.
Meanwhile Newmarket-on-Fergus and Lismore must do it all again for the Intermediate title after a 2-10 apiece draw following extra time.
