All-Ireland Camogie Senior Club Championship Semi-Final – Drom & Inch (Tipperary) 1-12 Killimor (Galway) 1-7
Drom/Inch (Tipperary) 1-12 Killimor (Galway) 1-07
Report from the RTE.ie web site
Killimor’s grip on the All-Ireland Senior Club Camogie Championship is no more as Drom/Inch dominated the Galwegians at MacDonagh Park in Nenagh to book a place in this year’s final against Oulart The Ballagh. Drom/Inch held the upper hand from the moment team captain Mary Looby capitalised on some clever play by Geraldine Kinane and Niamh Harkin to goal in the seventh minute. Brenda Hanney was amongst Killimor’s best players and might have hit back in kind within a minute but with Joanne Ryan driving the Tipperary side onwards from midfield it is unlikely that even a three-pointer at that juncture would have made any difference. Indeed, the brilliance of Killimor goalkeeper Helen Campbell ensured that the final margin wasn’t much greater, while their goal, courtesy of Hanney, came much too late in the second half to threaten a comeback.
The 1-06 to 0-04 half-time scoreline was in no way flattering to Drom/Inch, with Looby, Kinane, Caitriona Shortt and Antoinette Kennedy registering points to help them gain that five-point advantage. Shortt was in scintillating form after the resumption, the corner-forward responsible for all six of her side’s points in that period. Whether it was from play, frees or 45s made no difference, as Shortt raised white flag after white flag. In contrast, it was hard work for Killimor, Martina Conroy and the industrious Hanney getting on the mark before Hanney’s late goal helped put a bit more respectability on the scoreline.
