Just when this tie was about to spring to life, the game had to be abandoned due to dense fog, at which stage Waterford IT were in front by two points. Switched from Limerick to Newtownshandrum and with the starting time changed, the sides delivered an entertaining first half and were level at the interval 1-4 to 0-7. The Limerick goal was struck by Tommy Connors before Kieran Grehan responded with a green flag of his own after 40 minutes to put Waterford IT in front 1-9 to 1-7 and both sides had two further points before referee Diarmuid Kirwan called the contest to a halt.
Note – WIT have subsequently withdrawn from the competition and UL will go on to play Cork in the semi-final.
