AIB Munster GAA Hurling Intermediate Club Championship Quarter-Final – Silvermines (Tipperary) 1-15 Ruan (Clare) 0-6
Forde’s first-half scoring spree powers Silvermines past Ruan
By Gerry Quinn for the Irish Examiner newspaper
Silvermines (Tipperary) 1-15 Ruan (Clare) 0-6
It was all so easy for Silvermines in this one-sided Munster Club IHC opener at Sixmilebridge yesterday. The Tipperary men, with Jason Forde leading the charge, sprang from the traps registering 1-3 inside the first quarter, while Ruan had to wait until the 17th minute for John Punch to open their account. Silvermines carved open the Ruan defence in the 14th minute when a cross from Daniel Keogh found Ford in acres of space for the game’s only goal.
At half-time the North Tipperary outfit deservedly led 1-8 to 0-3 with Forde claiming 1-4 of that tally. In the second period Silvermines tagged on a number of scores against a disappointing Clare representatives who lost Aidan Lynch to a second yellow card.
