Waterford Crystal Cup Preliminary Round – Kerry 6-17 IT Tralee 0-12
Experimental Kerry on song
By Jordan Murphy for the Irish Examiner newspaper
Kerry 6-17 IT Tralee 0-12
A new-look Kerry senior hurling side crushed IT Tralee in this Waterford Crystal Cup in Abbeydorney. The Kingdom featured two of last year’s All-Ireland MBHC winning side, Brendan O’Leary and Daniel Collins into their attack, and both impressed. Two early Shane Nolan goals handed Kerry a perfect start before Collins netted twice to fire the county side to a 4-6 to 0-9 interval lead. The second half continued in a similar fashion with Mark Deegan one of the few to shine for the under pressure Tralee side. Further goals from ex Kilkenny star Willie O’Dwyer (2) and sub Sean Maunsell completed the rout.
