Evan Niland hit 0-9 as Galway advanced past the challenge of Limerick in this afternoon’s Electric Ireland All-Ireland minor hurling quarter-final. Niland bagged five first half points and added four after the break as the Westerners set up an All-Ireland semi-final clash with Kilkenny on August 9.
Jack Grealish scored the crucial Galway goal in the 36th minute and while Limerick battled gamely to the finish, getting back to within three points in the final minute, sub Cianan Fahy slotted over the insurance score. Galway were a point clear at half-time, 0-9 to 0-8, but Limerick would have been reasonably happy after playing against the breeze in greasy conditions.
Galway led by five points – 0-9 to 0-4 – before Limerick hit four unanswered points before half-time.
