Waterford defeated Carlow by 1-9 to 0-9 in round 7 of the Allianz Football League Division 4 on Sunday April 6th at Fraher Field, Dungarvan.
O Lionain to fore in late Deise burst

Liam o LionAin and Shane Ahearne led a late scoring injection to secure Waterford’s second win of the campaign at Fraher Field. Carlow held a two-point lead with 15 minutes left before the home side reeled off five without reply.
O Lionain grabbed 1-3 in all and Ahearne impressed for the home side in midfield and full-forward. Waterford led by 1-2 to 0-1 after 16 minutes. Captain Shane Briggs opened the scoring before O Lionain blazed in a goal. Lorcan O Corraoin tagged on a point. Paul Broderick then slotted four frees and a ’45’ as the visitors levelled the scoreline at 1-2 to 0-5.
Cathal Coughlan landed Carlow’s first from play and Broderick sent in his seventh successful placed ball to put them two clear (0-9 to 1-4) on 55 minutes. Waterford then hit five on the trot; O Lionain accounted for two with Shane Ahearne, JJ Hutchinson and Michael O’Gorman also on target.
