CLARE secured their first brace of league points when they crushed Kilkenny in Saturday’s Allianz NFL Division Four tie at Miltown Malbay. A 28 points difference at the final whistle indicated the gulf in class between the sides as the hosts took control from the opening minute after full-forward Cathal O’Connor had the ball in the net. Clare led 3-6 to 0-1 at the break with O’Connor and Shane Brennan both netting. The visitors pulled one back through substitute Michael Duggan early in the second period, but Clare dominated throughout and goals by Alan Clohessy and Shane Brennan in the 62nd minute sealed a facile victory.
