Few would argue that on form over the past 12 months, these are the best and most consistent teams in the country. That said, for all that this is Galway’s third final in that period, they lost the other two – the All-Ireland to Cork and the League to Tipperary, by the minimum.

There were only three points between them and the Rebels last August and they were level down the stretch. Winning at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh when needing to, to qualify, has to be a boost, though Cork were already qualified and have recalled some star power in the meantime. Still, is there ever much between these two? No. Do Galway fear Cork? No. Expect it to be in doubt until the closing stages once again.
