Report By John Keogh in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale for RTE.ie

Wexford made it two wins from two in Division 4 of the Allianz Football League after seeing off Limerick on a 0-17 to 0-13 scoreline at Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale.

Sean Nolan was the key man for John Hegarty’s side with 0-08 in a superb performance that included a two-point free in the second half.

Pairic Hughes also popped up with a two-pointer in a game they dominated in the second half. Limerick had led by a point at half time.

James Naughton and Nolan traded frees in the opening five minutes. However, two further placed balls from Naughton then had Limerick two points clear.

A superb Niall Hughes score brought Limerick’s lead back to one, before Nolan was denied a goal by a smart Josh Ryan save on 16 minutes.

Nolan made amends moments later to level the contest at 0-03 each but a well-taken two-pointer from Emmet Rigter put Limerick two up.

Nolan and Rigter were the dominant players in the opening half and a point each had the score at 0-06 to 0-04 in Limerick’s favour in the lead up to half time.

The same duo repeated the trick again, before a ’45 from Wexford keeper Colum Feeney saw the score at 0-07 to 0-06 at the break.

Wexford were aided by a stiffening breeze in the second half and squared the game up through Kevin O’Grady but Naughton replied to keep Limerick on the front foot.

However, a superb Mark Rossiter point levelled the contest for a fourth time and then Nolan’s two pointer put Wexford into the lead they never looked like losing.

Naughton did reply on several occasions but Wexford continued to keep the scoreboard kicking over with Pairic Hughes’ two-pointer proving crucial in the 54th minute.

Limerick did have a goal chance late on to level the game but Rigter’s low shot was bravely blocked by Michael Furlong and Wexford cruised to victory.
