Allianz HL D1: Limerick overpower Offaly
LIMERICK 4-29 OFFALY 0-17
Limerick finished their Allianz Hurling League Division 1A campaign on a high with a very convincing victory over Offaly.
They had far too much firepower for the battling midlanders, with Oisin O’Reilly, Cian Lynch, Barry Nash, and Pat Ryan all hitting the back of the net.
Offaly made it as difficult for the All-Ireland champions as they could and fought to the finish, but the John Kiely’s team just had too much pace, power, and finishing ability for them.
It was O’Reilly who struck the first goal of the match after 11 minutes after being put clear by O’Donovan who himself then put Limerick six points up with a really well worked sore of his own.
Limerick lead by 1-16 to 0-10 at the interval, and then upped through the gears during the second-half to take complete control.
They hit five points without replay before Lynch struck for the second goal of the match put further daylight between the teams.
The men in green then finished with a flourish as Nash and substitute Ryan struck late goals to seal an impressive 24-point victory.
