The Munster leg of the Wheelchair Hurling League took place at St Marys Secondary School Newport Co. Tipperary on Saturday 14th September.
Teams from the four provinces took part in the event. Newport GAA Club were involved in the organising of the event through Cora Moroney and they also provided a Guard of honour for the visiting teams through their underage players. This was very much appreciated by the visiting teams and the organisers of the event.
Kevin Cusack, Principal of St Marys School facilitated the event taking place in his school and provided great assistance in the lead up to the event. We thank James Collins, Chairperson, Newport GAA Club, Tim Floyd Secretary of Tipperary County Board and Ger Ryan Vice Chairperson Munster Council for taking the time to visit the event on Saturday and speak to the teams and visitors.
We also thank Tipperary Hurler Sean O’Brien and Limerick Camogie Players Niamh and Judith Mulcahy from nearby Ahane for visiting the school during the event. The event was an outstanding success and all visiting teams and supporters were loud in their praise of the welcome and hospitality provided in Newport.
