By Murt Murphy for the Irish Examiner newspaper
Causeway CS completed a glorious four-in-a-row when defeating Roscrea VS in the Munster Vocational JAHC final at a wet and windy Croagh onSaturday. Roscrea had the elements in the first-half and took early control. Wing forward Sam Conlon hit 1-3 in the opening quarter before Causeway’s Paudie O’Connor began to negate his threat. At the break Roscrea led 1-6 to 0-4. Slowly, Causeway began to reel in the Tipperary men with Philip Lucid impressing from placed balls while an inspirational point from Paudie O’Carroll had them level (0-9 to 1-6) with five minutes to go. Then in a rare attack Roscrea’s Sam Conlon gave his side a 59th minute lead — their only score of the half, but Causeway were not to be denied and a fortuitous 61st minute goal from Jack Goulding sealed the win.
