Allianz Hurling League Division 2A – Kerry 2-22 Wicklow 1-12
Solid Brick stars as Kerry off the mark
Kerry 2-22 Wicklow 1-12
By Mark Kennedy for the Irish Examiner newspaper
Kerry put their troubles behind them yesterday when they travelled to Aughrim to pick up the first points of the league. The Kingdom players did not appear to be unsettled by the row that raged in the county all week following manager John Meyler’s decision to drop three of the four Boyle brothers. In a tight first quarter, Paddy Farrell and Shane Nolan swapped goals but Kerry’s crispness came to the fore and in corner-forward Shane Brick, they had a match winner. Wicklow were only four points adrift, 1-10 to 1-6 at the break, but Kerry pulled away in the second half and Shane Nolan added a second goal to his three points.
