Brosnan fires up Wexford
From the Irish Independent newspaper
Wexford 4-11 Waterford 2-6
Monday February 07 2011
BEN BROSNAN sparkled with two smashing goals as Wexford got off to the most impressive of starts at Wexford Park. Despite finding it difficult to settle playing with a gale-force first-half wind, they led 1-9 to 0-2 at the interval, with the goal coming from debutant full-forward Kevin O’Grady in injury-time. When the visitors struck for their opening goal from Tommy Prendergast after 52 minutes, it seemed a revival was on, particularly when Patrick Hurney added a second goal three minutes later, leaving it 2-11 to 2-3. But Wexford were making better use of possession and they responded with Brosnan’s second goal on 62 minutes. Four minutes from the end Ciaran Lyng added a splendid fourth goal.
