The death occurred at his home in Ballytigue, Bruree, County Limerick on August 20th, 2020 of former Limerick, All-Ireland winning hurler Jim O’Brien.
Jim gave outstanding service to his beloved Bruree, Limerick and Munster. Although playing most of his hurling at corner-back, he was very versatile as he proved in the 1963 All-Ireland Minor Final, when goalie Andy Dunwort got injured Jim took over guarding the goals.
He won National League and Oireachtas medals with the Treaty county in 1971 and of course an All-Ireland in 1973. Jim is the first player of the starting 73 team to pass to his eternal reward.
A quiet friendly gentleman off the field, we offer our sincere sympathy to his wife Ann, his children and grandchildren and his native Bruree.
