Munster GAA Press Release

DEATH OF JIMMY DOYLE, FORMER TIPPERARY AND MUNSTER HURLER

It was with great sadness that we have learned of the death of Jimmy Doyle, the former Thurles Sarsfields, Tipperary and Munster hurler. Comhairle na Mumhan extends its sympathy to the Doyle family and all Jimmy’s relatives and friends, his club, Thurles Sarsfields, and Tipperary GAA at this sad time. Munster Council Chairman Robert Frost paid the following tribute: “Jimmy Doyle was one of hurling’s greatest ever players. He won 9 Munster senior hurling medals with Tipperary and 8 Railway Cup medals with Munster among many other accolades including 6 All Ireland senior hurling medals. His hurling skills were unique and he wore his many achievements with great humility. He will be missed greatly by all who had the privilege of knowing him”.
