Munster Club Senior Hurling Championship

Tuesday 11 November 2008

Sarsfields (Cork) vs. Clonlara (Clare)

Sunday November 2nd at 2:00pm in Pairc Ui Chaoimh

One of the great attractions of the AIB GAA club championships is the variety of opponents it pits against each other. The opening round of this year’s Munster senior hurling campaign is a perfect example as it will bring together two clubs who haven’t won their county titles for a long time.

Sarsfields (Cork) booked their place in the Munster championship a few weeks ago when they won the county senior title for the first time in 51 years while opponents, Clonlara won the Clare title for the first time since 1919 last Sunday. Clonlara beat Newmarket-on-Fergus and will now be hoping to extend what has been a magnificent season for them with a good run in the Munster championship.

Sarsfields, for whom Cork football star, Michael Cussen scored 1-2 beat Bride Rovers by four points in the final to clinch their first county senior title since 1957.
