Dr. Harty Cup Round-up
St. Colman’s of Fermoy won the battle of the Old Firm in yesterdays Dr. Harty Cup final round clash at Feenagh, beating St. Flannan’s by 1-14 to 1-5 to top Group C. St. Colman’s had the better of the early exchanges leading at half time by 1-9 to 0-4. A Conor O’Donnell goal reduced the gap to six points early in the second half, but St. Flannan’s were unable to push on for the victory. Midfielder Anthony Cronin was star of the show for St. Colman’s with an impressive haul of 0-3 from play. St Flannans will now face Midleton CBS in a playoff for the second Group C qualification slot as both sides are level on scoring difference.
Scorers: St. Colman’s: Daniel Pyne (0-5 frees), Stephen Boyce (1-0), Darren Tobin (0-3, 0-1 free), Anthony Cronin (0-3), Daniel Dooley, Mark Flynn, Conor Hegarty (0-1 each) St. Flannan’s: Conor O’Donnell (1-1), David O’Halloran (0-2), Niall Arthur (free), Aaron Considine (free)(0-1 each)
Our Lady’s of Templemore finished runners up to De La Salle in Group B, eliminating Carrigaline Community School in a 1-13 to 0-10 victory at Mitchelstown. The sides were level 0-9 each at half time. Our Lady’s pulled three points clear mid way through the second half before Eoin Fitzpatrick scored the all-important goal to seal the victory and complete a personal haul of 1-4 from play. Midfield Eanna Murray contributed 0-6 from frees for Our Lady’s while David Drake led the way with 0-4 frees for Carrigaline and Michael O’Sullivan scored 0-3 from play.
Meanwhile confusion reigned in the Group A clash between Ard Scoil Ris vs Pobalscoil na Trionaide. The game was switched from Cahir to Goatenbridge, and was adjudicated by the Referee to have been won 4-13 to 4-12 by the Youghal side. Limerick side Ard Scoil Ris had led by 3-9 to 0-8 at half time. However the referee was surrounded after the game because of a question mark over the non-awarding of a seemingly legitimate point to Ard Scoil Ris, which would have meant the game was a draw. Elsewhere Blackwater Community School would appear to have secured first place in Group A with a comprehensive 3-19 to 0-6 victory over Colaiste an Risigh. Group D has been decided before yesterday, with Thurles CBS finishing top of the group and St Caimins go forward as runners up.
