National Football League Round 2 – Results
Tipperary 0-13 Clare 1-7 – Barry Grogan was the star of the show for Tipperary, scoring eight points as the hosts took a well earned three-point win at Ardfinnan. Clare held a 1-02 to 0-00 lead after 10 minutes, thanks to a Michael Ó Sé goal. However they were not to score again until the 43rd minute, with Tipperary equalising at half-time at 0-05 to 1-02. The sides were level on three occasions during the second half, with brothers Barry and Seamus Grogan doing most damage to ensure victory.
Wicklow 1-15 Waterford 0-12 – A 60th minute penalty goal from Paul Earls helped Wicklow to a six-point win at Fraher Field. There was little to separate the sides in this game, with Wicklow edging the lead at the interval by 0-08 to 0-07, although Gary Hurney had an injury time goal chance sent out for a ’45’ for the hosts. The sides were level on three occasions in the second half, until Earls’ goal strike and late points from Tony Hannon and Earls helped to seal the win.
