Consequently\, having been on the road since their dual senior (hurling) and intermediate (football) feats in 2009\, Cratloe admittedly possessed an aging core. They turned that perceived weakness into their biggest asset on Sunday as facing a St Breckan’s side that were competing in their first ever senior decider and the club’s first in 27 years\, Cratloe’s experience surged to the fore in a gritty victory. \nNever behind at any stage\, Cratloe’s bright start of six of the first eight points\, including three from scorer-in-chief Cathal McInerney\, helped them to a 0-6 to 0-2 advantage by the 23rd minute. \nJamie Stack did halve the deficit by the break at 0-6 to 0-4 while talisman Joe McGann would cap in with two excellent points on the restart to regain full parity at 0-6 to 0-6. \nHowever\, while Rowan Danaher somehow cleared a Podge Collins shot off the line\, Cratloe would finally make the breakthrough in more fortuitous circumstances in the 42nd minute when Cathal McInerney intercepted a St Breckan’s kick-out before instinctively lobbing goalkeeper Mark O’Donnell at 1-8 to 0-7. \nFurther glorious chances to finish the game as a contest were passed up though as Podge Collins and Diarmuid Ryan both kicked agonisingly wide of the far right post. DESCRIPTION:Thurles Sarsfields drew with Kiladangan on a scoreline of 0-22 to 1-19 in the Tipperary Senior Hurling Final on Sunday October 15th at FBD Semple Stadium Thurles. \n\nConnors equaliser means Sars and Kiladangan must do it all over again  \nKILADANGAN 1-19 THURLES SARSFIELDS 0-22  \nReport by John Fogarty for the Irish Examiner newspaper \nAn additional time point from Kiladangan substitute Willie Connors means the Tipperary senior hurling final will go to a replay for the third year in a row. \nAn Aidan McCormack 65\, his 11th point of the game\, had put Thurles into the lead at the end of normal time but Connors’ 70-metre effort earned Kiladangan another day out. \nWhile this was far from a classic in FBD Semple Stadium\, the tension was palpable throughout and the result deserving considering the sides were tied on 10 occasions. \nUp 0-11 to 0-10 at half-time\, Sarsfields continued to keep their noses in front up to the 38th minute when Seán Hayes’s third point of the day restored parity for Kiladangan. Sarsfields responded with three points on the bounce before the north men struck for a goal.  \nAfter a powerful run\, Declan McGrath found Seán Hayes who passed outside him to Paul Flynn to apply the equalising finish. \nA Billy Seymour free in the 49th minute pushed Kiladangan ahead but it only poked Sarsfields into scoring the next three points.  \nTwice\, once from a free and the second from play\, Seymour brought Kiladangan level before McCormack and Connors’ late exchange of points. \nBoth teams had purple periods in the opening half\, although the scores appeared to be coming a little easier for Sarsfields who were doing everything with urgency. With three points in succession\, they jumped into a 0-6 to 0-3 by the 13th minute. \nRonan Maher was benefitting from Cathal Maloney dropping deep\, allowing him to initiate Sarsfields’ attacks.  \nHowever\, Billy Seymour then announced himself into the game with two long-range frees as well as an assist for Hayes as Kiladangan scored four of the next five points to draw level. \nAfter a long-range Aidan McCormack effort restored Sarsfields’ lead\, Kiladangan came back with the next two to go ahead for the first time.  \nSarsfields finished the half the stronger\, though\, two of them McCormack placed balls. \nScorers for Kiladangan: B. They didn’t concede a single goal in three knockout games. \nThey trailed Midleton by six entering first-half stoppage time but had eight of the next 10 points\, led by Aaron Myers (0-12\, 8 frees) and roving corner-back Cathal McCarthy (0-4)\, who was awarded the man of the match prize. \nCaptain Conor O’Sullivan\, making his first start of the campaign\, lifted the Seán Óg Murphy in front of 11\,645 fans. \nMidleton started the brighter and were never headed throughout the first half. Brion Saunderson’s accurate puck-outs led to a couple of quickfire points for defenders Seán O’Sullivan and Tommy O’Connell and when Mikey Finn clipped a sideline\, they led 0-5 to 0-2. \nSars were nothing if not sticky opponents. They were reliant\, however\, on Myers for scores. He had seven of their nine first-half points\, three from play. His three in a row\, including a super score from midway\, took them back level. \nRoss O’Regan saw his opening brace cancelled out by two Myers frees before Midleton kicked on again. \nThey switched Conor Lehane into full-forward and he began to cause damage when given more space to exploit. The Magpies struck six in a row\, four from Lehane\, two each from frees and open play. \nHis ability to disrupt Sars’ short-passing game was key. He blocked down Paul Leopold for an O’Regan point before intercepting a Craig Leahy pass for his fifth of the day. \nSars were in taking on water but they managed to bail out a couple of buckets worth with two stoppage-time points from McCarthy and Myers. 0-13 to 0-9 at half-time. \nFormer Cork midfielder Daniel Kearney had been chasing Finn for much of the first half but he was the one who needed following on the restart. He charged into this contest by assisting three points\, two for Myers\, one for Daniel Hogan\, and landing a point of his own. \nWhen Jack O’Connor\, tightly marked by Seán O’Leary Hayes\, stole possession and pointed\, it was level\, 0-15 apiece. At the other end\, Lehane was suddenly misfiring under increased pressure\, with three wides and another free short. \nKearney wasn’t the only one helping to turn the tables around the middle. McCarthy\, wearing no. 2\, swapped with O’Sullivan to take a more advanced role and he launched two long-range levellers. \nColm McCarthy\, playing as a third midfielder\, had produced two inspiring block downs and he won a pair of frees to give Sars their first lead. Both were converted by Myers to make it 0-19 to 0-17. \nMcCarthy and Myers pushed the lead out to three but Midleton had one last chance in the 62nd minute. DESCRIPTION:Clonlara defeated Crusheen by 3-18 to 2-16 in the Clare Senior Hurling Final on Sunday October 22nd at Cusack Park Ennis. \n\nClare SHC Final: Clonlara defeat Crusheen \nClonlara 3-18 Crusheen 2-16 \nReport By Eoin Brennan at Cusack Park for GAA.ie \nFifteen years on from their last title\, Clonlara returned to the summit of Clare hurling following a fully merited senior final victory over Crusheen in front of 5\,048 in Cusack Park Ennis. \nThree final defeats since allied to six penultimate stage exits had forced the South East Clare side to ensure a harrowing series of heartbreaks. However\, thanks to an exciting new crop of talent led by the sole survivor of that 2008 title win John Conlon\, Clonlara completed a perfect six match championship run that included overcoming their final opponents twice along the way. \nBeing a first final for two-thirds of their team\, Clonlara arguably should have grabbed a goal in the opening quarter\, only for Jathan McMahon\, Colm O’Meara and Ian Galvin to be somehow snuffed out by a miserly Crusheen defence. \nWhen it came however\, Micheál O’Loughlin’s emphatic goal entering the second quarter would have a transformational effect as buoyed by that release\, Clonlara powered to the interval. DESCRIPTION:Clonmel Commercials defeated JK Brackens by 6-7 to 2-6 in the Tipperary Senior Football Final on Sunday October 22nd at FBD Semple Stadium Thurles. \n\n\nREPORT: Seánie O'Connor starred for @Commercials in a goal laden @TipperaryGAA SFC Final win over @Jkbgaa \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) October 22\, 2023 \n  \nTipperary SFC Final: Commercials cruise to emphatic victory \nClonmel Commercials 6-7 JK Brackens 2-6 \nReport By Noel Dundon at FBD Semple Stadium for GAA.ie \nThree first half goals in six minutes laid the pathway for Clonmel Commercials to retain the Tipperary senior football championship at FBD Semple Stadium when they blitzed challengers JK Brackens in a one sided affair. \nIf they were clinical in front of goal in the first half\, they didn’t disappoint in the second half either as they fired further green flags almost with ease\, especially when Brackens seemed to be getting some kind of footing in the game which eventually petered out. \nCommercials were bidding for a fourth county senior football title in five years and winning the O’Dwyer Cup for the 21st time brought them level with neighbours Fethard who were top of the roll of honour up to the final whistle. \nWhile always regarded as the outright favourites for the title\, Commercials could hardly have believed that they would hold a 3-5 to 1-4 interval lead and that their three goals would come in a six minute blast midway through the first half. They were 0-4 to 0-2 in front at this stage with points from All Star Michael Quinlivan (2) and Sean O’Connor (2) while Brackens had points from Jack Nevin and Eanna McBride. \nHowever\, a penalty in the ninth minute saw Michael Quinlivan’s effort saved by Brackens keeper Kuba Beben\, but he could do nothing about the follow-up which Quinlivan blasted to the net. Minutes later the ball was again in the Brackens net with Peter McGarry weaving his way through to bag a very fine second goal. \nRemarkably\, a third Commercials goal materialised immediately when Sean O’Connor tapped in to give his side a 3-5 to 0-2 lead. \nThat score was to be Commercials final one of the half – they failed to score in the second quarter though they had two gilt edge goal chances which went abegging. Instead\, Brackens made some inroads on the deficit with points from Dean McEnroe and Jack Kennedy which followed a 19th minute Adrian Bourke goal after a goalmouth scramble. \nThe first score of the second half saw another Commercials goal\, this time for half back Padraic Looram\, before Sean O’Connor and Cathal Deely followed up with others to end the game as a contest. \nMind you\, Brackens had netted from a penalty when Adrian Bourke was fouled and Jack Kennedy expertly put the spot kick away. This victory was helped by eight points from Ronan Lynch\, who continued in the forwards with William O’Donoghue returning to the team. \nWith O’Donoghue involved\, it meant that Kevin Downes returned to wing forward – and to some effect. He scored 0-4 from play as Na Piarsaigh held the advantage from 21st minute to the finish. \nIt was a 30th final for Patrickswell\, who remain top of the roll of honour\, having won 20 titles. They didn’t bring their best and had a few players well shackled by an organised Na Piarsaigh defence. \nTrue to form\, Aaron Gillane started this game by getting the first two points. There was a quick-fire brace from him\, but he was tightly marked by opposing captain\, Mike Casey. \nThe breakthrough goal from Casey was a typical score from the Limerick star. \nCollecting a long delivery\, Casey still had a lot to do for the games opening goal. He cut in from a wide angle and somehow\, despite being followed by four Well defenders\, the ball trickled over the line after he connected with his left foot. \nNa Piarsaigh held the half-time lead\, 1-8 to 0-7. Both sides had left a string of chances after them with the wide count seven to five\, Patrickswell more inaccurate. Downes clipped over to close the half. \nThe city side were able to pull five clear early in the second half\, first Mike Foley and then Ronan Lynch (free) on target. \nEamonn Kelly’s side would never get closer than two points and when they did\, after Kevin O’Brien clipped over a point\, Na Piarsaigh had answers. \nShane O’Neill’s men had points again from Downes and Lynch and Patrickswell hunted a goal which just never game. DESCRIPTION:Castlehaven defeated Nemo Rangers by 0-11 to 0-9 in the Cork Premier Senior Football Final on Sunday October 29th at Páirc Uí Chaoimh. \n\nCork SFC Final: Castlehaven defeat Nemo \nCastlehaven 0-11 Nemo Rangers 0-9 \nReport By Dylan O’Connell at Páirc Uí Chaoimh for GAA.ie \nThe Andy Scannell Cup is back in West Cork after seven years following Castlehaven’s victory over Nemo Rangers. \nLate scores from Michael and Brian Hurley edged the club in front of their city rivals \nThe Haven did it – and by doing so they ended a memorable campaign that saw hard fought victories over championship favourites St Finbarr’s and 2014 winners Ballincollig. \nTo upset the most successful team in the history of Cork football\, Castlehaven had to be patient and disciplined while in possession. Haven were rewarded for their work inside five minutes as Michael and Brian Hurley combined to give them an early two point lead. \nDamien Cahalane marshalled their back-line so well that Nemo were reduced to just one shot during the opening 15 minutes. \nThen Luke Connolly and Jack Horgan found space and tied the game up\, and that was the start of a straight shoot-out between the two clubs. \nNeither team was able to gain some sense of comfort as Barry O’Driscoll and Mark Cronin were immediately cancelled out white flags that Michael Hurley and Sean Browne raised. \nThat made it 0-4 apiece at the break and the game restarted with a flurry of activity that ended with Nemo one point up. \nBrian Hurley free immediately equalised for Castlehaven and Mark Cronin added another point to his tally\, and his club led 0-6 to 0-5. \nCastlehaven erased that advantage through a Brian Hurley free that split the posts at the Blackrock End. \nThe southside club dominated possession in the minutes that followed and they created four scoring opportunities in a row. Connolly was only available to convert one –  from a placed ball – and Nemo went up by one point. \nCastlehaven kept their composure and never overly committed in a bid to quickly recoup any losses. The discipline was rewarded through a mark that Brian Hurley claimed and put over the bar. \nIt was a drawn game at the 60th minute and Brian Hurley kicked over another free to make it 0-10 to 0-9. DESCRIPTION:Rathgormack defeated The Nire by 1-9 to 0-6 in the Waterford Senior Football Final on Sunday October 29th at Fraher Field Dungarvan. \n\nJason Curry stars as 13-man Rathgormack claim Waterford title \nWaterford SFC Final: Rathgormack 1-9 The Nire 0-6  \nReport by Tomas McCarthy for the Irish Examiner newspaper \nThirteen-man Rathgormack regained the Conway Cup in the Dungarvan sunshine on Sunday afternoon as they led great rivals The Nire from pillar to post. \nMan of the match Jason Curry netted a second-half goal for the green and red as they banished the disappointment of losing the three previous county finals. \nDespite losing county midfielder Michael Curry to a straight red card on 35 minutes\, his brother stepped up to the plate with 1-4\, Jason Gleeson shot three points from play and Tom Walsh gave a towering display at centre back. Kenny Hassett’s side finished the hour with 13 men as Conor Walsh got a black card in injury time. \nThe Nire took the field without former Waterford full back Thomas O’Gorman but three-time hurling All Star Jamie Barron returned from injury. James Power blasted left and wide in the fourth minute after bursting through the Nire defence. Jason Curry converted a Rathgormack free two minutes later. The Curry brothers combined as Michael set up Jason for a point from play. On 11 minutes\, Conor Murray beat four Nire defenders before Billy Power split the posts from 40 metres (0-3 to 0-0). \nA glorious kick pass from Conor Gleeson created The Nire’s first point for Shane O’Meara after 16 minutes. Rathgormack missed two frees before Jason Gleeson raised another flag. On 22 minutes\, Nire goal getter Aaron Ryan fired a low shot off the post. Dermot Ryan nailed a free off the ground to reduce the deficit to two. The Nire dominated possession in the first half but Rathgormack soaked it up and counter attacked effectively. Off one of those turnovers\, Murray assisted a point for Jason Curry. The Rathgormack number eleven slotted another free\, his fourth single of the half\, to leave the challengers 6-2 ahead at the break. \nFive minutes into the second half\, Rathgormack midfielder Michael Curry saw red after an off-the-ball clash with Tholom Guiry. Ryan pointed another free for The Nire but James Power replied straight away at the other end. The Nire lost Ciaran Looney and James McGrath to injury in the third quarter. \nOn 43 minutes\, Conor Murray sprayed a wonderful crossfield pass to Cathal Crowch which opened up the opposition defence. Crowch and James Power combined before Jason Curry finished low to the net (1-7 to 0-3). Despite the best efforts of Dermot Ryan\, the champions couldn’t mount a comeback. \nStephen Curry hit the post with four minutes left.
