DESCRIPTION:Clare defeated Tipperary by 3-7 to 1-9 in the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Premier Junior Camogie Championship Final on Sunday August 6th at Croke Park. \n\n\nClare celebrate winning the All-Ireland Junior Camogie title pic.twitter.com/me85bmaiQZ \n— The Sunday Game (@TheSundayGame) August 6\, 2023 \n  \n\n\nCongratulations to Clare who are the Glen Dimplex Premier Junior All-Ireland Champions. 🏆 \nFinal score Clare: 3-07Tipperary: 1-09#OurGameOurPassion @Dimplex_Ireland @ClareCamogie pic.twitter.com/VC4USKJA1C \n— The Camogie Association (@OfficialCamogie) August 6\, 2023 \n  \n\n\nREPORT: @ClareCamogie defeated @camogietipp in the All-Ireland Premier Junior @OfficialCamogie Final at @CrokePark \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) August 6\, 2023 \n  \n\nClare come good in championship quarter  \nBy Daragh Ó Conchúir\, at Croke Park \nClare 3-7 Tipperary 1-9   \nClare recovered from an atrocious start and a six-point deficit to record a deserved victory in the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Premier Junior final.  \nThe Banner were winning the title for the first time since 2008\, when current senior star Chloe Morey was playing\, but that was the county’s first team and it is reflective of progress Shannonside that they now have a second outfit capable of securing the honours.  \nTipperary played the last quarter at a numerical disadvantage\, after the 42nd minute sending off of Ciara Brennan on a second yellow card\, but they were treading water at that juncture anyway.  \nThey fought hard and actually kept Clare scoreless for the remainder of the game but the damage had been done.\nBrennan opened the scoring for Tipp after 20 seconds as both teams started nervously\, though Aoife O’Brien was alert in the goals for the Premier and she would go on to have an outstanding game.  \nThere were missed chances at each end before Tipp scoring machine Jean Kelly made her first contribution with a neat point in the 11th minute. That Kelly would not have the impact of previous outings was a credit to her direct opponent and namesake\, the fantastic Rachel Kelly.  \nThe Clare Kelly’s one error led to a Tipp goal three minutes later\, the Premier’s 11th of the campaign and amazingly\, the first that Jean Kelly hadn’t scored. The defender did very well to come out of a ruck with possession but her hand-pass intended for a supporting colleague was brilliantly intercepted and controlled by Rachel O’Dwyer\, who roofed her shot.   \nA pointed free by Kelly soon after and it was looking good for David Sullivan’s side with a six-point lead.  \nIt was almost nine two minutes later when a tremendous block by Sinéad Hogg denied Clodagh Horgan a likely goal. This proved to perhaps the most significant moment in the game as goalie Lauren Solon gathered possession and coolly found a saffron and blue jersey with her pass.\nClare worked it up the field to the rampaging Jennifer Daly\, one of the well known Scariff triplets. Her run created mayhem and the sliotar broke to Sarah Loughnane\, who shot to the far corner of the net from a tight angle.  \nThe momentum turned completely from there and the sides went in at half-time level on 1-5 each. Claire Stakelum extended Tipp’s advantage briefly but three points in a row from Laobhaise O’Donnell and a brace of Sarah Loughnane frees. Brennan and McMahon exchanged points and there was a definite bounce in Clare steps going into the dressing rooms.  \nThey continued as they had left-off and after an excellent McMahon point\, Caoimhe Cahill sent a howitzer to the Tipp net in the 34th minute after O’Brien had saved from half-time sub Aoife Anderson.  \nHorgan and Daly swapped points when Clare found the net again just over seven minutes after the resumption. Once again\, O’Brien made a save but dual player Caoimhe Cahill whipped first time off the sod and suddenly John Carmody’s crew were seven clear.  \nIt was about not conceding a major from there and though Jean Kelly converted three frees\, and Tipp went close to a goal in the last minute of injury time\, they had left themselves too much to do. Supporters invaded the pitch and submerged the Crotta O’Neill’s players as 55 years of heartache ended with referee Ciaran O’Regan’s final whistle on this Kerry SHC final. And how they deserved it. \nLixnaw and Shane Conway gave it everything but they can have few complaints as Crotta were the superior side\, even though they shot 20 wides and created three goals chances that they failed to convert. It was a triumph for hunger\, passion and a sheer desire to get rid of that monkey off their backs.  \nCrotta O’Neill’s longest serving player and top marksman Shane Nolan reflected emotionally as he said: “Relief is the main feeling. Although we tried not to pay too much attention to the 55 years\, it was always in the back of our head. I can only thank the panel of players because I thought I would never see this day. Some of us were throwing away chances including myself while Seanie McElligott\, the youngest player on the field\, fired over three points and Jordan Conway stood up there as well when needed. \n“My grandfather has six county championship medals\, my uncle Cyril has one and my uncle Todd lost two county finals and now I\, Richard\, Raymond and Dominick are the next generation of Nolans with one each. I think we were guilty of trying too hard and we left the door ajar at the end as Lixnaw created three goal-scoring chances but we held on to win.  \n“We were down five points but the likes of Cillian Trant and Barry Mahony drove us on. Making a final in 2011 at 20\, you think we would be back a few times but lads went away and then we had to wait until today. It’s a day I will never forget but it’s more about the community. We did it for the people who thought they would not live to see another win after 1968.”  \nLixnaw exploded from the blocks with Shane Conway coveting a sideline cut from under the terrace inside the opening minute and John Buckley quickly added a point as Lixnaw were using the wind to telling advantage. But Crotta O’Neill’s were wasting scoring chances and in fact by the end of the half they missed 13 chances\, including ten wides. \nShane Conway then added a free but Crotta hit back with Seanie McElligott point. But then Lixnaw struck for a crucial goal in the 10th minute when Jeremy McKenna raced through and his shot was deflected into the path of Mikey Kelliher who had the simplest task of finishing to the net. \nLixnaw were now 1-4 to 0-2 by the 14th minute when Ricky Heffernan added another point but Crotta O’Neill’s took over and by half time they were level thanks to points from Barry Mahony\, Cillian Trant\, Jordan Conway\, Shane Nolan\, Seanie McElligott\, Cillian Trant again\, and Shane Nolan and at 0-9 to 1-6. \nCrotta were in the box seat with the wind to their backs for the second period. \nDarragh O’Donoghue and Mikey Kelliher swapped points but Crotta took over and points from Seanie McElligott and two Jordan Conway specials had those three clear and despite ten second half wides\, they repelled the Lixnaw challenge led by Jeremy McKenna and Shane Conway. It was Cork’s first success since 2018 but having claimed the scalps of Kilkenny and Galway teams that had denied them in the last two All-Ireland and League finals\, they were fancied to finally get over the line.  \nThey did so with a wonderful performance\, marrying the velvet glove with the iron fist\, speed with physicality.\nTheir ability to mix it up in possession\, from running to hitting their inside forwards directly was too much for Waterford\, though the Déise were dealt a key early blow with the loss of their best marker\, Vikki Falconer through injury after three minutes.  \nFalconer has been among the most effective defenders in the land and though Seán Power could call on the vastly experienced Iona Heffernan\, they needed the limpet-like Tramore player. Waterford also needed to take most of their opportunities and it just didn’t happen\, with the brilliant Beth Carton unfortunately astray with some frees.  \nThey had two outstanding goal chances too\, the first in the 20th minute\, when the deficit was just four points. And you wouldn’t have wanted anyone else other than the consummate artist\, Lorraine Bray running onto Niamh Rockett’s ball across the goal. With Amy Lee advancing however\, the Waterford captain failed to get a touch.  \nThen with almost the first half’s last action\, Libby Coppinger dragged back Annie Fitzgerald for a penalty. Carton hit her shot powerfully and with an undercut\, causing the sliotar to slide away from Lee but too far\, inches the wrong side of the upright.  \nIt was 1-9 to 0-3 at the interval and a goal there would have put a different complexion on matters. The St Vincent’s star was in oceans of pace to score her second and less than two minutes after her first\, she was sliding another home\, Katrina Mackey again drawing the last defender. Keating provided Cork’s fifth major.  \nIt had to be difficult but Waterford kept on even though their dreams had been dashed. DESCRIPTION:Down defeated Limerick by 1-7 to 0-8 in the 2023 TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Junior Football Championship Final on Sunday August 13th at Croke Park. \n\nDown 1-7 Limerick 0-8  \nBy Daire Walsh  \nA 43rd-minute goal from substitute Orla Swail was crucial at Croke Park as Down secured their second TG4 All-Ireland Junior Football Championship crown at the expense of Limerick.  \nPrevious winners of the competition in 2000\, the Ulster side have sealed an automatic return to the intermediate grade after suffering relegation at the end of 2022. Natasha Ferris amassed an impressive tally of 0-5 to supplement Swail’s clinical finish and while Caoimhe McGrath kicked four points for their opponents\, Limerick fell just short in their quest for a third junior title.  \nAfter Ferris had broken the deadlock with a routine free in the third-minute\, Limerick opened their account with a superb individual point from play by McGrath. Promoted to the starting line-up following an impressive performance off the bench in their semi-final win against Fermanagh\, McGrath subsequently knocked over a brace of frees to give Limerick an early two-point advantage.  \nYet Ferris began this contest four points clear of Clare’s Fidelma Marrinan in the race for the ZuCar Golden Boot award and she contributed a quickfire 0-2 salvo to bring the Mourne women back on level terms.  \nWhile dead-ball specialist McGrath was on hand to restore Limerick’s advantage\, Down regained control with back-to-back points from attackers Aimee O’Higgins and Ferris. DESCRIPTION:Kildare defeated Clare by 2-11 to 2-10 in the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Intermediate Football Championship Final on Sunday August 13th at Croke Park. \n\nKildare 2-11 Clare 2-10  \nBy Eoin Brennan  \nKildare maintained their dominance over Clare but only after surviving a late backlash to secure their first TG4 All-Ireland intermediate title in seven years in Croke Park.  \nHaving already overcome the Banner twice in 2023 as well as the 2016 final\, Diane O’Hora’s side looked to be heading for a comfortable hat-trick until the concession of two late goals.  \nEight points clear entering the final ten minutes after successfully protecting the cushion of first half goals for Trina Duggan and Ellen Dowling\, the Banner backlash was ignited in the 52nd minute when Chloe Moloney’s free was parried by Mary Hulgraine\, only for Fidelma Marrinan to flick the rebound to the net while three minutes later Moloney got a deft flick to a Ciara McCarthy delivery to find the net and tee up a grandstand finish.  \nClare had also started the brighter with a brace of Fidelma Marrinan frees by the sixth minute. Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh was scorer-in-chief for the Kingdom with 1-7\, but the Munster outfit ultimately fell short in the senior showpiece for the second year in succession.  \nPlaying in their ninth senior final in just 10 years\, Dublin stormed into the game with points from Tyrrell and Orlagh Nolan inside the opening 60 seconds. The Kingdom subsequently got up and running with a close-range free by stand-in captain Ní Mhuircheartaigh\, but Tyrrell restored the Jackies’ two-point cushion with a similar effort at the opposite end.  \nThe former Ireland rugby international maintained her excellent start to the contest with a second point from play\, while Jennifer Dunne also joined the Dublin scoresheet in direct response to a score by Kerry wing-forward Niamh Carmody.  \nNí Mhuircheartaigh fired over a point after being released on goal in the 13th-minute\, but with Nolan exerting a major influence at centre-forward\, Dublin were dictating affairs in GAA HQ. A sequence of six points without reply – five of them from the majestic Tyrrell and one via the boot of Caoimhe O’Connor – put Mick Bohan’s side in a powerful position and it took a Ní Mhuircheartaigh free to bring their lead down to seven (0-11 to 0-4) at the interval.  \nAlthough Kerry made a bright start to the second half with unanswered points from Carmody and Ní Mhuircheartaigh\, Kate Sullivan and Dublin captain Carla Rowe were on hand to cancel out these efforts in swift fashion.
