They probably still have more in the tank. \nThat was the impression the Sam Maguire Cup holders left us with as they cruised up through the gears in second-half and sped to a landmark win over their old rivals\, securing their semi-final place with surprising ease. \nNo-one was too sure about Kerry’s All-Ireland credentials beforehand\, with a loss to Mayo in the group stage and a none too convincing defeat of Cork\, but routing the 2021 winners amounted to a significant statement of intent. \nThat they laid waste to their old rivals’ Championship’s hopes\, gaining a little bit of revenge for the 2021 semi-final defeat in the process\, will have pleased the Kingdom faithful no end. \nThe Munster champions were terrific in the second-half\, outscoring Tyrone by 2-9 to 0-6\, and while Paudie Clifford was sent off for two bookings in stoppage time along with his marker Conor Meyler\, it will go down as a minor blip. \nSean O’Shea and Diarmuid O’Connor fired the second-half goals for Kerry and finished with 2-7 between them. David Clifford weighed in with five points but just to underline how much they still have to improve\, the Kerry talisman and captain left seven scoring opportunities behind him. \nKerry approached the quarter-finalists as the highest scoring team in the round robin stage from the eight teams left in the Championship\, averaging out at 24.3 points per match. \nTyrone\, meanwhile\, fired just 16.25 points per game in their group and the quarter-final encounter followed that pattern with Kerry hitting the interval three clear\, 0-9 to 0-6. \nAll week\, the talk in both counties was of the potential matchups and it turned out to be as follows; Jason Foley on Darren McCurry and Tom O’Sullivan on Darragh Canavan. Mattie Donnelly wore number 14 and was picked up by Graham O’Sullivan but that individual battle played out mainly around the middle third. Kerry half-back Paul Murphy did his best to keep tabs on Ruairi Canavan. \nTyrone dropped Meyler\, wearing number 10\, back into their defence to pick up Paudie Clifford and they operated with Michael O’Neill as an extra defender. That left Tadgh Morley as Kerry’s spare defender. \nDavid Clifford was marked by Tyrone captain Padraig Hampsey\, Ronan McNamee was assigned to track Paul Geaney while Michael McKernan picked up Sean O’Shea. \nThe two Clifford brothers found themselves in the wars; David getting up close and personal with Hampsey early on and Paudie enduring a running battle with Meyler. \nIn scoring terms\, Kerry led for the majority of the first-half and even though David Clifford fired two wides and dropped two point attempts short\, he still sniped three points in that half. \nPaudie got away from his man for a score too while O’Sullivan dropped another over on the stiff breeze at the Davin End. \nTyrone got it back to level terms on a couple of occasions at 0-5 and 0-6 apiece but a strong finish to the first half from Kerry yielded scores from David Clifford and O’Connor and that three-point interval lead. \nThey stretched the margin to five after the restart following pointed frees from David Clifford and O’Shea. McGuigan fired another wide shortly after\, neatly suggesting just how much Derry still have in the tank as they look forward with optimism to a July 15/16 All-Ireland semi-final. \nEoghan McSweeney responded to that McGuigan penalty drama with a point for Cork who trailed by four in the closing moments and they pushed hard for a goal but it never arrived as Derry held on. \nUnfortunately for Cork\, their season is now over but Derry\, who were inspired by Man of the Match Gareth McKinless\, will march on confidently. \nWith two losses from their opening three Championship games\, and coming up against an unbeaten Derry side\, Cork were naturally underdogs and the first 25 minutes or so played out upon anticipated lines. \nDerry led 0-6 to 0-2 at that stage with McGuigan\, Ethan Doherty and Paul Cassidy all helping themselves to a brace of points each. It wasn’t Derry at their free-flowing best but they were purposeful and efficient. \nCork only scored once from play in that period\, Colm O’Callaghan’s sixth minute point following a turnover at the other end of the field. \nBoth sides set up in containment mode with a clear focus on punishing the opposition on the break. \nCork created plenty of opportunities but blasted six first-half wides\, leaving Derry in a strong position with 10 minutes or so to go in the half. \nSurprisingly\, Derry didn’t score again until early in the second-half as Cork suddenly began to get some pay off for all their pressure. The Munster outfit’s strategy was to press hard on the Derry kick-out or\, when attacking\, to wait patiently on the edge of Derry’s defensive screen before feeding a runner to attack the line at pace. \nThat’s how their third point in the 27th minute materialised with Ian Maguire playing a pop pass over the top for Ruairi Deane to run onto and fist over. \nSteven Sherlock then won a 45 that he converted for Cork before they reverted to type with a penetrating run in behind Derry’s defence by Kevin O’Donovan along the right endline that resulted in another fisted score. \nSuddenly\, Cork had whittled down Derry’s advantage to just a point with the Oak Leafers just 0-6 to 0-5 up at the break. \nThe individual matchups were carefully thought out by either backroom; fit again Derry defender Chrissy McKaigue and Eoghan McEvoy picking up Sherlock and Conor Corbett respectively. Derry dangerman McGuigan was tracked by Tommy Walsh at first before Maurice Shanley switched onto him. DESCRIPTION:Tipperary defeated Antrim by 3-23 to 0-6 in the Glen Dimplex Camogie All-Ireland Quarter Final on Saturday July 8th at Croke Park. \n\nTipperary sweep aside Antrim to make fifth semi-final in six seasons  \nBy Séamas McAleenan\, at Croke Park  \nTipperary 3-23 Antrim 0-6 \nTipperary are back in the semi-finals of the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland senior championship after this very comfortable quarter-final victory in Croke Park on Saturday against injury-hit Antrim. \nUp until last year the Premier had made four successive semi-final appearances.  \nThere was little chance of that experience not counting against the Saffrons who had done well to reach a quarter-final for the first time in 41 years despite the experienced Lucia McNaughton\, Shannon Graham and the long-term injured Maeve Kelly not participating in any of the group games.  \nActing captain Caoimhe Conlon picked up a grade two tear on her shoulder AC joint in last week’s game against Waterford and joined those on the treatment table. The good news pre-match was the return of McNaughton for her first start since the league tie with Wexford on April 2nd.  \nThe Saffrons set up defensively with Mary McKillen dropping back into the half-back line. It took Tipperary a little time to work out how to break them down and after 15 minutes the teams were locked on 0-3 each\, three frees from Antrim (Róisín McCormick two and a huge effort from Niamh Cosgrove) and three from play for the Munster champions\, including a fine effort from Cáit Devane who would go on to win the player of the match award with a total of 2-6.  \nAntrim clung on for a while in the second quarter\, but three frees from Eimear McGrath and two points from Devane opened a gap of 0-10 to 0-5 by half-time.  \nThe sliotar broke for Caoimhe Maher from the throw-in and she burst down the centre\, the move ending with Cáit Devane slotting the goal after just 12 seconds.  \nTipperary quickly set about killing off the game and a series of points followed to bring their total to 1-17 by the three quarters mark.\nThen half-time sub Eimear Heffernan stepped on the gas. The Knocknavilla Donnaskeigh Kickhams forward was on hand to find the net after Caoimhe McCarthy’s shot was brilliantly saved by Catrina Graham in teh 46th minute.   \nShe then tagged on four points during the last quarter while another driving run from McCarthy saw the sliotar off-loaded for Devane to volley to the net with a lob that would have had the crowds gasping at Wimbledon.  \nAntrim looked dejected as they left the pitch while all is rosy in the Tipp garden ahead of their eighth semi-final in nine seasons. DESCRIPTION:Limerick defeated Galway by 2-24 to 1-18 in the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship Semi-Final on Saturday July 8th at Croke Park. \n\nMatch Highlights \n\nWatch the Full-time highlights of Galway v Limerick here!#GAANOW pic.twitter.com/rJt5MEIsDf \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) July 8\, 2023 \n  \n\n\nREPORT: After a slow start @LimerickCLG eventually took control of today's All-Ireland SHC semi-final and powered to a convincing victory over @Galway_GAA. #GAABelong \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) July 8\, 2023 \n  \nAll-Ireland SHC semi-final: Limerick overpower Galway \nLIMERICK 2-24 GALWAY 1-18 \nReport By John Harrington at Croke Park for GAA.ie \nWhen Limerick trailed by six points after 25 minutes of this All-Ireland semi-final\, you wondered were the three-in-a-row All-Ireland champions teetering. \nThey’d been out-hustled and out-thought by a Galway team bristling with energy\, and struggled to muster their usual mixture of fluency with the ball and controlled aggression without it. \nBut then their defence with William O’Donoghue in an unfamiliar position of centre-back got to grips with the men they were marking\, they began competing with their usual zeal for ball in the middle third\, and they dominated the puck-out battle. \nThat gave them the platform to really get their forwards into the contest and they completely dominated the last 10 minutes of the first half and all of the second to eventually run out very comfortable victors. \nClearly the hunger of this Limerick team remains undiminished as they now advance to yet another All-Ireland Final\, and bid to make it four titles in a row and five in six years. \nThe manner in which their challenge petered out after a very encouraging start will be hugely disappointing for the Galway players. \nThey had settled into the contest quickly\, with points from Evan Niland (free) and Brian Concannon sandwiching an Aaron Gillane free for Limerick. \nBut then\, somewhat against the run of play\, Limerick landed the first heavy blow of the game when Gillane struck for a trademark goal. \nHe showed great strength to catch a Tom Morrissey pass above the head of Daithi Burke\, and finished from close-range ruthlessly. \nGalway hit back immediately with another Niland free which testified to the steely mental resolve they were bringing to bear on the contest. \nAnother Niland free brought them level and then Conor Whelan pushed them back into the lead when he won a ball ahead of Mike Casey\, wriggled free from the Limerick defender\, and lanced the sliotar over the bar. \nAnother Niland free quickly followed before Limerick levelled the game again – 1-3 to 0-6 – through points from Gillane (free) and Peter Casey. \nThen came the best attacking play of the match so far when Kevin Cooney played in Cathal Mannion with a pass of real vision and the midfielder lashed the sliotar to the net from a tight angle. \nGalway really had the bit between their teeth now and Concannon landed a very sweet point when he sidestepped beautifully past Kyle Hayes before driving it over the bar. \nConcannon was causing Limerick big problems because he was drifting all over the pitch into pockets of space and both making himself available for passes and hitting some great diagonal ones himself into Conor Whelan from deep positions. \nAt the other end of the pitch Limerick’s shooting was uncharacteristically off-colour with seven different players hitting seven wides in the first half. \nGalway were more clinical\, both from play and placed balls\, and by the 25th minute had moved 1-12 to 1-6 ahead. \nA tricky situation for Limerick could have been much worse had Mike Casey not made a brilliant goal-line save from a Concannon ground-stroke that looked destined for the net. \nAs if energised by that near-miss\, Limerick came to life in the final 10 minutes of the first-half. \nDarragh O’Donovan deserves a lot of credit for their resurgence. He hit a great point from wide on the left and then set up two more for Aaron Gillane and Seamus Flanagan with beautifully weighted passes. \nThe reigning champions hit the last four points of the half to leave the scores reading 1-13 to 1-12 to Galway at the break\, which must not have felt reflective of the huge effort the Tribesmen had produced. \nLimerick have a well-earned reputation for putting their foot on the gas at the start of the second-half and they did it again in this match. \nThey out-scored Galway by four points to two in the first ten minutes of the half with the pick of the bunch an inspirational effort from Tom Morrissey. \nThen came their second-goal\, and it was one Galway will have nightmares about. \nCian Lynch put David Reidy through with a clever pass and when the wing-forward squared it to Aaron Gillane his initial batted effort struck the cross-bar. \nPadraic Mannion attempted to flick the rebound clear\, but instead he directed it straight into Gillane’s path again and this time the Patrickswell star finished ruthlessly as he lashed a ground-stroke to the net. \nNow trailing by four points\, Galway were in real trouble. DESCRIPTION:Cork defeated Kilkenny by 2-14 to 2-13 in the Glen Dimplex Camogie All-Ireland Quarter Final on Sunday July 9th at Croke Park. \n\nCork hold off Gaule-inspired Cats to advance  \nBy Daragh Ó Conchúir\, at Croke Park  \nCork 2-14 Kilkenny 2-13  \nFor the first time since 2012\, when it was Kilkenny also missed out\, one of the long-established big three of camogie will not be in the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland semi-finals\, after Cork saw off their conquerors in last year’s final.  \nThe Rebels looked to be heading for a relatively comfortable conclusion but that was to reckon without the marvel that is Denise Gaule\, whose stunning 58th minute goal and subsequent point from a free she had won herself brought her tally to 1-10 and left Matthew Twomey and his crew chewing their nails.  \nSome big defensive plays saw them over the line in the end however\, and it was a victory they just about deserved.\nThe game was postponed for 15 minutes after the Cork squad had been forced to abandon their train and transfer to a bus\, receiving a Garda escort from Naas to Croke Park.  \nKilkenny started strongly with their policy of playing long and direct paying particular dividends.\nThe tactic served to bypass the hugely influential Laura Treacy but it also yielded a goal as Brian Dowling’s side established a five-point lead at the end of the first quarter.  \nBut Cork hung in there despite struggling to get a toehold in proceedings and in particular\, to provide a supply to Katrina Mackey and Amy O’Connor\, and as Saoirse McCarthy\, Fiona Keating and Hannah Looney began to get their running game going\, it was the Rebels on top at the break by two\, 1-8 to 1-6.  \nKilkenny shot the opening two points of the game through a Gaule free and a score by Aoife Doyle\, who was very prominent early on.\nSorcha McCartan snaffled a nice point to get Cork off the mark in the sixth minute and grabbed her second in response to another Gaule free but Julianne Malone split the posts before last year’s All-Ireland-winning captain Aoife Prendergast latched onto a long free from Claire Phelan and slipped a shot past the advancing Amy Lee in unfussy fashion.  \nChloe Sigerson and O’Connor reduced the margin to a goal and the skipper then levelled proceedings with a fantastic turn and finish\, after a brilliantly placed 60m delivery in front of her by Fiona Keating.  \nLooney pointed and Mackey drilled over two points but Kilkenny hit some bad wides and it was a two-point game at the change of ends.\nCork went for the jugular early in the second half and Mackey goaled just over four minutes after the resumption. McCarthy made a lot of ground on a trademark run and though Aoife Norris blocked her shot\, the midfielder gathered the rebound. DESCRIPTION:Kilkenny defeated Clare by 1-25 to 1-22 in the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship Semi-Final on Sunday July 9th at Croke Park. \n\nMatch Highlights \n\nWatch the full-time highlights of Clare v Kilkenny here!#GAANOW pic.twitter.com/eRLPFkESZU \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) July 9\, 2023 \n  \n\n\nREPORT: A more clinical @KilkennyCLG resisted a second-half charge from @GaaClare to win a dramatic All-Ireland SHC semi-final at Croke Park today. #GAABelong \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) July 9\, 2023 \n  \nAll-Ireland SHC semi-final: Clinical Kilkenny see off Clare \nKILKENNY 1-25 CLARE 1-22 \nReport By John Harrington at Croke Park for GAA.ie \nIn a match of fine margins\, an inspired piece of goalkeeping from Kilkenny’s Eoin Murphy ensured Kilkenny march on to an All-Ireland Final date with Limerick for the second year in a row. \nDeep in injury-time he flew through the air to tip a scorching first-time shot from Peter Duggan onto his cross-bar and\, eventually\, away to safety. \nHad that ball hit the back of the net the teams would have been level again with time almost up\, and this might be a very different match report. \nIn the final reckoning it was a deserved win for a more clinical Kilkenny team\, but Clare will have no shortage of regrets. \nSome rash tackling cost them dearly\, with a tally of 10 converted TJ Reid frees telling a story of its own. \nThey’ll also reflect that the decision to select Seadna Morey as a sweeper in the first half ultimately didn’t pay off. \nMorey hurled a lot of ball but Clare trailed by five points at half-time and posed a much bigger attacking threat in the second-half when they went man for man. \nEven then though their forwards struggled to find the sort of attacking fluency that was a hallmark of their campaign to date\, with Tony Kelly in particular well marshalled by the Kilkenny defence. \nShane O’Donnell did his best to inspire those around him\, but Clare ultimately didn’t have a player as clinical as Kilkenny’s Eoin Cody who hit 1-5 from play in a man of the match performance. \nProminent from the get-go\, he was directly involved in Kilkenny’s first three scores\, winning two frees that TJ Reid converted and scoring one himself. \nAt the other end of the field Clare looked dangerous in the early exchanges too\, as Ryan Taylor and Peter Duggan landed two sweet points. \nBut as the half progressed\, Kilkenny’s dominance grew steadily. More often than not they outhustled Clare in contests for possession and their hooking\, blocking\, and tackling was all of the highest order. \nAdrian Mullen’s point on 12 minutes when he blocked down Cathal Malone and the fired the ball over the bar summed up his team’s impressive work-ethic. \nCrucially\, Kilkenny were much more disciplined in the tackle than Clare were\, and the frequency with which the Banner county players conceded frees in scorable positions was a real problem for them because TJ Reid was not in the mood to misss. \nThe big moments kept coming from Kilkenny\, as Huw Lawlor charged forward from full-back for a mighty point that put his team 0-8 to 0-5 ahead. \nThe Cats then created the first real goal-scoring chance of the match as Billy Ryan did well to put Reid through on goal\, but his fiercely struck shot was brilliantly saved by Eibhear Quilligan. \nTony Kelly and David Fitzgerald did their best to rouse their team-mates with two nice points\, but their concession of cheap frees remained a real Achilles heel and two more frees from Reid increased Kilkenny’s advantage to four. \nThen came another moment of defensive excellence from Kilkenny when Conor Fogarty heroically blocked a Mark Rodgers shot on goal that most likely would have ended up in the net had the not put his body on the line as bravely as he did. \nAfter a rocky start Rory Hayes had been doing well to contain Eoin Cody\, but the balance of power swung again in the closing minutes of the half as the Ballyhale Shamrocks man landed two more points that helped his team into a 0-15 to 0-10 half-time lead. \nClare changed things up tactically at the start of the second-half as they went man for man and pushed higher up on Kilkenny. It quickly paid off. \nMidfielder David Fitzgerald\, especially\, thundered into the contest\, but all over the pitch there was greater intensity from the Munster men. \nThey scored the first three points of the half to get their supporters into the game\, and drew level by the 51st minute as Mark Rodgers converted three frees in quick succession. \nWhen David Reidy landed a nice point after a storming run from Fitzgerald and Rodgers followed up with another free he’d won himself\, Clare were two points ahead and had all the momentum. \nBut then they shot themselves in the foot. DESCRIPTION:Cork defeated Armagh by 0-14 to 2-5 in the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies SFC Quarter Final on Saturday July 15th at the BOX-IT Athletic Grounds\, Armagh. \n\nCork 0-14 Armagh 2-5 \nBy Anthony Newman \nTwo frees from Katie Quirke proved crucial as Cork got the better of Armagh in their TG4 ladies football championship quarter-final tie at the Box-It Athletic Grounds.  \nIt was a close battle all through but in the end Cork\, inspired by Ciara O’Sullivan\, came out on top to advance to the semi-finals.\nArmagh were dealt a blow before the game when star forward\, Aimee Mackin\, was unable to start due to a hamstring injury\, a huge loss to her side.  \nDoireann O’Sullivan opened the scoring two minutes in from a free before Blaithin Mackin replied for the home side.  \nA sweeping team move\, which started in their own half\, saw the visitors back in front when Ciara O’Sullivan scored. But again\, their lead didn’t last long as Armagh worked the ball straight down the pitch to see Aoife McCoy equalise.  \nShe added her second to put Armagh in front as they led 0-3 to 0-2 after 12 minutes.  \nDaire Kiely scored a magnificent point from out near the sideline to see the sides level again\, before Mackin had the first goal chance.\nShe burst past several defenders but her effort went across the goal and wide.  \nCiara O’Sullivan put Cork back in front as there was nothing between the sides in the first 15 minutes. Doireann O’Sullivan increased Cork’s lead to put two between the sides for the first time.  \nLibby Coppinger had a great chance to extend it to three but her close-in effort went narrowly wide.  \nIt took a brilliant save from Anna Carr to stop Cork going further in front when she stopped a shot from Anna Ryan which looked destined for the back of the net.  \nKelly Mallon pointed from a free for Armagh to make it 0-4 to 0-5 with 23 minutes played.  \nAnother Mallon free had the sides level and it remained that way to the break and all to play for in the second-half.  \nCiara O’Sullivan restored Cork’s lead on the restart and Hannah Looney made it 0-7 to 0-5\, with a fisted point with her back to goal.  \nArmagh regained the lead in the 37th minute when they raised a green flag. DESCRIPTION:Kerry defeated Meath by 2-8 to 0-10 in the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies SFC Quarter Final on Saturday July 15th at Austin Stack Park Tralee. \n\nThere will be a new name on the Brendan Martin Cup this year\, and Kerry will hope they can end their famine after they knocked out the back-to-back champions Meath in Tralee.  \nKerry 2-8 Meath 0-10  \nBy Paul Brennan  \nThe reigning TG4 All-Ireland champions went down fighting\, closing a 10-point interval deficit to four at the finish\, but it is Kerry who will face Mayo in the All-Ireland semi-final in a fortnight after coming through the proverbial game of two halves.  \nIn wind and rain more akin to January than July\, Kerry weathered that second half Meath comeback to kill off their hopes of three-in-a-row\, but it says much about the conditions and Meath’s resilience\, that Kerry scored just a solitary point in the entire second half. But it was enough. Just.  \nTwo goals in the opening half – the first no doubt influenced by the extremely testing wind – helped Kerry to that 10-point lead at the interval\, and given the strength of the wind it felt as if the Kingdom would need every bit of that 2-7 to 0-3 lead.  \nHaving lost the 2021 Lidl National League Division 2 final and the 2022 All-Ireland SFC Final to Meath – by 10 and nine points respectively – Kerry didn’t lack motivation to make it third time lucky against the Royals.  \nAided by a near gale-force wind\, Kerry took an early two-point lead through Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh and Siofra O’Shea\, the latter’s booming point from outside the ‘45’ a clear indication of the strength of the wind in the home side’s favour at Austin Stack Park.  \nMeath\, understandably\, were finding it extremely difficult to move the ball up the field\, through a combination of the elements and the ferocious hard work of the Kerry players\, but the visitors did win a couple of frees that the reliable Emma Duggan converted to make it 0-2 apiece after 11 minutes.  \nTwo minutes after that\, O’Shea tried her luck again for a long-range point but goalkeeper Monica McGuirk misjudged the flight of the dropping ball\, which flew in over her head for a Kerry goal. It was a slice of good fortune the home side might say they deserved\, but there was nothing lucky about the next five minutes when Kerry hit the champions for 1-3 without reply.  \nNí Mhuircheartaigh converted a free before Niamh Ní Chonchuir landed two points within a minute of each other to make it 1-5 to 0-2. Requiring a goal deep into additional time McGuigan pointed a free with the last kick and Kerry’s All-Ireland Final appearance was secured. \nFrom the first whistle it was frenetic and fantastic. Two goals were planted in the opening six minutes. \nA couple of other opportunities were spurned just to illustrate how wild and exciting it was. \nGareth McKinless reacted smartly to net a Derry major following a Tadhg Morley block on Brendan Rogers. \nKerry’s response was instant. White\, who had earlier been denied by an Odhran Lynch save\, netted after clever build up work by Paul Geaney and Seán O’Shea. \nPádraig McGrogan subsequently replied with a point\, but the Newbridge clubman was forced off injured. That was a setback for Derry\, who ploughed on defiantly. \nPaul Cassidy and McGuigan rifled over sweet points\, but Kerry came firing again nailing four of the next five points. \nClifford was central\, the prolific Fossa attacker giving a finishing clinic as Kerry edged 1-5 to 1-4 in front by the 22nd minute. \nThe match continued at a decent clip\, though\, with Kerry’s Diarmuid O’Connor black carded moments later. While the Kerry midfielder was absent Derry motored well with Brendan Rogers and the industrious Ciarán McFaul prominent. \nWhen the interval eventually rolled around Derry led 1-11 to 1-8 and the 43\,192 spectators were being treated to a high octane encounter. \nO’Connor introduced Stephen O’Brien\, who was hugely productive after the restart\, forcing a couple of turnovers as Kerry were back on terms\, 1-12 each by the 48th minute. \nClifford and the increasingly influential O’Shea were to the fore for Kerry\, but Derry did create chances. \nKerry custodian Shane Ryan had to be alert when making a 51st minute save from McKinless\, but Derry probed. \nMcFaul\, a willing runner throughout\, steered them ahead before a 60th minute McGuigan free had Derry two clear. \nKerry\, who went 16 minutes without raising a white flag\, remained calm. O’Shea and Clifford converted frees to restore parity. \nO’Brien\, Clifford\, and O’Shea added important points from play. DESCRIPTION:Waterford defeated Tipperary by 1-12 to 1-11 in the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship Semi-Final on Saturday July 22nd at UPMC Nowlan Park Kilkenny. \n\n\nREPORT: @deisecamogie are through to their first All-Ireland Senior Camogie Final since 1945 after a hard-fought victory over @camogietipp in today's Glen Dimplex All-Ireland semi-final. #GAABelong \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) July 22\, 2023 \n  \nWaterford bridge 78-year gap to reach All-Ireland final  \nBy Daragh Ó Conchúir\, at UPMC Nowlan Park \nWaterford 1-12 Tipperary 1-11  \nWaterford recovered from a very poor start to emerge narrow but probably deserved victors of a pulsating Glen Dimplex All-Ireland senior camogie semi-final at UPMC Nowlan Park\, in the process bridging a gap back to 1945 since their last appearance in a decider.  \nBeth Carton earned the player-of-the-match honours but she had significant rivals for that honour from the sensational Vikki Faulkner in defence and also in the supreme artistry of Lorraine Bray.  \nCarton did weigh in with eight points\, half of which came from play\, but perhaps the most significant overall contribution was that of Mairéad Power\, playing far closer to the opposition posts than she is accustomed to and carrying out her marking duties on Tipperary playmaker and joint-captain Karen Kennedy brilliantly.  \nWhat’s more\, Power’s 25th minute goal was critical in kick-starting the Déise resurgence after falling seven points behind and being a little lucky that that it wasn’t more.  \nIt was only when Kennedy was pushed forward late on that that the gifted Thurles Sarsfields player could impose herself in any way\, which is a testament to how well Power carried out her task.  \nThe first half was a magnificent affair played mostly in denting rain. The teams served up a feast however and Waterford probably went in the happiest at the interval\, despite trailing by 1-7 to 1-6.  \nThey had scored a goal and three points on the spin after falling seven behind with 20 minutes elapsed and while not able to maintain that scoring rate\, they kept Tipp to just two pointed frees for more than a half-hour after Cáit Devane’s 20th minute goal.  \nTipp had the better of the opening exchanges with Caoimhe Maher and Grace O’Brien pointing and though Abby Flynn got Waterford off the mark in the fifth minute\, they were not looking comfortable at all.  \nTipp were breaking the lines too easily and should have had more returns than they did\, shooting too early on a few occasions with vast expanses of space in front of them.  \nAt the other side\, the blue and gold defended resolutely\, getting in a host of blocks and hooks. Eimear McGrath slotted four points from frees and Róisín Howard was having a big impact\, leading Denis Kelly’s crew to edge clear.  \nIt was looking very good when Howard pounced on a defensive error\, drew the last Waterford player and slipped in Devane\, who blitzed a powerful shot high to the far corner of the net.  \nIt was 1-7 to 0-3 but a couple of big plays from Lorraine Bray helped reignite Waterford.  \nThe first was a most sublime and composed jab lift from the turf by Bray into the Power’s hand and the defender by nature rippled the net from close range.  \nSoon after\, Bray came from nowhere to make a block around her own 45 before advancing onto the break and picking up the loose sliotar without breaking stride. It’s 17 for Tipperary\, current panellist Mary Ryan having played in that 2006 defeat by Cork.  \nMeanwhile\, it’s 11 years since the final pairing comprised a team other than Cork\, Galway or Kilkenny\, when Wexford’s legendary outfit completed a three-in-a-row.  \nThe two sides know each other well. Tipperary had the upper hand initially when the Déise made their return to the top tier in 2016. The newbies made the quarter-finals at the third attempt but found Tipp too strong for them in Páirc Uí Chaoimh and the Premier ended their hopes at the same stage in 2020 and 2021.  \nWaterford finally laid the bogey in the group stages last year. It was Tipp’s only defeat and they missed out on reaching the last six for the first time in eight campaigns as a result\, on score difference. In the meantime\, the Suirsiders finally cleared the quarter-final hurdle and gave Cork a huge fight in the semi\, leading entering the final quarter before the Rebels prevailed.  \nBoth squads were under new management this term and Waterford\, led by All-Ireland U21 and minor-winning manager Seán Power\, won the Division 1B Very League title before recording a first victory over Cork since their return to elite camogie in the Munster Championship. Tipperary dampened the mood quickly though\, with a resounding victory on the way to claiming provincial honours.  \nTipp boss Denis Kelly had served as coach under Bill Mullaney\, who had overseen huge progress. The League was decent\, though losing to Kilkenny when a win would have put them through to the Division 1A decider was disappointing.   \nThey chiselled out a draw against their old rivals to ensure top spot in the group however and after a comfortable victory over Antrim\, who were also defeated convincingly by Waterford in their group\, are back in the semi-finals\, having pushed subsequent champions Galway all the way at the penultimate stage two years ago.  \nCáit Devane\, Karen Kennedy\, Róisín Howard and Eimear McGrath are among Tipp’s pivotal performers\, while Waterford will be looking to Beth Carton\, Niamh Rockett\, Lorraine Bray and Annie Fitzgerald among others to perform. Getting the match-ups right could be the decisive factor in this one.

DESCRIPTION:Cork defeated Galway by 0-15 to 2-6 in the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship Semi-Final on Saturday July 22nd at UPMC Nowlan Park Kilkenny. \n\n\nREPORT: @CorkCamogie advanced to the All-Ireland @OfficialCamogie Final following a hard earned win over @GalwayCamogie96 \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) July 22\, 2023 \n  \nCork grind it out against Galway  \nBy Daragh Ó Conchúir\, at UPMC Nowlan Park  \nCork 0-15 Galway 2-6  \nCork ended a run of eight consecutive losses against Galway\, including three this year alone\, to emerge victorious in a fiercely fought Glen Dimplex All-Ireland senior camogie semi-final at UPMC Nowlan Park.  \nIn front of a strong overall attendance for the televised double header of 7\,257\, the Rebels held the upper hand for most of proceedings but they found it difficult to shake off their doughty opponents.  \nWith Waterford in the opposite corner for a unique derby final pairing\, Cork will be looking to end another losing record\, having fallen short in the last four national deciders stretching back to the 2021 All-Ireland.  \nThis was a game that was less elemental than the first semi-final\, cagier\, with a little more testiness between players who know each other well.  \nCork could find their go-to players more easily than Galway\, and whereas Matthew Twomey could introduce Laura Hayes\, Cliona Healy\, Orla Cronin\, Ashling Thompson and Orlaith Cahalane off his bench\, Cathal Murray has been shorn of the talents of Niamh Kilkenny\, Sarah Dervan\, Sarah Healy\, Catriona Cormican and Heather Cooney to name just five this year.  \nThe westerners\, who got the better of the duel between the counties in the Very League Division 1 final\, battled all the way to the line\, with Aoife Donohue driving them forward and Róisín Black a resolute presence in defence\, but Cork would not be denied.  \nLibby Coppinger and official player of the match Saoirse McCarthy had huge second halves and with the subs having a big involvement\, the Cork victory was merited.   \nIt was 0-6 to 1-2 at half-time of this arm wrestle\, Mackey slotting two points and O’Connor three on her way to a tally of seven.\nSiobhán McGrath buried the first of her two goals in the 17th minute however\, thanks to a real bit of magic by Donohue to somehow get a pass off to Rachel Hanniffy\, who in turn supplied the Sarsfields finisher who drove low beyond the advancing Amy Lee.  \nDonohue brought the teams level but half-time sub Hayes and O’Connor pushed Cork clear\, while Healy also hit the first of her two points from the bench as Matthew Twomey’s crew moved four clear.  \nBack came Galway with McGrath’s second goal\, after Lee failed to gather\, but with so much experience and talent to call upon\, as well as vast reservoirs of grit\, the Cork response was notable.  \nHealy lofted her second and when McCarthy\, who had powered into the fray in the second half\, pointed gloriously from a tight angle\, after taking the return from a quickly-taken sideline and making ground up the left before cutting in\, felt significant.  \nWith O’Connor bringing her tally to seven and Orlaith Cahalane making it a fourth point from subs for Cork\, they would not be pegged back.   \nSCORERS FOR CORK: A O’Connor 0-7(5fs\, 1 45); K Mackey\, C Healy 0-2 each; L Hayes\, O Cahalane\, C Sigerson(f)\, S McCarthy 0-1 each\nSCORERS FOR GALWAY: C Dolan 0-4(3fs); S McGrath 2-0; A Donohue 0-2  \nCORK: A Lee\, M Murphy\, L Coppinger\, P Mackey\, M Cahalane\, L Treacy\, I O’Regan\, A Healy\, H Looney\, C Sigerson\, F Keating\, S McCarthy\, S McCartan\, K Mackey\, A O’Connor\nSubs: L Hayes for Murphy (ht)\, O Cronin for McCartan (40); A Thompson for O’Regan (49)  \nGALWAY: F Ryan\, S Healy\, R Black\, D Higgins\, R Hanniffy\, E Helebert\, A Keane\, A Donohue\, S Gardiner\, S Spellman\, C Dolan\, N Hanniffy\, N McPeake\, S McGrath\, A O’Reilly\nSubs: S Rabbitte for McPeake (33)\, O McGrath for Gardiner (50)  \nREFEREE: Ray Kelly (Kildare)  \n\nCork v Galway\, UPMC Nowlan Park\, 5.30pm\nReferee: Ray Kelly (Kildare)\nLive on RTÉ2 & RTÉ Player \nOn pure form figures and a head-to-head from this year\, there can only be one winner. But while Cork were bitterly disappointed each of the three times they lost to Galway in the space of two months this year as their run of losses to the Tribeswomen stretched to eight consecutive League and Championship ties since the 2019 All-Ireland semi-final\, it would be foolish to discount Matthew Twomey’s side.  \nThere was a League title up for grabs of course in the second of this year’s encounters\, after Galway had beaten the Rebels in Páirc Uí Chaoimh to earn their spot in the decider. They then came out on top of another tight game in the opening championship tie\, ensuring the Tribeswomen topped their group and came out of the hat for a direct run to the last four.  \nThat was what Cork wanted too but having lost four national finals in a row and fallen short in a number of close games\, coming out on top by a point to Kilkenny\, the team that had denied them by that margin in last year’s All-Ireland final\, had to have been a huge boost\, particularly as they were better value for that victory than the minimum margin.  \nOnce more\, their conversion rate was not what it should be but the direct running and pace of Saoirse McCarthy and Fiona Keating to name just two created so many opportunities that they deservedly advanced\, despite a late Denise Gaule-inspired wobble. They also got Ashling Thompson\, Orla Cronin and Laura Hayes on the pitch in the closing stages.  \nGalway did tremendously to win the League as they were down even more than Cork for a variety of reasons. The likes of Niamh Kilkenny and Sarah Healy remain unavailable but they are closer to full strength than at any time this year. That they could win the League while giving experience to so many younger players was a considerable achievement.  \nCathal Murray has always rewarded Spring form over previous heroics. He is used to dealing with the three-week break too and the dual All-Ireland winner has seen the likes of Carrie Dolan assume a strong leadership mantle alongside stalwarts Aoife Donohue and new captain\, Shauna Healy.  \nThe Tribeswomen are very strong defensively so the match-ups with the likes of Amy O’Connor and Katrina Mackey as well as the speedsters further out will be interesting. The green and white team trailed by five then\, 2-10 to 0-11. \nBy the end Limerick were nine point winners. Clinical and classy Limerick retained the Liam McCarthy Cup. It was a remarkable finish from Limerick. \nA defence that encountered bother initially was suddenly inspired as Kilkenny only landed two scores from play in the closing 28 minutes. \nCian Lynch and David Reidy supplied gorgeous touches\, while inside Peter Casey was splendid after the restart. The Na Piarsaigh clubman rifled five second half points\, each one a beauty. \nKey players were missing through injury\, including Seán Finn and Declan Hannon\, but Limerick were still able to survive and thrive. \nAt the outset Kilkenny\, with Tom Phelan highly effective\, thundered into the contest planting a 10th minute goal. \nConor Fogarty’s delivery caused a bit of panic with Eoin Cody reacting smartly to net an opportunistic major. \nPhelan subsequently added a point to edge Kilkenny 1-2 to 0-2 ahead in the 11th minute. \nLimerick\, who only had two shots from play in the first quarter\, trimmed the deficit down to 1-4 to 0-5 by the 19th minute as Aaron Gillane and Diarmaid Byrnes clipped frees. \nResilient and resourceful\, Kilkenny enjoyed an encouraging burst with four points on the spin from TJ Reid (three frees) and brother Richie Reid. \nThat gave the striped team a 1-8 to 0-5 cushion\, but Limerick finished the half strongly clipping four of the next five points. \nLynch and Gillane were effective in that spell for Limerick\, who were 1-9 to 0-9 behind at the turnaround. \nWhen the action recommenced Diarmaid Byrnes landed two long range frees reducing the gap to the minimum. \nKilkenny replied as Phelan mined a point from play before also being involved in the build up for Paddy Deegan’s 42nd minute goal. Eoin Murphy\, Richie Reid\, and Phelan all occupied roles with Deegan scoring from an acute angle. \nLimerick were unperturbed. Five points without reply were struck by Kiely’s charges with Peter Casey\, Barry Nash\, Gearoid Hegarty\, Byrnes (free)\, and Gillane raising white flags. \nTJ Reid terminated a seven minute search for a Kilkenny score\, but Limerick embarked on another spree. It was sufficient to steer them 0-21 to 2-11 ahead. \nUnder severe duress Kilkenny remained defiant with Limerick trimming the margin down to 0-22 to 2-14 with 10 minutes left on the clock. \nIn the dying embers\, though\, Kilkenny only managed to score once more\, while Limerick were now very much in the groove. \nCasey was drilling over points with real aplomb; Kyle Hayes scampered forward to provide a vital score\, and substitute Cathal O’Neill was making an impact. \nLimerick were admirably efficient\, converting 0-21 from 26 chances in the second half. That was a vital statistic. DESCRIPTION:Dublin defeated Cork by 2-19 to 0-13 in the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies SFC Semi-Final on Saturday July 29th at FBD Semple Stadium Thurles. \n\n\nREPORT: @dublinladiesg are back in the TG4 All-Ireland senior ladies football championship final for the first time since 2021 after their win over @CorkLGFA at FBD Semple Stadium in Thurles. #GAABelong \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) July 29\, 2023 \n  \nDublin 2-19 Cork 0-13  \nBy Anthony Newman \nDublin are back in the TG4 All-Ireland senior ladies football championship final for the first time since 2021 after their win over Cork at FBD Semple Stadium in Thurles. \nA goal by Hannah Tyrrell in the 22nd minute\, which the officials took a lengthy look at before it was awarded\, was a crucial score as it put her side into a commanding lead and they never looked back from here.  \nKey to their win was the pressure they put on Cork kick-outs\, giving the Rebels no room to clear their lines.\nNiamh Donlon opened the scoring for Dublin three minutes in with Doireann O’Sullivan equalising from a free with Cork’s next attack.  \nJennifer Dunne put Dublin back in front before they had goalkeeper Abby Shiels to thank as she brilliantly saved from Maire O’Callaghan. But the referee was playing advantage and O’Sullivan added her second from the placed ball.\nDunne and Orlagh Nolan added points for Dublin as they led 0-4 to 0-2 after eight minutes.  \nCarla Rowe and O’Sullivan exchanged points\, before Dunne and Hannah Tyrrell\, from a free\, put Dublin 0-7 to 0-3 up after 17 minutes.\nDoireann O’Sullivan got her fourth\, all from frees\, to put three between the sides\, with Tyrrell replying to increase Dublin’s lead again.\nThey were now on top and further points from Tyrrell and Jodi Egan increased their lead.  \nA mistake from the Cork defence let Tyrrell in on goal and she passed to Dunne\, who then returned it for the former to goal.\nThe referee consulted with the umpires and after a long consultation awarded the goal.  \nIt put Dublin in a commanding lead 1-9 to 0-4 and with just 22 minutes gone they had one foot in the final.\nA minute later Katie Quirke got Cork’s first point from play as they tried to get back into contention.\nTwo late points from Cork reduced the deficit as Dublin deservedly led by 1-10 to 0-7 at half time.  \nCork started the second half brightly with Hannah Looney and Daire Kiely going close before Aoife Healy pointed. In a glittering list of achievements this triumph over Kerry will be fondly remembered. \nFrom the outset it was apparent that this encounter would go the distance. Intriguing duels were taking place in every sector with two diligent defensive units one of the chief talking points in a cagey opening period. \nFitzsimons was detailed with marking David Clifford. At the opposite end of the field Graham O’Sullivan was shadowing Ciarán Kilkenny\, and Tadhg Morley faced with Con O’Callaghan. Paul Mannion was instrumental\, clipping scores either side of a Colm Basquel effort to level with 14 minutes left on the clock. \nBrian Fenton\, a key contributor\, guided Dublin ahead in the 64th minute. Kerry substitute Killian Spillane replied to restore parity. \nPaddy Small edged Dublin in front once more\, but Seán O’Shea levelled in additional time. \nUnsurprisingly it was chaotic\, but Dublin stayed the distance. Fittingly Mannion nudged over a critical score before David Clifford missed a chance for Kerry from an acute angle. \nA last gasp free from substitute Dean Rock sealed the deal for Dublin. \n\n\nEmotion alert!
