DESCRIPTION:Kerry defeated Derry by 2-22 to 0-13 in Round 1 of the Allianz Hurling League Division 2A on Saturday February 4th at Celtic Park. \n\n\nWalsh off early but Kerry survive Derry fightback to bag opening day points https://t.co/19IkJDQ81p \n— Irish Examiner Sport (@ExaminerSport) February 5\, 2023 \n  \nWalsh off early but Kerry survive Derry fightback to bag opening day points \nAllianz HL Division 2A: Derry 0-14 Kerry 2-22 \nReport by Michael Wilson for the Irish Examiner newspaper \nKERRY withstood the fourth-minute sending off of playmaker Colin Walsh to ease to a comfortable opening day Division 2A victory over Derry in Celtic Park. \nWalsh was dismissed for an off-the-ball incident with the game still in its infancy but even a man short\, the Kingdom always looked to have too much for the home side who had seen 14 of last year’s promotion panel depart in the close season and new manager Johnny McGarvey only appointed three weeks ago. \nThat close season upheaval eventually told but only after a brave home effort had taken the Oak Leafers to within two points of Kerry with 20 minutes to play. Derry were in the ascendency at that stage before a mistake from keeper Eoin Mulholland\, who lost the flight of substitute Paudie O’Connor’s long hopeful effort\, gifted Kerry their opening goal. From there Stephen Molumphy’s men eased away to a somewhat flattering margin of victory. \nWith Daithi Griffin and Shane Conway superb throughout\, and Padraig Boyle deadly from frees as he hit 0-11 of 13 placed balls\, Kerry always looked likely winners but Molumphy won’t have been fooled by the double-score victory\, there is plenty of room for improvement. \nDespite trailing 0-2 to 0-1 when Walsh got his marching orders\, losing a man didn’t stop Kerry taking a grip of the game as they eventually turned around with a 0-13 to 0-8 lead though Derry probably should have been closer. \nKerry introduced Brandon Barrett and Kyle O’Connor at the break but the third quarter belonged to Derry despite a Boyle free getting Kerry up and running first. Two Cormac O’Doherty frees brought it back to 0-14 to 0-10 before a superb Eoin Ross score was cancelled out by a Meehaul McGrath point. \nThree Derry points in succession had the game in the melting pot at 0-16 to 0-14 with Kerry looking anxiously over their shoulder. Points from Boyle and Griffin eased those worries but even at four points\, the game was still there for either county. \nO’Connor’s goal changed that and the former Kerry captain will never score an easier one\, Mullholland completely unsighted by the blinding low sun as the ball bounce three times before finding the net. Tipperary arrived at Semple Stadium in brilliant shape and their showing against their neighbours gave plenty of notice as to the intentions of the Premier County in the competition – Tipp won the last of their 19 titles in 2008. \nA perfect evening for hurling\, this game featured not just the clash of Tipperary\, but also the clash of clubmates Liam Cahill and WIlliam Maher who were in opposing corners as Managers of Tipperary and Laois\, but who soldiered together in the same maroon and white colours of Ballingarry for many years – it was an interesting sidebar to the game which was a repeat of last year’s Allianz opener\, though the match on that occasion was played in O’Moore Park\, Portlaoise. \nHowever\, the games were totally different in their form. A year ago Laois gave Tipperary a right battle in what was Colm Bonnar’s first outing as Tipp Manager in the League. On this occasion there was no such battle. Tipperary totally whitewashed the visitors who were simply unable to match the crisp\, precise play of the Premier lads allied to their huge workrate epitomised by midfielder Conor Stakelum\, who dashed all over the field and helped himself to three points from play in the first half. \nTipperary took a massive 1-17 to 0-7 interval lead to the dressing room with them – centre forward Gearoid O’Connor accounting for eight of those scores in his league debut. The goal came in the 12th minute from Seamus Kennedy after he had been set up by the very influential Patrick ‘Bonnar’ Maher – hurling off the edge of the square\, Bonnar was central to all that was good about Tipperary on the night and set up so many scores in that first half\, without actually managing a raised flag himself. \nWhile Tipperary were throwing the ball about brilliantly and John McGrath (2)\, Cian Dwyer (2)\, Sean Ryan and Ronan Maher also had scores\, there were also eleven wides from Liam Cahill’s men – one aspect of the game he would not have been pleased with. \nBut\, there was a lot to like from Tipp even if Laois were totally off the pace and even by the half way mark\, they were fighting for pride – PJ Scully (3)\, Fiachra Fennell\, Tomas Keyes (2) and William Dunphy accounting for their scores.  \nTipperary ended up with 13 scores on the board by game end with 1-5 struck by substitutes. Jake Morris accounted for 1-2 of that total with his goal coming right at the end when the game had been well and truly put to bed. \nLaois fared a little better in the second half but they still ended up on the receiving end of a very stern lesson in precision hurling. A 20 point defeat is a chastening one and William Maher will have much to do to rally the troops again. Brian Lynch shot eight points for Waterford (seven frees) in a stop-start game that featured 57 frees. \nCarlow centre back Jordan Morrissey curled over a peach off his right boot from 45 metres to open the scoring. Three Brian Lynch frees left Waterford 3-1 ahead after seven minutes. The visitors replied with five unanswered points including three Darragh Foley frees. Lynch’s fourth free was Waterford’s first score in 23 minutes. Déise captain Dermot Ryan added another off the ground before the break as Carlow led 6-5. \nFoley converted two more Carlow frees on the restart before Lynch landed Waterford’s first from play on 42 minutes. \nA minute later\, Foley won a high ball and laid it off to Niall Hickey who finished low to the net (1-8 to 0-6). Foley and Conor Crowley extended the lead to eight. Foley then crashed a ball off the crossbar. However\, the loss of O’Flynn to a suspected ankle injury necessitated 10 minutes of injury time and four points moved Limerick into a 0-22 to 2-14 lead. \nCork continued to push though and Patrick Horgan’s tenth point was followed by Conor Lehane’s first. After a goal half-chance was cleared\, Lehane’s sideline cut found Horgan\, who provided the pass for sub Kingston to create space and shoot the winner. \nBoth sides had seven of the same starters as in their last championship outings – Cork’s All-Ireland quarter-final loss to Galway and Limerick’s final win over Kilkenny – but the Shannonsiders showed no real signs of being unsettled by the various changes in the first half. \nOf course\, John Kiely’s side were still able to rely on players like Dan Morrissey and Declan Hannon in the half-back line\, Darragh O’Donovan at midfield and half-forwards Gearóid Hegarty and Tom Morrisey\, making it easy to plug in other options around those pillars. \nLimerick led by 0-16 to 0-8 at half-time\, but the large-looking margin was mainly the result of a six-point surge between the 31st minute and the whistle. Up to then\, Cork had competed well but throughout the first half there was a leakiness in terms of shooting – five wides by the 11th minute and nine in the opening period as a whole as well as four attempts left short. \nGoal opportunities were at a premium for the Rebels in that first half\, with the only real half-chance coming in the 14th minute as Conor Lehane’s pass allowed Robbie O’Flynn to use his pace well but his low shot was from a tight angle and it travelled across the face of goal and wide without ever really looking like it would trouble goalkeeper David McCarthy. \nLast year\, Limerick trained hard during the league\, giving the false impression that they might be faltering – this time\, they look to have more done than at the same stage in 2022 and that was displayed with some excellent team moves leading to scores. \nIn the 21st minute\, the tireless Hegarty was back near his own goal\, helping to prevent a Cork attacking developing into something dangerous; six passes later\, he was slotting over his third point for a 0-10 to 0-5 advantage. \nCork’s response to that was good\, with Patrick Horgan landing two (one free) and his Glen Rovers clubmate\, full-back Eoin Downey\, capping a good league debut with a fine effort. \nThat left them just two behind at the half-hour mark\, but – after Cork captain Seán O’Donoghue was forced off injured – Limerick turned on the turbo and Barry Murphy\, Colin Coughlan and Séamus Flanagan were among the scorers as they eased into that eight-point half-time advantage. \nIn the space of 11 minutes\, it has been wiped out\, with Brian Roche among those impressing for Cork. After a Horgan free\, for which he had been fouled\, Ciarán Joyce’s ball found Declan Dalton and his pass allowed Robbie O’Flynn to fire home a great shot. \nWhile David Reidy had his sixth for Limerick in reply\, O’Flynn set up Horgan for two more Cork points and then the Erin’s Own man was also the provider for the equalising goal. Though his low ball across looked to have evaded everybody\, Dalton showed good desire to reach the sliothar and send a ground shot to the net. \nAdam English did put Limerick back in front\, but Cork’s play was more cohesive than in the first half and they retained the momentum. Horgan tied the game again with his eighth\, his fourth from play\, and the noise levels rose as Joyce landed a big one from distance to put the home side in front for the first time. \nAnother from Horgan left it 2-14 to 0-18 before another Reidy free and a long hold-up due to a nasty injury to the influential O’Flynn. They were clearly up for the challenge. And having eked out narrow wins in both of their knockout games in January\, they never panicked to create their own bit of history. \nIt was a brilliant collective team effort\, with man-of-the-match Ger O’Dwyer leading the way delivering a rock-solid defensive performance. As well\, six points from the stick of free-taker Ronan Connolly were crucial. \nWith the teams locked 0-11 apiece\, Eanna Ormond supplied the winner in the second minute of stoppage. \nIt was a disappointing result for CBS Thurles who were seeking their ninth title – their most recent in 2015 – and it will be little consolation that they came up short only by the minimum. \nIt was a nervous start from both teams\, Robbie Ryan eventually getting the scoreboard moving in the seventh minute. When he added a second free three minutes later\, CBS Thurles with the wind at their backs were two ahead. \nWhen Ronan Connolly – the joint-captain listed as number eight but lining out in the full-forward line – split the posts from a placed ball\, Cashel CS got going. They picked off the next three points\, two from their free-taker Connolly. \nNotably\, the first white flag from play didn’t arrive until the18th minute\, that was courtesy of Fabian Ryan for Cashel CS to lead 0-4 to 0-2. \nThe final 10 minutes of the half belonged to CBS Thurles. Maher floated over a free before Aidan Stakelum combined with Daniel Rossiter and Joe Egan to level the game. and three minutes from the end of regulation\, Tommy Maher scored his second point to leave CBS Thurles narrowly in front\, 0-5 to 0-4. \nJust like in the first-half\, the restart was slow to get going. Tommy Maher extended the Thurles lead from a free. Ben Currivan and Connolly answered\, 0-6 apiece. \nDavid McGrath had a chance for a Cashel CS goal\, but under pressure it trickled out wide only for the referee to call back for a free that Connolly converted. The same player added a ’65 and a free\, 0-8 to 0-7 at the end of the third quarter. \nAs the intensity upped\, Cashel CS began to stamp their authority and a point each from Oisin O’Donoghue and Adam Daly made it a three-point match. \nHowever\, and in keeping with the nature of the day\, CBS Thurles bounced back with a trio of points to draw level\, 0-10 each\, and four minutes remaining. \nThe teams were tied once more through David McGrath and Tommy Maher before Eanna Ormond sealed the historic win with his 62nd minute point. \nCashel CS had a number of chances to extend their lead. It was a period of comfortable Kerry dominance\, during which they outgunned their opponents by 2-5 to 0-4. \nKerry’s first goal arrived four minutes into the second half\, Darragh Roche at the end of a move involving the lively Michéal Burns and livelier Donal O’Sullivan. \nGoal number two brought the loudest roar of the day from the majority home support in a swelled 10\,232 crowd. Following a Jack Barry dispossession of Monaghan’s Gary Mohan\, Kerry sub Paudie Clifford ran 80 metres before slotting the ball past Rory Beggan. \nAnd when another sub\, Killian Spillane\, threw over a mark on 58 minutes\, Kerry’s four-point interval lead had grown to 11. Game over. \nDonal O’Sullivan was duly rewarded for an industrious afternoon when supplying Kerry’s third green flag in second half injury-time. Monaghan were operating with 14 men by this juncture\, Ryan O’Toole having received a straight red card for a challenge on Stefan Okunbor. \nThe third quarter\, although lopsided\, was a great deal more engaging than the opening 35 minutes. \nIt was a first half full of frees and unnecessary fouls. It was a first half too of Conor Lane fussiness. \nThe net result was that it was a first half without flow. \nFour of Monaghan’s opening five white flags were placed ball efforts\, while their first score from play by a forward did not arrive until Conor McCarthy employed the left boot to good effect on 26 minutes. \nAs for Kerry\, three of their opening seven were converted dead-ball kicks by Tony Brosnan. The Crokes forward\, though named in the inside line\, spent much of the half in the unfamiliar role of serving as a link man out around the middle. \nThat left two inexperienced lads inside\, Darragh Roche and Donal O’Sullivan\, but useful targets the pair proved. O’Sullivan\, making his first League start\, kicked two first half points\, ditto Roche. \nTrailing by 0-7 to 0-6 on 27 minutes\, Karl Gallagher had an opportunity to bring the visitors level. His effort\, though\, dropped short. The gap went in only one direction thereafter\, with Dara Moynihan\, fellow half-forward colleague Micheál Burns\, and the aforementioned O’Sullivan stretching their lead out to four come the interval. \nThe half’s closing spell captured the fundamental difference between the sides. Their task became easier when Alex Beirne was sent off for kicking out in the 50th minute. \nTo keep a clean sheet after conceding three to Meath will be most pleasing for John Cleary and his management group. Brian Hurley and Brian O’Driscoll were other highlights\, the pair providing seven points between them. Substitute Cathail O’Mahony capped the win with a late goal. \nIn front of a fine St Conleth’s Park crowd\, Kildare’s abject display on the back of an encouraging display against Dublin in Croke Park last weekend creates early season difficulties for Glenn Ryan. \nThe opening 10 minutes were largely forgettable as neither side truly engaged with the other and kick-passes were a rarity. The second of the game\, via Steven Sherlock\, was the catalyst for the opening score of the game in the 11th minute when Hurley graciously received it to turn and point. \nAnother kick-pass was caught by Hurley for an advanced mark\, which he converted in the 14th minute. From the resultant kick-out\, Cork pressurised Kildare into losing possession\, the ball was worked up to Hurley who squared his hand-pass perfectly into the path of the on-running Seán Powter who palmed the ball past Mark Donnellan. \nWith no urgency in Kildare attacks\, a disciplined Cork were having no difficulty turning them over and Sherlock sent over the next two scores\, one from a 45. Direct ball to Colm O’Callaghan produced a fifth Cork point and Sherlock followed it up with a 25th minute after the impressive Hurley was fouled. \nJimmy Hyland eventually raised a white flag for Kildare in the 28th minute but Brian O’Driscoll cancelled it out. Watch it with GAANOW. pic.twitter.com/u5PxfmD8VB \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) February 7\, 2023 \n  \n\n\nMeath hit four goals as they defeat Clare to go two from two https://t.co/gVU6R8RdDp \n— Irish Examiner Sport (@ExaminerSport) February 5\, 2023 \n  \nMeath hit four goals as they defeat Clare to go two from two \nAllianz Football League\, Division 2\, Round 2  \nMeath 4-8 Clare 0-16 \nReport by Paul Keane for the Irish Examiner newspaper \nA slightly schizophrenic afternoon for Meath in Navan but ultimately another win to leave the Royals still unbeaten in 2023 under new manager Colm O’Rourke and top of the Division 2 table. \nFor the second weekend running\, Meath used goals as their battering ram to victory with Donal Lenihan helping himself to two of them and both Jordan Morris and Jason Scully accounting for majors too. \nYet while the hosts twice opened up leads of nine points\, midway through the first-half and again in the closing stages\, they could never quite shake off a determined Clare who kicked 16 points on the day. \nMeath also conceded a high tally against Cork\, 0-19\, though with three goals on that occasion and four this time\, they’ve been raising enough green flags to get by. \nThey will head to Derry next in Round 3 knowing that the concession rate will need to drop considerably while Clare\, despite the loss\, will leave Páirc Tailteann in relatively good spirits and will be hopeful of getting back to winning ways against Kildare in Ennis on February 19. \nO’Rourke changed almost a third of his Meath team from the Páirc Uí Chaoimh win with starts for Adam O’Neill\, Harry O’Higgins and Jack O’Connor in defence\, along with Lenihan in attack. \nThere were three changes for Clare too from the side that stole a dramatic one-point win over Louth last weekend. \nThose were all enforced switches with Darren O’Neill (thumb)\, captain Eoin Cleary (sickness) and Keelan Sexton (hamstring) replaced by Darragh Bohannon\, Ciaran Downes and Gavin Cooney. \nWolfe Tones man O’Neill fared strongly on his full National League debut for Meath while Dunboyne’s Lenihan\, who featured in all three of their O’Byrne Cup games\, drilled 12th and 18th minute goals. \nMeath opted for long\, direct deliveries into their full-forward line whenever the opportunity was on and Morris hinted at the success it would bring for them when he pointed in the eighth minute following a terrific fetch and advanced mark. \nLenihan’s first goal four minutes later was all about what the Royals could do closer to the ground with Morris cutting the ball back from the right endline and Lenihan finishing with a first-time\, soccer style shot. \nBut it was back to the long ball for the second goal with Ronan Jones arrowing in a diagonal delivery from the left and Lenihan rising highest to redirect it to the net. \nFrom the resulting kick-out\, Morris won possession and punished goalkeeper David Sexton by blasting low to the bottom right corner. \nSuddenly\, Meath were 3-2 to 0-2 ahead and apparently on the verge of routing the visitors. \nThey only scored one more point in the half though with the 13th minute injury enforced departure of Shane Walsh\, who struck 1-7 against Cork\, along with a significant improvement from Clare\, allowing the Banner to come strongly into the contest. \nFive points in a row from Clare\, with three of those from UL’s Emmett McMahon\, hauled them right back and while Meath still led by 3-3 to 0-7 at half-time\, the five-point margin flattered them. \nClare went with a two-man inside forward line of Cooney and Podge Collins initially and Jamie Malone\, wearing number 10\, played mainly as an extra defender. \nKingscourt clubman Morris had a terrific chance for a second goal shortly after the restart but Sexton saved and when substitute Aaron Griffin then pointed for Clare\, the margin was down to four. \nThe four-point gap remained between them after 45 minutes but another surge of Meath scoring\, climaxing with Scully’s goal when he slid the ball low to the net\, reopened a nine-point margin and put the result almost beyond doubt. \nIn front of a vocal home support\, Meath would have preferred to finish with a flourish but five Clare points in a row from Podge Collins\, McMahon\, Bohannon and sub Mark McInerney left O’Rourke with some thinking to do ahead of the Derry date. \nScorers for Meath: D Lenihan (2-2\, 0-2 frees); A foul by Shane McNulty on Paul Crummey gave Burke the opportunity to tie the game for the ninth and final time. \nIt was a dream start for Fitzgerald’s side as they raced 1-5 to 0-0 up in the first quarter. In the second minute\, Michael Kiely was fouled by Paddy Doyle for a Waterford penalty. The Dublin defender was shown a black card by referee Liam Gordon and Stephen Bennett blasted the penalty to the bottom corner past (1-1 to 0-0). Bennett’s second free gave the home side a five point lead after just six minutes. Jack Fagan fired over Waterford’s first from play from inside his own 65. Brothers Tom and Jamie Barron also raised white flags as Davy Fitzgerald’s side stretched the lead to eight with only twelve on the clock. \nDónal Burke belted over Dublin’s first on seventeen minutes. Reuben Halloran whipped left and wide at the other end. Jamie Barron cut through the middle but his shot was saved by Seán Brennan. \nOn 23 minutes\, Conor Prunty played a loose stick pass off a short puckout and Dublin capitalised. Cian O’Sullivan swapped pass with Alex Considine before the full forward rounded Shaun O’Brien and found the net (1-6 to 1-3). A Conor Donohoe point from distance cut the gap to two. \nBennett hit three more frees to bring his first half tally to 1-6. Two minutes before the break\, O’Sullivan slipped past Conor Gleeson and rifled the ball to the roof of the Waterford net (1-9 to 2-6). Tom Barron and Donal Burke traded points in injury time as the sides went in level at the break. \nEleven minutes into the second period\, Daire Gray brought down Michael Kiely for a second Waterford penalty. Bennett dispatched it again despite the best efforts of Brennan (2-12 to 2-9). The biggest cheer of the afternoon was for the double introduction of Austin Gleeson and Dessie Hutchinson off the bench. The Sky Blues rebounded with Alex Considine and Cian Boland points. Dessie Farrell’s charges put down a dominant opening half\, where they opened a 13-point advantage.  \nDublin last visited Shannonside for a League match in 2007\, when a side which included Stephen Cluxton\, Diarmuid Connolly and Alan Brogan won by just a point. \nFollowing a heavy defeat to Derry last week\, Limerick’s round three trip to Louth appears to of huge significance for new manager\, Ray Dempsey. His side performed better in some facets this time out\, but couldn’t match the quality shown by Dublin\, who had superb movement close to goal from Lorcan O’Dell and Con O’Callaghan. \nThe visitors accounted for ten of the first eleven scores\, including a 13th minute penalty from Dean Rock. This arrived when Gordon Browne fouled O’Callaghan who was looking to find the net himself. \nThe second goal\, from Brian Fenton\, also involved O’Callaghan. He was denied by a quality Donal O’Sullivan save\, only for the 2020 Footballer of the Year to arrive to palm to the net. \nLimerick rallied\, somewhat\, and the last six points were shared evenly. Among those was a nice score from the busy James Naughton. Cian Sheehan’s second point meant it was Limerick 0-5 – Dublin 2-12 at half time. \nLimerick started the second half with some impetus and a goal from Hugh Bourke on 39 minutes helped their cause. Dempsey will have liked the spirit and the quality\, as they had three further points\, through Naughton (free)\, Bourke and Adrian Enright. \nDessie Farrell saw his side go 18 second half minutes without a point until Dean Rock landed a free. Ross McGarry’s fourth soon eased any lingering doubt of a comeback. Kerry’s dominance of this grade is now extended to 10 titles in a row.  \nRoco were the first Cork school to appear in this final since their 2015 replay defeat to Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne as they chased a first title since 1950. \nBut an injury list including a trio of star attackers in joint-captain Bryan Hayes\, Harry Quilligan\, and Miceál O’Mahony\, and midfielder Kevin Lyons\, magnified the size of that task. Then Barry Kelliher\, the midfielder who came in for Lyons\, limped off after nine minutes\, although they did at least get second-half minutes out of Quilligan and O’Mahony. \nThe Sem had nine of the first 10 shots of the match\, with Jamie Moynihan\, Seán Fitzgerald\, and captain Cian Lynch flying forward to link defence and attack\, but only led 0-3 to 0-1 at the end of that period. \nKelleher picked out Crowley – son of former Kerry All-Star Johnny – for two points\, while Alex Hennigan finished off another one-two move involving Aodhán O’Neill. \nRoco were on the board through an early Seán Coakley free and their best moment came with two Evan O’Connor points in the 20th minute. Both were the result of good work from the wing-backs Donnacha O’Callaghan and Callum O’Neill. \nThe Sem kept failing to maximise their chances\, returning just one point from three consecutive goal chances. \nCrowley’s attempt to lob Mikey O’Connell floated over the bar and O’Connell produced a flying save to block Cillian Courtney’s effort before Callum Cronin was fouled as he was about the pull the trigger by Luis Dwan-Fogarty for a 27th-minute penalty. Aodhán O’Neill sent O’Connell the wrong way but missed the left-hand post. \nA second Hennigan point doubled their half-time lead\, 0-5 to 0-3. \nThey had two more on the resumption from Kelleher and Hennigan as Roco couldn’t muster an attacking threat due to St Brendan’s midfield supremacy. \nThe Sem were in again in the 34th minute as Crowley turned down an attacking mark to drive for goal. He found the net but referee Jonathan Hayes called him back for overcarrying. \nThey added more points from Moynihan\, with an outside-of-the-boot point his father\, Kerry legend Séamus\, would’ve been proud of\, followed by a Crowley free and an effort from Timmy Moynihan\, brother of Kerry senior Dara. \nO’Connell was effectively playing as fly-keeper for Roco by now but he still got back to save from Hennigan. \nRoco hadn’t scored for 33 minutes but when they did\, it was a goal that briefly reignited the contest. These sides had served up a tremendous Munster final last season and this game had some of the same qualities. Limerick’s score-taking and Clare’s ability to match the physicality was on offer once again. \nThe Treaty had no over-reliance on one player but it was man-of-the-match Mícheál Houlihan\, who top scored with 0-12. The Kilmallock clubman was making his first start at this grade\, following in the footsteps of his father\, Mike\, who hurled in green in the 1990s. \nIt was a high-tempo\, high-quality opening half\, particularly from Limerick. They had seven scorers and like last weekend against Cork\, they clocked up 0-16 points\, and conceded eight times. \nClare\, were living off scraps\, but there was a fine bit of class to their goal. A long\, dropping ball was expertly flicked down by Peter Duggan to Ian Galvin. \nThe Clonlara clubman\, which is just over the border from Limerick\, fired beyond Nickie Quaid\, despite the Effin native getting a hurley to the powerful shot. This made it 0-10 to 1-5 but the home side stretched their lead heading into the dressing rooms. \nClare had gone close to an earlier goal when McCarthy thundered a shot off the crossbar six minutes. \nFurther scores from Houlihan\, with three frees\, Adam English and Gearoid Hegarty. McCarthy had just a long range free in reply\, which left the Treaty seven clear at half-time. \nLimerick kept the foot on the pedal early in the second half\, with eight of the first nine scores. Kyle Hates\, Houlihan and youngster Shane O’Brien contributing\, as they did in the opening half. \nBrian Lohan’s side were too reliant on Aidan McCarthy\, he finished with 13 points\, including four from play in the closing stages. Indeed\, it took sub David Reidy to inject some real scoring threat into the forward line. He netted their second goal\, to go with two points\, but not before Limerick raised a green flag of their own. \nAdam English carried the ball from inside his own half to the Clare 13 meter line\, before passing to the free Donnacha Ó Dálaigh who finished with aplomb. However\, his team absorbed those setbacks and with the aid of the wind went about accumulating a handsome 2-13 first half total. \nTheir wide count spilled into double digits by the end of the period\, but they were so dominant it could be forgiven. Spoiling umpteen Kilkenny puck-outs\, turning over ball high up the field and winning most of the physical battles\, their efforts silenced the usually vocal home support in the 10\,458 crowd. \nWith Noel McGrath orchestrating matters at centre-forward\, they were four points to the good going into the 27th minute when they struck their first goal. Seamus Callanan’s pass found Jason Forde in space and his shot was too good for Aidan Tallis. \nTipperary had four goal openings in total in the first half\, Conor Bowe and Jake Morris being denied in the 22nd and 30th minutes\, but the latter made no mistake with his second opportunity six minutes into additional time. DESCRIPTION:Kerry defeated Carlow by 0-18 to 1-13 in Round 2 of the Allianz Hurling League Division 2A on Sunday February 12th at Austin Stack Park Tralee. \n\n\nKerry hang on for victory against 13-man Carlow https://t.co/Fun707INLs \n— Irish Examiner Sport (@ExaminerSport) February 12\, 2023 \n  \nKerry hang on for victory against 13-man Carlow \nAllianz Div 2A Hurling  \nKerry 0-18 Carlow 1-13  \nReport by Murt Murphy for the Irish Examiner newspaper \nA win is a win as far as Kerry manager Stephen Molumphy is concerned but this was a case of the result concealing a poor display by the Kingdom. \nThe hosts fell over the line against a Carlow side who finished with 13 players in their Allianz Hurling Division 2A game at Austin Stack Park\, Tralee. \nKerry who enjoyed a opening-round win away to Derry\, playing with 14 players for most of the game\, just never performed as they can.  \nThey notched 16 wides over the 70 minutes and were unable to create a single goal chance in what proved a tough watch for Kerry management and supporters. \nCarlow had the wind in the opening half and after 20 minutes they led 0-5 to 0-3 thanks to three points from Marty Kavanagh from placed balls and one each from play from Diarmuid Byrne and Kevin McDonald. All Kerry could muster was points from Eoin Ross\, Michael Leane and a Podge Boyle free as well as six wides. \nKerry continued with their profligacy in front of goal until half time and trailed 0-9 to 0-5 by the 33rd minute with Carlow adding points from Marty Kavanagh\, Fiachra Fitzpatrick\, Diarmuid Byrne and Jack Treacy while Shane Conway and Podge Boyle were on the mark for an otherwise misfiring Kerry attack. \nFionan Mackessy and another Boyle free saw Kerry retire only 0-9 to 0-7 down at half time but they can thank Mikey Boyle\, Kyle O’Connor and Eric Leen at the back for being still in the game. \nWhen Carlow’s top marksman Marty Kavanagh picked up a second yellow a minute into the second half for a chop on Mikey Boyle\, it appeared as if the Kingdom would cruise to victory. But the intensity and accuracy was not there and they could never shake off a dogged Carlow side. It was the stick of Podge Boyle who kept converting frees that saw Kerry hold a narrow 0-12 to 0-11 lead by the 55th minute. \nBoyle hit three frees in a row and a 65 as Kerry moved 0-15 to 0-12 clear by the 65th minute and then Carlow had Kevin McDonald sent off with a straight red but still Kerry could not secure the win. Points from substitutes Philip Lucid and Niall Mulcahy seemed to have settled Kerry nerves in added time only for Carlow to score a goal from a free by James Doyle and it was a two point game. It was also that it was a Cork team built around dominant performers in positions that were in 2022 perceived to be their vulnerable spots. Ciarán Joyce’s emergence as a force at centre back had been flagged up\, while Declan Downey’s physical presence as a ball-winner was well known\, so his redeployment on the right wing of the attack looked like a safe bet. \nHowever Conor Lehane’s nomination as captain has seen him step up into the leadership role in fine style\, and the real emerging jewel in the Rebel County’s crown appears to be Eoin Downey at full back. Many would have thought that Eoin\, who completed his Leaving Cert in 2022\, was only keeping the number three jersey warm for his brother Rob\, but many more performances like this afternoon’s effort\, and Cork manager Pat Ryan will have some tough calls to make. \nIt’s easy to forget too\, after the final whistle sounds\, that Cork had to dig themselves out of something of a hole early on too. \nGalway’s inside forward line of Martin McManus\, Kevin Cooney and Evan Niland were on fire early on\, and while Dalton set up Lehane for an goal in the tenth minute to undo some early damage\, Cooney responded in kind for the Tribesmen\, and a string of good points saw them move 1-9 to 1-4 ahead by the end of the first quarter. \nA significant number of their scores came from Niland’s frees\, but that spoke volumes about how much space they were able to generate within 40 metres of the Cork goal\, and the number of times their inside forwards found themselves one-on-one with their markers\, chasing excellent deliveries. \nAt the other end\, it was all about Dalton\, as he set up scoring chances – including a goal chance that Shane Barrett hammered into the crossbar – won frees\, and converted plenty of points himself. His controlled bat of the sliotar into Barrett set up Cork’s sixth point in a row to push them into the lead after 26 minutes\, and they were still playing marginally the better hurling at half-time\, with the sides deadlocked at 1-13 each. \nIn the five minutes after the restart\, the contest changed utterly. An uncharacteristic fumble from Cathal Mannion allowed Barrett to steal possession and set up Seán Twomey for a close-range goal\, and an infringement by Oisín Salmon during the move saw the Clarinbridge defender receive a second yellow card. \nOn the next play\, Lehane found the net again\, and three more points in the next five minutes saw a finely-balanced tie suddenly have nine points between the teams. \nThat was how it continued for most of the second half\, with Galway briefly chipping away a couple of points here and there\, but Cork always able to deliver a response. They togged out without all three of their targetmen in captain Conor Sweeney (cruciate)\, vice-captain Steven O’Brien (hamstring)\, and Seán O’Connor after his Sigerson Cup success midweek with UCC. \nTheir more diminutive replacements require different supply lines but most of their points came from distance. They had 10 different scorers but only Jack Kennedy (0-5) scored more than once. \nThere was little urgency and many wides in the early stages. Antrim were the worst offenders on the latter count but they jumped ahead when Stewart claimed the opposition kick-out on the run and he rampaged all the way to blast home. 1-1 to 0-2. \nThe Saffrons added the next three points from Michael Byrne (free)\, Jordan\, and Shivers before Tipp hit back with three fine kicks of their own by Kennedy\, Mikey O’Shea\, and Paudie Feehan. \nTipp’s stand-in captain Shane O’Connell was sin-binned on the half-hour and Antrim could’ve had a second goal as they began to carve Tipp open. \nMichael O’Reilly deflected over an effort from Ruairí McCann (Creggan) before Ruairí McCann (Aghagallon) intercepted an O’Reilly kick-out from which Colm McLarnon was fouled for a penalty. The Creggan McCann stepped up but dragged the penalty wide. \nImpressive wing-back Jordan brought his tally to two points and assisted two more\, with Shivers blasting over when in on goal. 1-8 to 0-6 at the break. \nShivers scored two points within 90 seconds of the restart. Darragh Roche cut the gap back to four points with a fine score from play on the quarter-of-an-hour mark\, but it was all Mayo for the rest of the half. \nO’Donoghue pointed free\, before Carr showed a great step to cut inside his man before firing the ball low under Shane Murphy. That was followed by a run of points from Flynn (2)\, O’Donoghue and a nice effort from Diarmuid O’Connor for Mayo with Tony Brosnan getting one back for Kerry to leave it 2-8 to 0-3 for Mayo at the break. \nJack O’Connor threw David Clifford and Sean O’Shea in right from the off in the second half as he looked to inject something into his side who had been listless for long periods in the first half. \nColm Reape kicked the first score of the second half driving over a 45 from distance\, it didn’t take David Clifford long to make his mark arrowing over the first of three points he would get on his return to inter-county action on 39 minutes. \nMayo eased any nerves of a potential Kerry comeback they might have had thanks to a brace of points on the spin from man-of-the-match Jordan Flynn and James Carr\, who chased down a dropping ball to punch over the bar. \nSean O’Shea hit two on the bounce\, before Clifford got two more for himself but the game was done as a contest by this stage. They’re bottom of Division Four and an eight-point defeat to Sligo at Markievicz Park was a third AFL loss of 2023. \nDespite facing another season in the basement tier and with no guarantee of success in the four games remaining in this already disappointing campaign\, manager Ephie Fitzgerald took positives from the lengthy trip to the north-west. \n“I think the lads gave it their all\,” said Cork man Fitzgerald following the 0-21 to 0-13 reversal\, “Sligo had a lot of kickers\, guys who were able to kick points. \n“You never like to lose but I have to acknowledge that Sligo were better on the day. It is still a learning process\, we had five or six guys making their first start in the National League.”  \nTeam captain Dermot Ryan gave an exhibition of point scoring – he contributed 0-5 from a wing-back position – busy centre-forward Conor Murray chipped in with three points and goalkeeper Paudie Hunt played his part in keeping Sligo goalless. \nBut Waterford\, who were five points down at half-time\, 0-9 to 0-4\, never looked like taking something here although they squeezed the margin down to five points\, 0-17 to 0-12\, with two minutes of normal time left. \nSubstitutes Jason Curry\, John Devine and Donal Fitzgerald each contributed good points but\, overall\, there was nothing created to test Sligo goalkeeper Daniel Lyons\, who didn’t have to make any save. \nSligo – as Fitzgerald admitted afterwards – had too many precise finishers\, chief among them Sean Carrabine\, who notched 0-8. \nThis second win for Sligo puts them back in the promotion hunt behind leaders Laois. \nFitzgerald continued: “Sligo are a good\, strong\, physical side. The most pleasing thing for us was that we kept going. \n“Sligo put a lot of scores on the board but we put 0-13 on the board which isn’t bad going. If you are going to win these matches you need a goal or two. \n“I’m pleased with the performance but there is a lot of work for us to do\, it is an ongoing process.” He added: “Waterford football\, right now\, isn’t in a very good place. It is very difficult to get guys to commit. Instead Mulroy planted two frees to make it a draw game 1-6 to 0-9 at the turn. \nPerfectly poised but Ray Dempsey’s outfit were wayward in the second period as Mulroy and Dáire McConnon opened up a six-point lead. \nWith the scores drying up it took the visitors 20 minutes to find the range. A James Naughton free was the likely source but Limerick substitute Brian Donovan raised a green flag from the resultant kick out. \nThe Munster men were not only back in the game but in a chance of taking all two points. Their first win of the league was one they had to fight tooth and nail for while down to 14 men. In the end they passed a real examination. \nDaniel Flynn came off the bench to kick two points. Replacement Neil Flynn was superb in the second half while Mick O’Grady gave a captain’s performance in defence. On the Irish Examiner football podcast\, former Mayo boss James Horan recently labelled Clare at home the ultimate gut check team. Over 70 minutes they would stress test every aspect of the opposition’s gameplan. That was why he relished challenge games against them. \nHere they played with the breeze in the first half. Kildare dropped off their kick-out and Stephen Ryan was content to tap the majority short and avoid the Kevin axis of Feely-O’Callaghan-Flynn. Only once in the opening 35 minutes did they go long. \nPadraic Collins was wrestling with Ryan Houlihan seconds after the start and when Houlihan was caught tugging the corner-forward again midway through the half the home stand erupted and David Murnane duly flashed a yellow card. \nKildare started with Darragh Kirwan and Jack Robinson inside with Jimmy Hyland floating in front. Eoin Doyle\, one of four late changes before throw-in\, was charged with covering the defence. Twice in the half he sprinted to the sideline for discussions with Glenn Ryan and Anthony Rainbow. \nAfter 20 minutes Alan Sweeney was shown a black card for an off-the-ball incident but otherwise\, Clare were cruising. At the turnaround they led by four with Eoin Cleary’s free-taking a particular highlight. They were well able to vary their attack\, Podge Collins kicking a score with his right while Gavin Cooney stroked over a beauty with the left. \nIn comparison\, much of Kildare’s attacks came down the righthand side. Kevin Feely marked his first competitive start since his Achilles rupture with a well taken give-and-go score but otherwise they were heavily reliant on Hyland’s frees. \nDaniel Flynn came on for Robinson in the second half yet Kildare’s attack continued to falter. Kirwan did well to claim a mark only to drop it short and kicked a wide from the top of the D moments later. Just before the 50-minute mark Flynn finally won a ball out in front and scored on the spin. From the resulting kickout\, a high tackle by Ben McCormack saw Kildare reduced to 14 men. \nFive down with 20 minutes left in Cusack Park\, time to dig deep. Kirwan caught sight of goal and smashed over. Neil Flynn cut the gap to three and then kicked a monster from out wide with five minutes left to guarantee a dramatic conclusion. \nHaving gone nearly 20 minutes without a score\, Clare needed something. Cue Cleary’s left foot. Again the away outfit refused to die. David Hyland scored and the kickout press saw the ball back to Ryan in goals turned over. He fouled and took a black card\, meaning Emmet McMahon had to stand in goals until the final whistle. \nAll of Kildare’s stalwarts came to the fore in the end. O’Grady’s firefighting and turnovers were awesome. Daniel Flynn stood up and summoned an equalizer. Feely broke the resulting kickout. Hurley picked up four points\, with Rory Maguire\, Luke Fahy\, and Seán Powter all locating him with balls kicked over the Dublin defence. \nCork’s three goal chances came via this route too\, Colm O’Callaghan (twice) and Mattie Taylor kicking ball into the inside line. \nFrom the first\, Hurley set up Jones but David O’Hanlon held his ground\, although he picked the ball off the turf to gift Steven Sherlock a tap-over free. \nEoghan McSweeney twice got free with storming off-the-ball runs at the heart of the Dublin defence. Powter couldn’t find him with the first but in the 22nd minute\, Jones turned provider and the Knocknagree attacker side-footed to the roof of the net. Having been level four times\, Cork jumped 1-4 to 0-4 ahead. \nThen\, Jones again was the creator for corner-back Maurice Shanley to palm to the net\, although that goal was chalked off for a marginal square ball call. \nDublin kept their composure in attack. Their 10-point return came entirely from kick-outs worked upfield without letting Cork get pressure on the ball as the Rebels counted the cost of their seven first-half wides. \nThe closest they came to puncturing the Cork inside line was in the opening stages as Con O’Callaghan was fouled by Shanley when bursting into the box. Another marginal decision that the holding ended before entering penalty territory. \nNevertheless\, Lee Gannon teed up Con O’Callaghan and Cormac Costello as Dublin reeled off the last three scores to edge ahead. \nThe game turned on the resumption. Midfielder Ian Maguire found himself isolated on Dean Rock and referee Séamus Mulhare deemed his jersey pull worthy of a second yellow card. \nJohn Cleary sacrificed Sherlock as the Dubs picked Cork off with points from Rock (0-2)\, O’Callaghan\, and Daire Newcombe\, with his second score having started the day at corner-back on Sherlock. \nIt became 14-a-side in the 48th minute\, Gannon receiving his second booking for a shoulder on Powter after the ball was gone. That gave Cork some inspiration\, with Hurley tacking on the next two points to make it a one-score game\, 0-14 to 1-8. \nOnly four minutes after Gannon’s red\, the Rebels had levelled it. Taylor played a one-two with Deane down the flank and the Mallow flyer sent a rocket to the net. \nMcCaffrey’s introduction helped Dublin restore their lead\, with Brian Fenton and McCarthy landing points. \nColm O’Callaghan had a goal-bound effort blocked by Cian Murphy\, while Shanley denied Con O’Callaghan at the other end. The Courcey Rovers forward was not alone\, and was served well by Evan O’Shea and busy midfielders Ronan Crowley and Niall Kelly.  \nThe Valley Rovers influence was clear on this team but there were many contributions\, including a watertight defence\, which didn’t look like conceding a green flag. \nBandon had arrived at the final unbeaten\, and had edged past Charleville CBS in the last four. For Castletroy\, they’d been free-scoring in the early rounds\, and had the narrowest of victories over Highschool Clonmel last month. \nBacked by 12 starters from Monaleen\, Limerick side Castletroy College were chasing first ever Munster glory\, and rescued this game in normal time thanks to a nerveless free from Robert O’Farrell. \nBefore that\, it looked like the Cork side would squeeze by in regulation\, having trailed at half-time. Castletroy made decent use of the wind\, landing 12 first half points\, with O’Farrell joined on the scoresheet by Dara Ferland\, Ben Hayes and David Carr. Their problem was the concession of two superb goals. \nThe first for Bandon arrived after 90 seconds\, Evan O’Shea’s dropping free caused panic with Maguire sharpest to rifled into the net from inside the 13 meter line. The second goal\, on 13 minutes put them 2-1 to 0-4 ahead. A lung-bursting\, defence-splitting run from Kevin Dart-O’Flynn saw him play a one-two with clubmante Eoin Guinane before drilling low to the net. \nBy half-time\, it was 0-12 to 2-5\, with Castletroy landing eight of the final ten points\, including quality strikes from Matthew Fitzgerald and O’Farrell. \nCastletroy couldn’t build on their lead\, with just one point\, an O’Farrell free\, to show for the next 25 minutes of work. In this period\, Bandon cut loose. A brace each from Evan O’Shea and Maguire pushed them clear with O’Shea landing another on 54 minutes to make it 2-11 to 0-13. \nBut there was time for a twist\, Mark Field\, Ferland (free) and O’Farrell put the minimum between them\, before Bandon were off target with a stoppage time. Then in the 64th\, and final minute\, O’Farrell ignored the breeze and landed a superb free from 70 meters. \nExtra-time saw a dip in efficiency\, with Castletroy struggling for scores\, wasting a handful of opportunities in the opening ten minutes. Bandon had two chances\, and scored 1-1. Captain Conor O’Sullivan pointed before Maguire ghosted away from a ruck\, to receive a pass from O’Shea\, to fire to the net. \nNow 3-12 to 0-18 ahead\, Bandon again had a hand on the silverware. Castletroy finished with the final two points\, one from the impressive Fitzgerald and the other from Field. DESCRIPTION:Summerhill College defeated St. Brendan’s Killarney by 2-11 to 1-11 in the Masita All-Ireland Post Primary Schools Hogan Cup Semi-Final on Saturday February 25th at St. Jarlath’s Park\, Tuam. \n\nMatch Coverage \nWatch the game back in full on TG4 YouTube \n \n\nRonan Niland strikes for Summerhill as Sem denied final spot in thriller \nMasita All-Ireland Post-Primary Schools Hogan Cup semi-final  \nSummerhill College\, Sligo 2-11 St Brendan’s College\, Killarney 1-11  \nReport by Kevin Egan for the Irish Examiner newspaper \nAn incredible Hogan Cup semi-final that featured long periods of dominance for each side was eventually crowned by a stunning goal from Summerhill centre forward Ronan Niland\, to deny St Brendan’s of Killarney in their bid to return to the Hogan Cup final for the second year in succession. \nThe Sligo students produced some sumptuous football in the opening half and were full value for their 1-8 to 1-3 interval lead\, which gave them the cushion to withstand relentless waves of attacks from ‘The Sem’ in the second half. \nThe potency of the Killarney school’s inside forward line was on full view in the early stages when Alex Hennigan rolled in a goal through heavy traffic while Luke Crowley kicked an excellent point to make it 1-1 to a single point\, but Summerhill also had plenty of quality in defence\, and gradually players like Ronan O’Hehir\, Rian O’Callaghan and James Donlon began to exert themselves. \nDillon Walsh kicked two wonderful scores on the run for the Sligo side and Shea O’Neill was prominent close to goal\, kicking two excellent marks either side of a score from play for Summerhill. \nA huge block from St Brendan’s captain Cian Lynch prevented the Sem from falling behind to a goal\, but Summerhill kept up the pressure to move in front\, and then really give themselves a shot in the arm through a Gavin Lynch penalty just before half-time. \nCrowley and Niland traded points immediately after the break but from then on\, St. Brendan’s took complete control\, lording proceedings for over 20 minutes. DESCRIPTION:Kerry defeated Armagh by 0-12 to 0-11 in Round 4 of the Allianz Football League Division 1 on Saturday February 25th at Austin Stack Park Tralee. \n\nMatch Highlights \n\nWatch the Full-Time Highlights of Kerry v Armagh in the Allianz Football League here on #GAANOW pic.twitter.com/3ma6UYWQLK \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) February 25\, 2023 \n  \n\n\nREPORT: @Kerry_Official earned an important #AllianzLeagues win over @Armagh_GAA at Austin Stack Park #GAA \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) February 25\, 2023 \n  \nAllianz FL D1: Kerry edge out Armagh \nKerry 0-12 Armagh 0-11 \nReport By Paul Brennan at Austin Stack Park for GAA.ie \nA resurgent Kerry team got their League title defence back on track with a hard-fought one-point win over Armagh in Tralee this evening\, with the manner of the team’s response to last week’s mauling by Mayo as pleasing to manager Jack O’Connor as much as the two points secured. \nO’Connor said the lack of energy and work-rate and tackling against Mayo a week earlier was unacceptable\, but acknowledged the players brought all those qualities to bear on this arm-wrestle with Armagh\, which was won by late scores from substitutes Tony Brosnan and Donal O’Sullivan. \nThose scores had Armagh trailing by two points well beyond the signalled five minutes of additional time\, but they still manufactured a late free with nothing less than a goal needed\, though Rian O’Neill could only see his 20-metre free rise over the crossbar to half the deficit\, much to Kerry’s relief. \nIt was a determined Kerry team that took to the field\, bringing all the energy and intensity that they were missing against Mayo the previous Saturday\, but they met an Armagh side that matched those qualities every bit and took the home side to the wire in front of a 11\,603 crowd. \nThe teams were deadlocked at 0-6 apiece at the end of a cagey first half\, with the visitors surely the happier side having sat back for much of the opening period\, content to invite Kerry to try and pick their way through a massed defence. \nThat Kerry managed just four points from play\, two more free close-range frees\, and just one wide\, said as much about Armagh’s disciplined and structured defending as it did about Kerry’s cutting edge in attack. \nThose two Kerry frees were converted by David Clifford and Sean O’Shea\, though it was some source of frustration that neither man – both making their first start of the season – could raise a flag from play\, though Clifford still finished Kerry’s top scorer with four pointed frees on a night Kerry had nine scorers\, including two late points from substitutes Tony Brosnan and Donal O’Sullivan that secured the win. \nKerry were first off the mark with a Clifford free in the fifth minute and they were 0-4 to 0-2 ahead after 15 minutes\, with Armagh seemingly happy to choke up the Kerry forwards with that packed defence and then look to hit the home side on the counter-attack. \nPoints from Rian O’Neill (play and a free) and full back Aidan Forker brought Armagh level on the scoreboard at 0-5 apiece just after the half hour mark\, with Barry O’Sullivan and Stefan Campbell adding a point each for their teams to make it 0-6 each at the break. \nEarly second half points from Greg McCabe and half time sub Conor Turbitt edged Armagh into a two-point lead\, and it took until the 48th minute until Kerry were back on terms. \nThe teams were still level\, 0-10 each\, on the 70-minute mark – and both teams might have settled for a league point each at that stage – but Brosnan fired over the lead point for Kerry from near the sideline\, and then Donal O’Sullivan fisted over Kerry’s 12th score four minutes later. \nThere was still time for that late Armagh chance\, but O’Neill couldn’t keep his shot low enough to test a packed Kerry goal line\, with Kerry leap-frogging the Orchard county on the Division One table\, moving to four points and rekindling their chance of a successful title defence. \nScorers for Kerry: D Clifford 0-4 (4f)\, T Morley 0-1\, P Murphy 0-1\, B O’Sullivan 0-1\, S O’Shea 0-1 (f)\, P Clifford 0-1 (f)\, D Roche 0-1\, T Brosnan 0-1\, D O’Sullivan 0-1 \nScorers for Armagh: R O’Neill 0-4 (3f)\, J Og Burns 0-2\, E Rafferty 0-1 (f)\, A Forker 0-1\, G McCabe 0-1\, S Campbell 0-1\, C Turbitt 0-1 \nKerry: Shane Ryan\, Graham O’Sullivan\, Jason Foley\, Tom O’Sullivan\, Stefan Okunbor\, Tadhg Morley\, Paul Murphy\, Jack Barry\, Barry O’Sullivan\, Dara Moynihan\, Seán O’Shea\, Adrian Spillane\, Paudie Clifford\, David Clifford\, Darragh Roche.\nSubs: Micheál Burns for A Spillane (47)\, Tony Brosnan for D Roche (50)\, Ruairi Murphy for P Clifford (63)\, Dónal O’Sullivan for D Moynihan (69). \nArmagh: Ethan Rafferty\, Paddy Burns\, Aidan Forker\, Greg McCabe\, Conor O’Neill\, Aaron McKay\, Jarly Óg Burns;
