The north Cork men went on to outscore Grangemockler-Ballyneale three points to one thereafter. \nMention too for a sterling defensive display which only saw two points from play scored by Grangemockler-Ballyneale over the hour. \nDefending champions Ballygiblin had the breeze in the first-half\, but it was Grangemockler-Ballyneale who got the scoreboard moving with their chief-scorer Darragh Shelley firing over a ’65 in the third minute. \nBallygiblin free-taker Joseph O’Sullivan levelled a couple of minutes later. \nThe Tipperary representatives – although beaten in their county final by Upperchurch/Drombane — were up for the challenge as midfielder Shelley arrowed over the next two points from placed balls. \nBallygiblin\, with Mark Keane dominant as sweeper at centre-back and Darragh Flynn playing a roving role\, landed four points unanswered between the 13th and 22nd minute – Joseph O’Sullivan (free)\, Sean O’Sullivan\, Dean Barry and Darragh Flynn to lead 0-5 to 0-3. \nIndeed\, both Sean O’Sullivan and Barry scores could have been goals after O’Sullivan’s shot took a deflection over the bar and Cathail O’Mahony had a shot off the post before Barry gathered the breaking ball for his point. \nGrangemockler-Ballyneale finished the half confidently with four points on the trot from Shelley (frees)\, John Lyons and Conor Hahessy to lead at the interval\, 0-7 to 0-5. \nOn the restart\, Cathail O’Mahony netted in the 34th minute. Kilgarvan settled though through frees from Cian O’Connell in the main as they were right back in the contest at half-time.  \nKerry senior football panelist Donal O’Sullivan was playing his first game of competitive hurling this year and he was involved in their goal before the break. \nHe played a pass across to centre-forward Richard O’Sullivan who finished well to the net making it 2-7 to 1-8 at half-time to Banner.  \nO’Sullivan and Ronan Foley opened the second half with points to level the game but Banner didn’t panic in going back into the lead. Defender Oisin McMahon caused a lot of trouble for Kilgarvan when moved further up the pitch to the forwards in the second half. \nShane Meehan put Banner four ahead at 2-12 to 1-11 after 49 minutes but Kilgarvan rallied once more. Gearóid Fennessy put over an impressive sideline ball for their fourth consecutive score to level the match again (2-12 to 1-15) with five minutes of normal time left. Meehan responded for Banner though and their midfielder Tomas Meenaghan showed good initiative to keep a wayward sideline ball in and get a score for himself. \nMeehan finished his scoring with an impressive effort from play under pressure near the sideline to give them a three-point advantage once more. Kevin Mahony blasted 2-2\, Patrick Fitzgerald\, in his first year out of minor\, picked off 1-4\, and Dessie Hutchinson did all his scoring early for a 0-3 tally. \nTheir subs\, too\, had an impact. All-Ireland-winning goalscorer Harry Ruddle\, who has played for their intermediate team all year\, got a goal\, Club Hurling Team of the Year member Billy O’Keeffe 0-2\, and Jake Foley added a point. They struck four points in a row to open up a 6-2 lead\, with Hutchinson finding space to land the first three of those\, while Cian Darcy supplied Kilruane’s brace. \nThere were goal chances at either end. Philip Mahony’s hook denied Willie Cleary a shot on goal\, while Páidí Williams’ superb diving save stopped Kevin Mahony from netting. That kept Kilruane in it\, only three points down\, but Ballygunner scored the next three anyway – Pauric Mahony scoring two\, the latter from an intercepted puck-out making it 0-10 to 0-4. \nKilruane fought on with inspirational points from Jerome Cahill – turning over the ball and twisting and twirling away from defenders to score – and Eoin Hogan\, again winning his own ball and running forward to score. \nThey’d have happily taken that four-point deficit into the half but on the stroke of half-time\, Ballygunner forced their own turnover and with a 3-on-2 they are so clinicial. That meant Thurles CBS were always playing catch up\, but they rallied superbly to set up an absorbing finish.  \nHaving played against the wind in the first half\, the Tipperary school deployed a sweeper to try and contain the Ardscoil Rís forward division\, with the sides sharing four points in the opening seven minutes with Ryne Bargary providing the points for Thurles\, while Kearney and Michael Collins got on the scoresheet for Ard Scoil. \nThe first goal came in the eighth minute when Begley produced a beautiful flick under a contested ball to run in on goal and finish. Thurles kept their composure and reeled off the next four points to level things\, 1-3 to 0-6\, after 15 minutes. \nBut the Limerick school took control with two Darragh Gleeson frees preceding Begley’s brilliant second goal in the 21st minute. Fine scores from Cillian Murphy\, Marc O’Brien and a booming Jack Cosgrove point gave them a 2-10 to 0-10 advantage at the break. \nThurles wouldn’t have panicked such was the influence of the wind\, but they were dealt a sucker-punch after two minutes when Patrick Kearney won a breaking ball inside the 21 to roam in on goal and finish superbly. \nDespite the nine point gap\, the Tipp school showed great mettle and made a game of it\, with David Costigan’s fortuitous goal in the 45th minute giving them a real shot in the arm. His tame effort after a long solo run somehow squirming under the hurley of Darragh Jordan in the Ardscoil nets. \nThurles suddenly began to dominate all sectors as points flowed from Euan Murray\, Robbie Ryan\, Keith Loughnane and Cormac Fitzpatrick. By the time substitute Ronan O’Brien struck in the 59th minute\, it was just a one-point game with the momentum going the way of the Tipp school. \nBut credit to Ardscoil\, who managed to withstand the wave to grind out a pair of priceless frees\, dispatched expertly by Darragh Gleeson and Eoin Carey. DESCRIPTION:Munster reigned supreme in Castlebar on Saturday 12th November and led the way by claiming four All-Ireland Scór Sinsir titles.  \nMóinalín sampled success for Limerick by reclaiming the Tráth na gCeist crown they last won in 2017 following a heated competition. The ‘Treaty’ club overcame Corr na Féinne from Cavan in a series of ‘sudden death’ tie breaker questions that had the audience on the edge of their seats. They now are the leading club in the Scór Sinsir Tráth na gCeist roll of honour. \nIn the Rince Foirne competition\, Tipperary’s An Caisleán Nua completed a hat-trick of Scór Sinsir All Ireland titles with their performance of the ‘Cross Reel’. Incidentally\, the ‘Premier’ club completed a famous ‘double’ for the second year in row where they are proud holders of All Ireland Rince Foirne titles in Scór na nÓg and Scór Sinsir. \nGníomh go Leith won what would be their first All-Ireland of the night when Marc Ó Laoire took the Amhránaíocht Aonair crown following his beautiful rendition of Gary McMahon’s ‘The Hills Around Listowel’.  \nThe Kingdom’s Gníomh go Leith danced their way to glory in the Rince Seit following their performance of the ‘Caledonian Set’ and brought home a historic double to the East Kerry based club. This is the first Rince Seit title for Munster since 2014 when Kilcummin came out on top.   \nThe accolades did not stop there for Kerry as Spa GAA’s Ann Mangan was recipient of the Munster Long Service Award. Ann has been an instrumental figure in Scór at all levels through her participation\, mentoring\, adjudicating\, administrating and consistent dedication to our wonderful cultural competition. Ann has been to the forefront when her club has been victorious at all levels from East Kerry all the ways to the National stage in multiple different disciplines. Spa have the unique and special record in the roll of honour where the club won a historic five All Ireland titles in a row in the Scór Sinsir Rince Seit competition and it is no wonder with Ann’s expertise always on hand to guide them on their way. There was absolutely nothing in this game and a five-point winning margin does not reflect the closeness of this battle. Liscannor led until an equalising point from man of the match Paddy Creedon in the 54th minute before Liam McCormack put the Tipperary club into the lead for the first time seconds later. \nThe Clare champions started the better of the two with Brian Considine opening the scoring inside a minute with a sensational point off his left peg from just outside the 45. Two Alan Clohessy points followed including a converted monster free off the outside of the boot\, curling the ball beautifully over. At this juncture Liscannor led 0-3 to no score before three points in three minutes from Creedon\, an Aidan Ryan mark and a peach from the impressive Liam McCormack had the sides level at the end of the first quarter. \nThe second quarter was a stop-start affair with a lot of frees conceded around the middle third. Liscannor would win this period two points to one and headed to the dressing rooms at the interval leading 0-5 to 0-4. \nAt the start of the second half the sides traded scores with another Creedon beauty levelling the contest at six apiece by the end of the third quarter. Moments later the stands erupted when Liscannor wing back Padraig Haugh broke through the last line of defence and a goal looked the likeliest outcome but Haugh’s effort blazed over. \nFatigue began to set in for the Clare side with the Tipperary champions now completely dominating possession but finding scores hard to come by until that late match-winning 1-3 without reply. The goal was harsh on Liscannor as trailing by two points deep into injury time they had pushed everybody up the field. Flanagan kicked his first of the day on the 10-minute mark with the hosts trailing by 1-4 to 0-2. \nFour on the trot\, three from Roche\, had Castlemahon within two before Hynes extended the Waterford advantage. \nTwo frees from Flanagan had it 1-8 to 0-8 at the interval. \nShamrocks had the perfect start to the second half with Crawford pointing from the throw in. \nCastlemahon roared into life thereafter\, kicking 1-4 inside seven minutes; Flanagan\, Roche and John Francis Reidy all finding the target. \nBy the time Shamrocks broke their duck\, Castlemahon were 1-14 to 1-10 ahead and seemingly cruising. They were that bit more slick\, but credit to a gallant Aghabullogue who fought tooth and nail to get back into the contest\, but they could never get their noses in front. \nThat said\, Clanmaurice\, who won the last five provincial junior titles\, were the stronger side overall. \nAfrterwards\, Clanmaurice’s Laura Collins\, pictured\, was celebrating with her gorgeous 12-week-old baby boy Ruadh. \nWith just 20 players on their panel\, Collins\, who owns an equestrian centre in Lixnaw\, donned the number 11 jersey and played the full 60 minutes plus. \n“I came back training about five weeks after he was born\,” she said. “My first game was when he was seven weeks old. \n“I was working up to the day he was born\, I kept going to the very end. That fitness alone helped me. \n“My work involves teaching the kids mostly\, working all day long. You are constantly on the go. From six o’clock in the morning you are on the move bringing ponies in and out. When the kids are learning\, you are running beside them.” \nThe wind blowing down the field favoured Aghabullogue in the first-half\, but it was Clanmaurice who enjoyed the better start. A long delivery from captain Jackie Horgan fell to Danielle O’Leary whose goalward shot was finished over the line by O’Sullivan in the first minute. \nO’Sullivan struck again three minutes later to give her side an early advantage. \nAoife Barrett slotted over Aghabullogue’s opening point in the seventh minute. Cliona Healy kept the scoreboard moving for the Cork team – her three placed balls reducing the gap to three points after 20 minutes\, 2-1 to 0-4. \nThe next three scores went the way of Clanmaurice with midfielder Patrice Diggin sending over a booming free from inside her own half to stretch their lead to two clear goals with five minutes remaining. \nA point from Ciara McCarthy brought her side to within five. \nJust before the interval\, referee Fintan McNamara after consultation with his umpires\, awarded a penalty to Clanmaurice. DESCRIPTION:Clonmel Commercials (Tipperary) defeated Nemo Rangers (Cork) by 2-15 to 1-11 in the AIB Munster Club Senior Football Championship Quarter-Final on Saturday November 12th at Páirc Uí Chaoimh. \n\nClinical Clonmel Commercials dominate Nemo to march on in Munster \nClonmel Commercials (Tipperary) 2-15 Nemo Rangers (Cork) 1-11 \nReport by Eoghan Cormican for the Irish Examiner newspaper \nWe can’t call this an upset because Clonmel have been here before. \nOne obvious distinction does need to be made\, however\, between this latest Clonmel championship win over Nemo and their maiden victory over the Cork outfit seven years ago. \nWhere the 2015 Munster final was smash and grab\, courtesy of a late Michael Quinlivan goal\, Clonmel dominated Nemo from pillar to post in this Munster quarter-final. \nAhead by 2-4 to 0-6 at the break\, the Tipperary winners held Nemo to one point from play from the restart to the fifth minute of second half stoppages when Mark Cronin fired in a consolation goal for the Cork champions. \nPrior to Cronin’s goal\, the gap stood at 10 points (2-15 to 0-11). It was a fully merited double-digit advantage. \nAs they had done throughout the first half\, Tommy Morrissey’s Clonmel charges overran and outsmarted their hosts. Their running game was direct and purposeful. At the end of these breakaway moves were Jason Lonergan and Sean O’Connor. The two men terrorised the Nemo defence. The two men contributed 1-10 between them. \nNemo had the gap back to two early in the second period when half-time sub Luke Horgan had a goal effort that would have shoved them in front for the first time since the second minute. \nThe goal effort was saved. Over the next 25 minutes\, Nemo were outscored by 0-11 to 0-3. \nThe Clonmel white flags flowed from all angles and distances. Colman Kennedy swung over one peach with the left. Jason Lonergan had one with the inside of the boot. Whatever way they did it\, they couldn’t miss. \nThe significance of the result is summed up in the stat showing this defeat to be only Nemo’s fifth in provincial action in this their 22nd Munster campaign. It has proven to be one of their shortest Munster campaigns. \nClonmel had two goals and led by four at the break. But for Micheál Aodh Martin’s reflexes and a touch more Clonmel decisiveness at the crucial moment\, the Tipperary champions’ interval goal count and lead would have been much greater. \nWe had just noted in the copybook that Clonmel’s first four attacks yielded only one point when Conall Kennedy\, Colman Kennedy\, and Jack O’Connor combined for a seventh minute goal during Clonmel attack number five. \nIn the absence of the middle-third aggression that defined Nemo’s Cork county final win\, Clonmel repeatedly galloped through the centre of the Nemo defence. What the Barrs couldn’t and weren’t allowed to do\, Clonmel made look easy. They made Nemo’s defence look very easy to beat. Briain Murphy’s injury-enforced absence was sorely felt by the off-the-pace Cork champions. \nAdded to the seventh-minute goal that put them 1-1 to 0-1 ahead\, there were three further first half goal opportunities. \nOpportunity number two fell to Jason Lonergan. His shot was blocked. The opportunity would have been better falling to Sean O’Connor\, who was better placed than Lonergan. A converted Lonergan free a minute later extended their advantage out to five. \nLuke Connolly\, who had an earlier goal effort kept out by Michael O’Reilly\, replied with a pair of frees. \nThen arrived Clonmel goal opportunity number four. Another Martin save\, the Nemo goalkeeper deflecting over half-back Padraic Looram’s drive. \nClonmel didn’t add to their goal account in the second period. They didn’t need to. DESCRIPTION:Drom and Inch (Tipperary) defeated Scariff Ogonnelloe (Clare) by 0-14 to 0-8 in the Munster Senior Camogie Championship Final on Sunday November 13th at Mallow. \n\nEye-catching cameo from super sub O’Dwyer helps drive Drom-Inch to Munster crown \nDrom-Inch (Tipperary) 0-14 Scariff Ogonnelloe (Clare) 0-8  \nReport by Therese O’Callaghan for the Irish Examiner newspaper \nAnother great battle between these two excellent teams eventually went the way of Drom-Inch\, as they regained the AIB Munster club senior camogie championship title at Mallow today. \nThese sides are no strangers to each other\, and it was no surprise to see them tied on six occasions\, before the Tipperary titleholders pushed on in the fourth quarter\, powering their way to a six-point victory. \nSo many players stepped up in those closing stages for Pat Ryan’s charges\, but none more so than substitute Katie O’Dwyer who impacted brilliantly – still a minor – she rifled over three brilliant points from play in the final 10 minutes to stretch the lead to five. \nWhen Eimear McGrath – from another great Tipperary sporting family – tapped over a penalty after a foul on Miriam Campion\, they were home and hosed. \nAs defending champions\, Scariff Ogonnelloe contributed enormously\, but once Drom-Inch got to grips with the situation\, they wouldn’t be outdone. \nDefensively the winners were heroic\, they kept Scariff scoreless for the final 20 minutes\, and up front Eimear McGrath (0-7) and Niamh Treacy (0-3) were candidates for player of the match\, which was awarded to Treacy. \nThe excellent Treacy\, who roamed out the field\, gave her side an early lead after a surging run through the centre. It didn’t take long for free-taker Mairéad Scanlon to reply with Scariff Ogonnelloe’s first point following a foul on Labhaoise O’Donnell. \nWith Treacy leading the way\, Drom-Inch edged ahead\, and when Eimear McGrath found the range from a free\, the Tipperary champions were 0-3 to 0-1 in front. \nThey were winning the physical stakes\, but they weren’t getting the rewards on the scoreboard. Scanlon’s second placed ball in the ninth minute made sure the Clare side stayed in touch. \nGrowing in confidence\, and with the breeze at their backs\, Scariff Ogonnelloe had an opportunity to raise a green flag on the quarter hour mark\, but after a great run by Aoife Power\, Drom goalkeeper Caoimhe Bourke stood her ground. \nPower made amends though\, slotting over to put her side into the ascendancy for the first time\, 0-4 to 0-3 in the 21st minute There was a real competitive edge to this decider now\, and a great strike from Eimear McGrath levelled matters for the third time. \nAgain\, Eimear McGrath was called upon following a foul on Treacy\, her third point of the half leaving Drom-Inch one up. \nHowever\, and not to be outdone\, Scanlon ensured the teams would go to the dressing-room on parity\, 0-5 apiece. \nThirty-six seconds into the second-half\, Treacy found the target once more after a tremendous surge down the middle. Eimear McGrath followed\, for her side to go two up. \nBoth teams came out of the traps quickly\, Power showing unbelievable composure to arrow over two points – her second was a delightful finish. \nWith just five minutes gone\, it was 0-7 apiece after a hectic restart. \nIt was 0-8 each on 40 minutes\, both sides soaking huge amounts of pressure. \nAnne Eviston and Eimear McGrath points swung the momentum the Drom way\, 0-10 to 0-8. \nThe game was still in the melting pot. It needed something special. DESCRIPTION:Ballyea (Clare) defeated St. Finbarr’s (Cork) by 1-12 to 0-14 in the AIB Munster Club Senior Hurling Championship Semi-Final on Sunday November 20th at Cusack Park Ennis. \n\n\nREPORT: @ballyea_club defeated @the_Barrs in the @AIB_GAA @MunsterGAA Club SHC #GAA \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) November 20\, 2022 \n  \nAIB Munster Club SHC: Ballyea advance to final \nBallyea 1-12 St Finbarr’s 0-14 \nReport By Eoin Brennan at Cusack Park for GAA.ie \nIt took all of Ballyea’s recent Munster experience to finally shake off 14 man St Finbarr’s in what was a tense seesaw semi-final showdown. \nHaving soared to historic provincial success in their breakthrough year of 2016\, this may have been Ballyea’s first Munster victory since\, despite being their third attempt\, but crucially they remained composed in a frantic finish to prevail by the minimum. \nIn front of a 1\,891 crowd\, there was never more than two points between the sides at any stage but there were defining moments\, no more so that in the first quarter when the wind-assisted Barrs suffered a double whammy in the space of a minute. \nFirst former Clare senior football captain Gary Brennan was permitted to drive through the heart of their defence to score the only goal of the hour in the eighth minute at 1-1 to 0-2 before key player Conor Cahalane was red-carded in the next passage of play following an off-the-ball altercation with marker Jack Browne. \nSuch a double hammerblow would have detrimental to most sides but the Barrs\, mainly through the outstanding marksmanship of Ben Cunningham\, kept on Ballyea’s coat-tails throughout.  \nThe home side did manage to keep their noses in front\, helped by a brace of Mossy Gavin points\, to edge 1-5 to 0-7 in front by the break. However\, despite welcoming the conditions for the new half\, the back-to-back Clare champions were finally reeled in by the two-thirds mark. \nInevitably it was 19 year old Ben Cunningham\, son of manager Ger\, that led the backlash as his three point unanswered rally handed the Cork champions the lead for the first time in 35 minutes at 0-10 to 1-6. \nThat alteration in narrative sparked Clare’s four-time All-Star Tony Kelly into life with two superb strikes from the left wing in what would subsequently become a blow-for-blow duel with Cunningham. It got better for the north Cork side when Flynn\, at his second attempt\, fired to the Colligan net. \nThe Waterford champions produced a response. Trailing by four at the interval\, the firmly clicked into gear in the second period to book their spot in next month’s Munster final. \nBallyea of Clare will provide the opposition on December 3\, at a venue to be confirmed. \nLimiting Na Piarsaigh to just four second half points\, the contribution of Pauric Mahony who ended with 13 points\, was a telling statistic. \nThe Limerick champions were out of the traps the stronger and fired over the first three points\, including a Will Henn effort. Patrick Fitzgerald got the Gunners off the mark on eight and this game began to seesaw approaching the second quarter. \nThe first half was of the highest standard\, with the shooting\, stick passing and overall play making this a really easy watch and played on a superb new surface in Limerick\, before 3\,321 paying spectators. \nDessie Hutchinson buried to the net on 15 minutes\, this making it a one point game – 0-6 to 1-2 – receiving a pass from Fitzgerald to leave Evan Condon with no chance. \nThe sides were soon level\, with Conor Sheehan landing the first of two first half points. But Na Piarsiagh were able to stem the flow. \nKeith Dempsey abandoned his midfield berth to received a defence splitting pass from William O’Donoghue\, and he drilled low to the corner to put Na Piarsaigh back in front. \nTheir second goal\, which arrived six minutes later was a wonderful passing move\, with Conor Boylan powering home after the Dempsey brothers combined and fed the inter-county player. \nThe half time score was 2-11 to 1-9 with Ballygunner hitting six wides\, compare to two from the Limerick side. \nBallygunner clearly stifled the 2016 All-Ireland winners in the second period and implemented their own game plan much better. \nThe second half was a domination from Darragh O’Sullivan’s side\, Patrick Fitzgerald’s 40th minute goal hauled them to within one\, and Mahony levelled this game with a free. The Kerry champions recorded an impressive 1-17 to 2-6 victory on Saturday\, at one stage in the second-half\, leading by 16 points. \n“The danger with Kanturk was their physicality. We were very worried about that. It was like winning the lotto when I heard we were coming up to Páirc Uí Chaoimh because I reckon if they got us into Mallow with a heavier surface\, we could have been in trouble. The venue was great\, to be quite honest. \n“Most games\, we play with an extra man back. We felt today we would go man-to-man and target their midfield area which is very strong all year. We saw most of their games and videos. I thought our two midfielders\, the Ryan brothers Mark (captain) and Cathal were a huge call for us and they performed. \n“The goal from John Moynihan set us up. He looks ordinary but once he gets the ball in hand\, he is like a bit of a snake. He is always up for a goal or two\, no doubt.”  \nIn fact\, the manager has a team full of leaders. Another Ryan brother Shane rowed in with six points. Shane\, along with Paul Murphy are All-Ireland senior medallists this year. Murphy\, though\, is set to miss the Munster final against either Na Piarsaigh or Ballina Sunday fortnight. \n“Shane is okay\, he is staying around. He has a house to build. He is foregoing the first week of the (Kerry team) holiday. Paul is going on a long-due honeymoon for four weeks\, he got married last year. He will be a big loss\, but we have a panel. Hopefully\, we will get someone to fill his boots.”  \nIt was a disappointing day for Kanturk who impressed in their Cork PIFC final win over Bantry Blues after they had lost the two previous deciders. A two goal burst in the 43rd and 49th minute today put a better complexion on the scoreboard. \nKerry’s dominance in this competition speaks for itself. The number of titles won is Kerry (14) Cork (4). \n“Kanturk were bound to hit a purple patch. I trained a lot of teams in Duhallow and I followed Duhallow football as a young fellow. I actually played U12 football with Knocknagree. I am a fan of Duhallow football and if we didn’t get through today\, I would have loved to see Kanturk go through. \n“I socialise in Knocknagree. All my friends and neighbours are always saying – it is kind of wrong to St Michael’s (SAFC winners) technically. I think Cork are doing something about it\, they are rising the grades. When they look at that\, I think they will have more success.” \nRathmore ahead 1-10 to 0-2 at the break. They began the second-half in determined fashion. There was a superb block by James O’Sullivan in front of his own goal\, and then a scoring opportunity for John Moynihan that came back off the post. Moynihan then had the ball in the net\, but referee Derek O’Mahoney had called for a free – which Spiers converted. The next four points went the way of Rathmore\, 1-15 to 0-2. \nGrantus Bucinskas pulled a goal back for Kanturk and when Ian Walsh found the net followed by an Aidan Walsh point\, they trailed by eight points with Rathmore temporarily reduced to 14 men after Fionn Holohan was black-carded in the 44th minute. \nAs the game petered out\, there was never any danger of Rathmore losing this one. DESCRIPTION:Fossa (Kerry) defeated Castlemahon (Limerick) by 1-22 to 0-5 in the AIB Munster GAA Football Junior Club Championship Semi-Final on Saturday November 26th at Quaid Park\, Coolyroe. \n\nO’Shea brothers show that Fossa are not all about the Cliffords \nReport by Mortimer Murphy for the Irish Examiner newspaper \nMunster Club JFC: Fossa (Kerry) 1-22 Castlemahon-Feoghanagh (Limerick) 0-5 \nBEFOREHAND\, the Munster Council had the unusual task of alerting would-be travellers not to bother – the Munster Club JAFC semi-final at Coolyroe was already a 1\,500 sellout. Doubtless\, the work of one D. Clifford. \nAs it transpired\, they did that cohort a favour as Kerry champions Fossa made light work of Castlemahon at Quaid Park\, Coolyroe on Saturday. \nAhead of the semi\, the talk was how would Castlemahon curb the threat of footballer of the year David Clifford but in their efforts to counter the Cliffords\, they ignored the O’Shea brothers\, Emmet and Tadgh\, and they outshone their colleagues scoring 1-10 between them and all from play. \nIt was as one-sided a contest as is imaginable as Fossa took full advantage of the first half elements to their backs. Castlemahon took the lead in the fourth minute from an Alan Roche free but that was their last score until the 49th minute when substitute Mike Fitzgibbon\, who returned from Dubai from the game\, kicked a point from play. But at that stage\, David Clifford was already on the sideline having been given a rare breather this year as a rescue act was not required. \nFossa dominated around the middle thanks to Paudie Clifford\, Matt Rennie\, Cian O’Shea\, and Paddy Sheehan\, and Castlemahon could never muster any threat. The hosts were also guilty of turning over the ball with regularity against a rampant Fossa side. \nDavid Clifford had two wides before Fossa cut loose in the fifth minute with a point from man-of-the-match Emmet O’Shea\, quickly followed by a brace his brother Tadgh. While Emmett was back in the 10th minute to score another point from a David Clifford assist. Clifford eventually got on the score sheet in the 12th minute when he converted a free.  \nA succession of points followed by Emmet O’Shea\, David and Paudie Clifford\, and Matt Rennie as Fossa moved 0-10 to 0-1 in front after 20 minutes. A black card for Mike Fitzgibbon in the 24th minute didn’t help the home side and seconds later David Clifford sent Emmet O’Shea through who blasted the ball to the Castlemahon net. It was 1-11 to 0-1 at half time. \nThe second half was academic. Fossa continued to dominate in the third quarter\, adding another seven points with a brace each from Paudie and David Clifford\, while Emmet O’Shea and Matt Rennie also added points as Fossa emptied their bench. Castlemahon tried until the very end and Alan Roche kicked three points\, while Mike Fitzgibbon got the other. These sides served up a scrappy and tense affair\, with neither ever able to pull clear. \nPerhaps appropriately\, the sides were deadlocked at half-time\, full-time and at the end of extra-time. Even when Ballina did lead at the midway point of the extra period\, they didn’t look to have the conviction to seal their spot in next month’s decider. \nEoghan Power got the Tipperary men off the mark in the first minute but Na Piarsaigh found the game’s only goal through Dylan Cronin on five minutes. The captain followed in following a good save from Jack Brady. \nPower and inter-county man\, Steven O’Brien were on target in a disappointing first half\, during which the Tipperary side kicked six wides. \nO’Brien was denied from the penalty spot by Sherlock on 32 minutes\, and the same result would come in the shootout. \nJack O’Mahoney forced this game into the extra period entering stoppage time and Ballina looked to pull clear with David Kelly and O’Brien (free) putting them two clear with 77 played.
