DESCRIPTION:Clonmel Commercials defeated Upperchurch-Drombane by 1-10 to 1-2 in the Tipperary Senior Football Championship Final on Sunday October 16th at FBD Semple Stadium Thurles. \n\n\nREPORT: @CommercialsGAA enjoyed an impressive win over @churchdrombane in the @TipperaryGAA SFC Final \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) October 16\, 2022 \n  \nEarly Clonmel flourish demolishes Church dreams \nTipperary SFC final: Clonmel Commercials 1-10 Upperchurch-Drombane 1-2  \nReport by Stephen Barry for the Irish Examiner newspaper \nClonmel Commercials only needed to produce anything near their best for 12 minutes of this final to win their 20th Tipperary senior football title\, and third in four years\, against first-time finalists Upperchurch-Drombane. \nA first-half demolition job saw them go in 1-8 to 0-1 ahead and Michael O’Reilly’s 38th-minute penalty save from Paul Shanahan gave them sufficient insulation to comfortably survive a lethargic second-half showing. \nConor Fahey’s 56th-minute consolation goal drew the loudest cheer of the day but Upperchurch’s pressure wasn’t backed up with a sufficient scoring threat. \nCommercials ended with 13 men\, Ross Peters sent off for a second yellow card in the 52nd minute and Peter McGarry black-carded in stoppage time\, but it mattered little as they move within one title of record winners Fethard on the Tipperary roll of honour. \nThe 2015 Munster champions will now turn their attention toward a meeting with either Nemo Rangers or St Finbarr’s in a provincial quarter-final next month. \nAn unsettled start for both sides saw the game go 13 minutes without a score. Upperchurch missed their first four shots\, including three placed balls\, while Commercials missed their first three. \nBut once Commercials got going\, there was no stopping them. Pádraic Looram’s goal\, in the 14th minute\, kick-started a scoring streak of 1-8 in 12 minutes\, in which time Upperchurch couldn’t register so much as a shot\, never mind a score. \nMan-of-the-match Jack Kennedy kicked three points (two frees) and directed much of the play\, Looram won three kick-outs and assisted two points from wing-back\, and Seán O’Connor added another two points as they overwhelmed Upperchurch. \nThe underdogs finally raised a white flag in the 28th minute\, Paul Shanahan converting a free to a loud cheer from the Church contingent. 1-8 to 0-1 at half-time. \nUpperchurch\, seven days on from their hurling semi-final defeat\, came out with a renewed intent to press Commercials high up the field. Luke Shanahan kicked an acute free and from the restart\, he turned over a short kick-out and was fouled for a penalty. Paul Shanahan sent it down the middle but O’Reilly stretched out his trailing leg to kick it to safety. \nCommercials only scored twice from frees in the second half\, from Kennedy and Michael Quinlivan frees in the 44th and 61st minutes. DESCRIPTION:St. Finbarrs defeated Blackrock by 2-14 to 1-7 in the Cork Senior Hurling Championship Final on Sunday October 16th at Páirc Uí Chaoimh. \n\n\nREPORT: @the_Barrs ended a 29 year wait for a @OfficialCorkGAA SHC title as they defeated @RockiesCork \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) October 16\, 2022 \n  \nCork SHC Final: Victory for The Barrs \nSt Finbarr’s 2-14 Blackrock 1-7 \nSecond-half goals from Brian Hayes and Conor Cahalane were key as St Finbarr’s ended a 29-year wait for the Seán Óg Murphy Cup by beating Blackrock in Sunday’s Co-op SuperStores Cork Premier SHC final at Páirc Uí Chaoimh. \nHaving led by 0-9 to 1-5 at half-time against the 2020 champions\, St Finbarr’s had to withstand early second-half pressure from Blackrock but Hayes’s goal\, set up by Cahalane’s pass across the square\, was massive in the context of the game. \nPlayed in driving rain before a crowd of 15\,165\, the game had never had more than a three-point lead up to then. When Cahalane struck for the second Barrs goal on the three-quarter mark\, the assist provided by the outstanding Ethan Twomey\, the Togher side were 2-10 to 1-6 to the good against their southside rivals. With Blackrock only able to muster two points in the second half\, the drought dating back to 1993 – when Barrs manager Ger Cunningham won the last of his six county medals – was over. \nThis was the first time since 1982 that the clubs had met in the decider – on that occasion St Finbarr’s won as part of a senior double and they will face Nemo Rangers in the Premier SFC final at the end of October. Ben Cunningham\, son of Ger\, shone as they amassed an early 0-4 t 0-1 lead but that was wiped out as Blackrock’s Tadhg Deasy laid on a goal for Mark O’Keeffe and the men in green and gold had the lead as Michael O’Halloran sent over a point immediately after that. \nIt was the only time they led\, however\, as the Barrs responded with three from Cunningham while Cork star Damien Cahalane produced a wonderful diving block on a Robbie Cotter shot. When Brian Hayes sent over a fine point on 25\, it was 0-8 to 1-3 for the Barrs and\, though Alan Connolly and Shane O’Keeffe brought Blackrock level\, Twomey provided the pass for Cunningham’s sixth of the day to ensure the Barrs led at half-time. \nFew could have expected them to sear ahead so strongly in the third quarter\, but a point from sub William Buckley in the wake of Conor Cahalane’s goal had them 2-11 to 1-6 ahead. DESCRIPTION:Four counties shared the spoils at the 2022 Munster Scór Sinsir Final held last Sunday\, October 16th in a packed Cappamore Community Centre in Co. Limerick.  \nAll Munster’s six counties were represented across the eight disciplines with competition of the highest standard throughout the evening.  \nThe evening’s proceedings got underway with the Tráth na gCeist and after the tough\, challenging questions set by Maistir na gCeist\, Liam Rabitte\, Monaleen of Limerick\, Churchill of Kerry and Millstreet of Cork finished in the top three\, thus progressed to the on-stage quiz later in the programme and in doing so booked their ticket for the All-Ireland Final. \nThe stage competitions got underway with the Rince Foirne where Tipperary’s Newcastle dancing the ‘Cross Reel’ completed their Munster Scór Sinsir four in a row and ensured their place in Castlebar as they hope to complete a three in a row on the National stage. \nAll six counties took part in the Amhránaíocht Aonair and it was Kerry’s first win of the night where Mark O’Leary of Gneeveguilla took the Provincial crown following his rendition of ‘The Hills Around Listowel’. In Aithriseoireacht\, Noel Joyce of JK Brackens took victory to now go on and defend the 2020 All Ireland title he won last November in Bekan\, Co. Mayo.  \nThe first half was completed with the Bailéad Ghrúpa where Newport won out for the ‘Premier’ with their songs ‘The Streets of Promise’ and ‘The Orchard’. After the ‘sos’\, Monaleen took victory for the ‘Treaty County’ following the completion of the on-stage quiz and after going to tie-breaker questions with Churchill. \nThe Newport Nuachleas group ensured a double of Munster crowns for their club and now hope to complete a ‘hatrick’ of All Ireland titles\, like fellow Tipperary club Newcastle in Rince Foirne. Kilshannig earned Cork’s only Munster title of the evening and will head to Castlebar with hopes of reclaiming the Ceol Uirlise cup they won for ‘The Rebels’ in 2019. \nEast Kerry’s Gneeveguilla took a second Munster cup back to the Kingdom following their performance of the ‘Caledonian Set’ in the Rince Set competition.  \nChairman of the Munster GAA Council\, Ger Ryan presented the provincial silverware along with Cathaoirleach Coiste Scór na Mumhan\, Mairéad Uí Fhaoláin and wished the Munster Champions the very best of luck as they now go forward to represent the province at the All-Ireland Final on Saturday 12th of November at the TF Royal Theatre\, Castlebar\, Co. DESCRIPTION:Ballyea defeated Éire Óg Ennis by 2-14 to 1-16 in the 2022 Clare Senior Hurling Championship Final on Sunday October 23rd at Cusack Park Ennis. \n\n\nREPORT: @ballyea_club fired the last four points to dramatically secure historic back-to-back @GaaClare Senior Hurling crowns by beating @clgeireoginis. #GAABelong \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) October 23\, 2022 \n  \nBallyea make it back to back Clare SHC titles \nClare Senior Hurling Championship Final \nBallyea 2-14 Éire Óg 1-16 \nReport By Eoin Brennan at Cusack Park for GAA.ie \nBallyea fired the last four points to dramatically secure historic back-to-back Clare Senior Hurling crowns by beating newcomers Éire Óg in Cusack Park Ennis on Sunday afternoon. \nLevel at the break at 1-6 to 0-9\, Éire Óg’s luck appeared to turn when a fortuitious David Reidy goal immediately cancelled out Niall Deasy’s 32nd minute bullet before a Gavin Cooney wide was also waved a point for the Ennis side to edge in front for the first time in the 36th minute. \nWith that\, Éire Óg grew in confidence with every passing score as guided by Danny Russell’s placed balls\, they eked out a three point cushion entering the final ten minutes at 1-16 to 2-10. \nWith Ballyea slumping to three successive wides\, Éire Óg looked to be on track for a famous first hurling crown in 32 years. However\, Ballyea’s recent title winning experience proved crucial in the final moments as substitutes Martin O’Leary and Cathal O’Connor along with Tony Kelly levelled the tie for only the fifth time in injury-time before Niall Deasy converted the winning free from 20 metres. \nBallyea had also started on the frontfoot with Aaron Griffin spectacularly opening the scoring with a fourth minute solo goal. But\, Cleary held his cool and pointed his tenth score to tie up the game and force a replay. \nVery heavy rain in the morning ensured that the pitch would be very heavy\, but the day was sunny and bright thereafter\, although the elements had taken their toll on the surface. \nKilruane MacDonaghs were back in the first county senior hurling final since 1986 and were looking to bridge a very sizeable gap\, whereas their opponents Kiladanagan were looking for a second senior title in three years. It was very evenly poised and a bumper attendance ensured a tremendous atmosphere in FBD Semple Stadium. \nDespite being the slight underdog\, Kilruane MacDonagh were really up for this game. They shot from the traps with points from Conor Cleary and Willie Cleary early on\, and were 0-4 to 0-2 in front after ten minutes – Willie Connors and Declan McGrath pointing for Kiladangan while Willie Cleary and Cian Darcy added the two for Kilruane MacDonagh. \nBut\, Kiladangan were back on terms soon after with Paul Flynn and Brian McLoughney scores\, before a really important moment in the game arrived. \nA break forward from Niall O’Meara saw him find Jerome Cahill who buried the ball in the net for an 18th minute Kilruane MacDonagh goal. \nThat goal was to be the difference between the sides at the break – Kilruane MacDonagh leading by 1-9 to 0-9. The Kilruane MacDonagh scores came from Willie Cleary (2)\, Sean McAdams and Thomas Cleary while Paul Flynn\, Joe Gallagher\, Willie Connors and Tadhg Gallagher had the Kiladanagan scores to keep them in the hunt. \nKiladanagan had not really fired in the first half but they were still well in the game with plenty of scope for improvement. DESCRIPTION:Éire Óg Ennis defeated Ennistymon by 0-9 to 0-6 in the Clare Senior Football Championship Final on Sunday October 30th at Cusack Park Ennis. \n\nCaptain Cooney steers Éire Óg to defence of Clare title  \nReport by Joe Ó Muircheartaigh for the Irish Examiner newspaper \nClare SFC Final: Éire Óg 0-9 Ennistymon 0-6  \nIt will be another winter of content for Éire Óg’s footballers as they became the first team from the county capital to successfully defend the senior title for nearly 75 years by easing to a three-point win before 4\,608 at Clare headquarters. \nIt wasn’t pretty\, but it was effective as the champions showed much more ambition than their opponents to put the disappointment of losing last week’s hurling final behind them with a controlled performance that showed their experience at this level. \nAfter building up an interval lead of 0-3 to 0-1 they opened up in the second half to kill off a contest in which Ennistymon didn’t show enough urgency going forward to make a real contest of it. \nCaptain Gavin Cooney showed the way throughout\, with his haul of 0-6 crowning a stellar year that saw him top the championship scoring charts as well as lifting the coveted Jack Daly trophy for the second time. \nHe opened the scoring after two minutes with a point after calling a mark\, while he also added a free after Ikem Ugwueru had a good point from play after 11 minutes. Rathgormack made the better start and opened the scoring through a Jason Curry free in the second minute following a foul on Mairtín Power. \nThree minutes later\, they doubled their lead through Conor Murray who struck cleanly from the right flank following James Power’s pass. \nBy the seventh minute\, the challengers were three clear thanks to Stephen Curry\, who bisected the uprights from a tight angle right of Stephen Ryan’s crossbar. But The Nire replied immediately through Conor Gleeson\, who was sent goalward by Kyle Cuddy’s assist. \nDominating the high ball and commanding their own high and hanging kick-outs\, The Nire began to settle into the contest. \nDermot Ryan’s 15th minute free left just a point between the sides before the defending champions drew level seven minutes later as Ryan’s second converted successfully navigated the wind. But parity was retained for barely a minute thanks to a finely struck point by Billy Power. \nWith Sean Walsh and Tholom Guiry in commanding form at centre-field\, The Nire’s confidence continued to grow. \nA chain of passes linking Ciaran Walsh\, Aaron Ryan and Conor Gleeson concluded with a 24th minute point for Gleeson with Rathgormack surely wondering what had become of their early momentum. \nTwo minutes from the interval\, Aaron Ryan steered the ball brilliantly over the bar off the outside of this right boot to send The Nire ahead for the first time. But the sides went in level thanks to a well-struck effort by Rathgormack’s Glen Power\, who capitalised on Billy Power’s crossfield pass. \nThe second half began with a Conor Murray shot cannoning off the post and wide for Rathgormack\, one of several moments that felt critical come Tadhg Tobin’s full-time whistle. \nFive minutes after the restart\, Conor Gleeson found his range with a super point from wide on the left and he pointed again via a free two minutes later. Jason Curry’s 38th minute point steadied the ship from Rathgormack’s perspective but even by then it was clear that they were finding it tough to breach The Nire’s defence. \nThe fleet-footed Barron\, played in by Ciaran Walsh\, put two points between the sides in the 40th minute. Conor Murray converted his second point following fine work by Willie Hahessy on the three quarter hour mark but\, critically\, the next point went The Nire’s way through Aaron Ryan following a short 45 by Dermot Ryan. \nWith Conor Gleeson leaving the field with a suspected dislocated shoulder in the 58th minute\, the game remained in the balance. In the first additional minute\, substitute Jason Gleeson sent over a point which left just the minimum between the sides. DESCRIPTION:East Kerry defeated Mid Kerry by 1-16 to 0-10 in the Kerry County Senior Football Championship Final on Sunday October 30th at Austin Stack Park Tralee. \n\n\nREPORT: A day after being crowned PwC Footballer of the Year\, David Clifford produced a man of the match performance as East Kerry defeated Mid Kerry in the @Kerry_Official SFC Final. #GAABelong \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) October 30\, 2022 \n  \nDavid Clifford powers East Kerry to County Final glory \nEast Kerry 1-16 Mid Kerry 0-10 \nReport By Paul Brennan at Austin Stack Park for GAA.ie \nEast Kerry are Kerry county senior football champions for the third time in four years\, though the warm pre-competition favourites were comfortable winners against a dogged Mid Kerry team that couldn’t quite avenge the 2020 county final loss to the same opponent. \nLess than 48 hours after being named Footballer of the Year\, David Clifford and his All Star brother Paudie led the East Kerry attack\, scoring 1-11 between them\, though\, inevitably the former had the lion’s share of it\, with 1-9 in a man of the match performance. \nIndeed\, it was David’s goal in the 45th minute that was the title clinching score\, ending any remote hope Mid Kerry might have had of a late charge that would have delivered a first title for the district since 2008. \nThe goal was a highlight in an otherwise fairly mundane contest\, such was the eventual winner’s complete control from start to finish\, finally bringing to bear their strength in depth after unconvincing quarter-final and semi-final wins. \nThe ball passed quickly through the hands of James O’Donoghue\, Ruairi Murphy\, Jonathan Lyne and Paudie Clifford before arriving to David who tapped the ball to the net from five metres out. However\, despite this\, the day itself was bright and sunny – a very similar setting to the drawn game a week previously. \nThere was a huge sense of anticipation in Tipperary leading up to the replay after the grand finale to the drawn match which saw the sides tied at the very death. They had bagged 1-8 apiece in the final quarter to keep spectators on the edge of their seats and more of the same was expected from the replay. \nIt was Kiladangan who had the better of the exchanges early as they raced into a 0-4 to 0-1 lead – the points coming from Bryan McLoughney (2)\, Tom O’Meara and Dan O’Meara\, against a solitary score from Mark O’Neill for Kilruane MacDonagh. \nThe scores were coming thick and fast and Kiladangan could have extended their lead further still had it not been for Kilruane MacDonagh keeper Paidi Williams who saved a blistering penalty from his opposite number Barry Hoganin the 6th minute. \nBut\, Williams was unable to prevent a Tom O’Meara goal in the 17th minute for Kiladangan as the margin extended to 1-5 to 0-3 – Willie Cleary and Aaron Morgan pointing for Kilruane MacDonagh in the meantime. \nBy the interval\, Kildangan\, who played with the assistance of the breeze\, led by 1-9 to 0-7 with Paul Flynn and Bryan McLoughney (2) adding to their tally\, while Willie Cleary frees were keeping an under-par Kilruane MacDonagh in the game. \nIt all changed in the second half though and Kilruane MacDonagh were back on terms by the 12th minute with scores from Willie Cleary (2)\, Sean McAdams (2)\, James Cleary and Cian Darcy (2) bringing them level. \nThe momentum was now with them and when Darcy sent them in front and then bagged an 18th minute goal\, Kiladangan were left stunned. DESCRIPTION:Nemo Rangers defeated St. Finbarr’s by 1-16 to 2-9 in the Cork Senior Football Championship Final on Sunday October 30th at Páirc Uí Chaoimh. \n\n\nREPORT: @NemoRangersGAA are the @OfficialCorkGAA Premier Senior Football Champions in their centenary year after overcoming @the_Barrs at Páirc Uí Chaoimh this evening. #GAABelong \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) October 30\, 2022 \n  \nNemo Rangers crowned Cork Premier Senior Football champions \nNemo Rangers 1-16 St Finbarrs 2-9 \nReport By Dylan O’Connell at Páirc Uí Chaoimh for GAA.ie \nNemo Rangers are the Cork Premier Senior Football Champions in their centenary year after overcoming St Finbarr’s 1-16 to 2-9 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday evening. \nThe result also puts an end to the Barr’s pursuit of an elusive hurling and football double\, a feat last achieved in 1982 by the club. \nNone of the history mattered when the ball was thrown in at 4pm\, as this is one of the hottest rivals in Cork sport. \nFor a south-side derby\, the opening to this game felt more like a western as the two teams engaged in a shot for shot duel in the opening ten minutes. \nRonan Dalton knocked over the first score inside sixty seconds and Ian Maguire responded straight away. \nEoin McGreevy and Steven Sherlock combined and two points saw St Finbarr’s edge into a one point advantage. \nNemo\, who have not lost to their southside rivals since a fourth round meeting in 2012\, blinked and immediately took control of this final. \nThey hit six scores between Sherlock’s point and the half-time whistle and they only missed one opportunity\, and it was corner back Kevin O’Donovan who hit this. \nLuke Connolly raked up four points in the first half\, with three of those from frees. Conor Horgan put over three scores from Nemo\, and each one of these was from open play. \nTheir defensive highlight was a double save from goalkeeper Micheal Aodh Martin\, who dived twice to deny Sherlock and Colin Lyons. \nThe Barr’s frustrations were made worse by the fact that Sherlock missed the resulting 45. \nNemo added to their 0-9 to 0-4 half-time lead with another score from open play by Connolly. They regain their crown which they won in 2020\, and now have a remarkable seven since they first won the Daly Cup in 2011. \nManager Kieran Bermingham was captain on that day and has now won his second in charge of the 2016 All-Ireland winners. \nHis side were superb for the vast majority of this contest and but for the concession of two late goals\, the margin could have been greater. \nFintan O’Connor’s Kilmallock never got into their stride and when Breen found the net on six minutes\, Na Piarsaigh found their first notable lead. Breen would end the match as man-of-the-match for a typically fine display. \nBreen was assisted by Daíthí Dempsey and Peter Casey\, with the latter landing seven from play over the course of the hour. \nGraeme Mulcahy was keeping Kilmallock in touch and landed three first half points\, but their key threats in Oisin O’Reilly and Shane O’Brien were well shackled by a strong Na Piarsaigh defence.  \nThe accuracy on display was superb from both sides with just one wide from either side in the opening half. Kilmallock’s radar was off more in the second half and this stat ended with nine for the men in green. \nThe last act of the first half saw Breen collect a Casey delivery and turn beyond Arron Costello and fire\, one handed\, to the net. The half-time score read Na Piarsaigh 2-13\, Kilmallock 0-12. \nKilmallock failed to score in the opening ten minutes of the second stanza. This third quarter saw Casey land four as the margin swelled to 2-18 to 0-13. \nThe Balbec ran the bench with Kevin O’Donnell\, Conor Hanley Clarke and Robbie Egan all in for an improbable rescue mission. Their in-ability to halt the Na Piarsaigh momentum was illustrated their failure to put back-to-back scores together in the second half. \nThey did fire home two late goals\, with Hanley Clarke\, son of the great Dave\, powering home a 20 meter-free.
