DESCRIPTION:Kilkenny defeated Clare by 2-26 to 0-20 in the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship Semi-Final on Saturday July 2nd at Croke Park. \n\n\nREPORT: @KilkennyCLG delivered a dynamic display to defeat @GaaClare at @CrokePark \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) July 2\, 2022 \n  \nAll-Ireland SHC semi-final: Kilkenny cruise to victory \nKILKENNY 2-26 CLARE 0-20 \nReport by Kevin Egan at Croke Park for GAA.ie \nAnything and everything was expected in this evening’s clash between Kilkenny and Clare at Croke Park\, though very few supporters made the pilgrimage to Jones’ Road anticipating the largest margin of victory in an All-Ireland semi-final for a decade. \nOn a day when Clare’s striking in front of the posts deserted them\, it was the most subtle of Kilkenny touches that made all the difference. This was a victory for clever use of the ball\, only playing it exactly as far as it needed to go\, and above all\, getting a touch\, a flick\, anything\, to disrupt the Clare player in possession. If the scoreboard was a touch one-sided\, the hook/bock/tackle count must have been doubly so\, and this proved to be as much of a factor as Clare’s 24 wides. \nThe word from the Marble County was that the quality of the training and in-house games over the past month\, since their workmanlike victory over Galway in the Leinster final\, hinted at a big performance this afternoon. Few could have imagined the whirlwind that was to come. \nPerhaps the biggest question mark over Kilkenny coming into the game was their lack of consistent scoring threats up front\, with TJ Reid’s metronomic freetaking and Adrian Mullen’s performances from midfield carrying the load in that regard. \nSure enough\, it was a Mullen point and a free from Reid that kept the sides level in the early stages\, cancelling out a sharp score from David Fitzgerald and a gorgeous piece of footwork from Shane O’Donnell that got Clare off the mark. \nAlready however\, the wide count was mounting for the Banner. Their clear tactic of going long\, both in terms of trying to hit their inside forwards from distance\, and shooting from the middle third of the field\, was yielding both wides and turnovers\, and when Kilkenny got on a run of possession\, the contrast was stark.   \nEoin Cody made a real statement by winning possession past two defenders and firing the ball over from an acute angle\, and by the 15th minute they had moved five clear through Reid\, Cody and Browne. \nThe crowd of just under 40\,000\, the majority sporting blue and yellow\, grew increasingly nervous as Tony Kelly missed the target with a couple of frees\, and up front\, only David Fitzgerald was making any sort of meaningful impression on the game; and even he was finding the going tough on Richie Reid. \nWhen Diarmuid Ryan stepped up to make a fine catch and point in the 20th minute\, reducing the gap to four points\, 0-9 to 0-5\, Clare were still in the game and just needed to settle. \nBy half-time\, they might as well have had to scale the Cliffs of Moher\, as they trailed by 14\, 1-17 to 0-6. Six points in a row\, scored by six different players\, put paid to the idea that there is no variation of threat in the Kilkenny attack. \nMany of the scores could have been traced back to Clare errors\, either forced dispossessions in their own half\, brought about by Kilkenny pressure\, or poor deliveries into the Clare forwards that were turned over and methodically worked down the field. \nA Tony Kelly free – his first score of the game – briefly stemmed the bleeding\, but then yet another turnover led to a Pádraig Walsh score\, Clare fluffed a goal chance with an overhit pass and again the ball was worked down the field for Adrian Mullen to split the posts\, and even though it was only just before half-time\, it felt final when Martin Keoghan attempted to bat the sliotar past Éibhear Quilligan and then followed up to tap the ball to the net when the Feakle man made a superb block. \n11 wides\, three shots dropped short and two missed goal chances summed up Clare’s first half. It got no better after the break either. Diarmuid Ryan\, Rory Hayes and Kelly all pointed from distance to cut the gap slightly\, but that run of scores was well-punctuated by further wides\, while Kilkenny continued to threaten at the other end. \nWith Clare getting increasingly desperate in their bid to push forward and eat into the lead\, Cian Kenny found an ocean of space to run through and slip in a second goal\, and there was no way back. \nTonight\, tomorrow and next week will be too early to take crumbs of solace from such meagre consolation\, but Clare’s bench helped steady the ship a little bit\, with Cian Nolan and Mark Rodgers particularly impressive\, while Shane O’Donnell nicked three late points to reduce the gap\, but the margin never fell below ten\, and there was never a moment when Eoin Murphy was tested to the limit in the Kilkenny goal either. \nOne place in the 2022 All-Ireland hurling final has been locked down. The only years Kilkenny didn’t qualify for semi-finals in the Cody years were 2018-2017-2013.\nThis will be the eighth championship meetings between Clare and Kilkenny\, with the Cats having won five to Clare’s one and one draw from the previous seven. Clare’s only win came in the 1997 All-Ireland semi-final.\nTheir last competitive clash was in last year’s Allianz League when Clare won by four points (4-20 to 1-25).\n\nWHO DOES BEST: PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONS OR QUARTER-FINAL WINNERS? \nIt’s 28-22 in wins for provincial winners over All-Ireland quarter-final winners in the semi-final since the hurling championship exited the straight knock-out system in 1997. There were also two draws. \nLeinster winners have fared much better in semi-finals than their Munster counterparts. Leinster champions have won 17\, lost eight and drawn two; Munster champions have won 11\, lost 14 and drawn two. \nMunster champions went through a particularly bad spell between 2012 and 2019 when they lost seven and won one of eight All-Ireland semi-finals. Tipperary (2016) were the only winners. Tipperary (2012-2015)\, Cork (2014-2017-2018)\, Limerick (2013-2019) all lost. \nLimerick won their last two All-Ireland semi-finals (2020-2021) as Munster winners. Kilkenny lost their last two semi-finals (2020-2021) as Leinster winners.

With the four minutes of stoppage time expired and the gap down to two points\, a free from 40 metres out of the Offaly goal was floated in by Paddy Phelan\, and corner forward Paddy McCormack rose highest to flash his hurl and whip the sliotar past Liam Hoare for the game’s decisive score.  \nIt was a conclusion that no-one could have seen coming. For 20 minutes\, Offaly were marginally the better side\, though they struggled to make it count on the scoreboard as they put eight of their first 15 shots wide of the target. Then\, for the next 30\, they took control. 1-3 without reply in the lead up to half-time left six between them at the interval\, and while Tipperary rallied with three on the spin after the interval\, Offaly settled again\, picking off some crucial points from distance and inspired by two superb saves from Liam Hoare.  \nYet for all that\, they never did quite enough to shake off Tipperary\, and moreover\, Tipperary never played like a team that felt their dream of lifting the Irish Press Cup was out of reach\, and their persistence was to yield a rich dividend by the time Shane Glynn sounded the final whistle.  \nThese two sides came into the contest on the back of very different semi-final victories\, with Offaly prevailing in a tense and tight battle with Clare\, while Tipperary came through an epic shootout against Galway. If this game was to be decided by who dictated the early terms of engagement\, then the Leinster champions were the team that looked to be on course for victory. Both sides had an extra man at the defensive end of the field\, and with little or no space for the inside forwards\, just four of the first ten points of the contest were struck from play. Gradually Offaly began to get some traction close to goal\, where corner forwards Daniel Hand and Adam Screeney picked off superb scores\, while Tipperary’s strength was in the middle third\, with Adam Daly and Ciarán Foley both on the scoresheet from distance as the half progressed.  \nForwards’ roles seemed to be as much about tackling and pressurising the opposition as much as it was about raising flags\, and when three Tipp forwards combined to force a turnover and allow Daly to whip the ball over\, that pushed the men in blue and gold ahead by 0-8 to 0-7.  \nThe next five minutes seemed like it would define the contest.  \nLeigh Kavanagh won a puckout and set up Conor Doyle\, Screeney shot two more unbelievable points\, then Daniel Hand split the uprights from the left touchline. Just about. \nGalway produced a display dripping with defiance\, but Limerick had the depth to locate the answers. \nUltimately stern questions were posed by Henry Shefflin’s admirably spirited outfit\, but Limerick were able to absorb Galway’s passionate performance. \nIn the dying stages when the issue was delicately poised Limerick substitute David Reidy flared to prominence nailing three crafty points. \nThat was what divided the teams at the end of an absorbing battle. Following a Munster final for the ages\, Limerick had to demonstrate grit again. \nAt the end John Kiely punched the air in delight\, fully aware that this was added to a growing list of satisfying triumphs. \nEarly on the evidence suggested Galway would be in for a demanding afternoon. Trailing 0-6 to 0-1 by the eight minute Galway had squandered a string of opportunities. \nIt was a theme of the first half\, but so to was the gutsy manner in which Galway were competing. \nThe Tribesmen\, though\, prompted by Tom Monaghan and Ronan Glennon’s industry and David Burke’s guile\, gradually came into the reckoning. \nPadraic Mannion and Joseph Cooney were wholehearted too as Galway started to reduce the deficit. \nInevitably Limerick carried a potent threat with Aaron Gillane instrumental for the standard bearers. \nGillane and Kyle Hayes were causing plenty of bother as Limerick edged 0-13 to 0-9 clear in the 29th minute. \nConor Cooney subsequently converted a free with Cathal Mannion adding two from play as Galway trimmed the gap to the minimum. \nLimerick finished the opening period strongly with Gillane drilling two scores either side of a Declan Hannon effort. \nIt meant the green and white side led by 0-16 to 0-12 at the turnaround. In the first 35 minutes Limerick’s efficiency levels were crucial\, registering 0-16 from 20 shots\, while Galway only scored 0-12 from 27. \nWhen the action recommenced Cathal Mannion rifled over a point before Brian Concannon plundered a 37th minute goal. \nDavid Burke’s pass was gathered by Concannon\, who made the Limerick net dance. Joseph Cooney whipped over a gorgeous point and suddenly Galway were 1-14 to 0-16 in front. \nLimerick were under duress\, but they didn’t panic. Diarmaid Byrnes was mining frees from distance as the game continued to ebb and flow. \nA Tom Monaghan point steered Galway 1-19 to 0-21 ahead with nine minutes left. Cian Lynch was introduced\, while his Patrickswell colleague Gillane levelled. \nReidy traded scores with Fintan Burke. Kyle Hayes guided Limerick into the lead. Conor Whelan restored parity again in the 66th minute. \nThen Reidy returned to centre stage contributing two gorgeous points. Byrnes sealed the deal with a last gasp free. \nAn All Ireland decider against Kilkenny is next on the agenda for Limerick. DESCRIPTION:Kerry defeated Dublin by 1-14 to 1-13 in the GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship Semi-Final on Sunday July 10th at Croke Park. \n\nMatch Highlights \n\nWatch the Full-Time Highlights of Dublin v Kerry in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Semi-Final here on #GAANOW pic.twitter.com/gm3WxSSMpL \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) July 10\, 2022 \n  \n\n\nREPORT: Sean O’Shea displayed nerves of steel and incredible technique to seal a dramatic All-Ireland SFC semi-final win for @Kerry_Official over @DubGAAOfficial by converting a 50-yard free at the death. #GAABelong \n— The GAA (@officialgaa) July 10\, 2022 \n  \nAll-Ireland SFC semi-final: O’Shea stunner seals epic Kerry win over Dublin \nKERRY 1-14 DUBLIN 1-13 \nReport By John Harrington at Croke Park for GAA.ie \nSean O’Shea displayed nerves of steel and incredible technique to win this dramatic All-Ireland SFC semi-final for Kerry by converting a 50-yard free at the death. \nIt was a wonderful score\, and all the more impressive considering he was kicking into a stiff breeze and a raucous Hill 16. \nBut the Kenmare man made it look easy as his kick sailed over the bar with plenty to spare. \nIt must have been a hugely satisfying moment\, particularly as he’d missed a first-half penalty that could have made this a much more straight-forward game for Kerry. \nThey were much the better team in that first-half and for a good portion of the second-half too\, but had to do it the hard way in the end because Dublin showed such courage in the face of adversity. \nInspired by warriors like James McCarthy\, Ciarán Kilkenny\, and Brian Fenton\, they summoned a second-half comeback that very nearly turned the game on its head. \nKerry showed character too because it would have been easy to wilt when Dublin suddenly caught fire in that second-half\, and in the final reckoning Jack O’Connor’s team were definitely deserving victors. \nFrom the very start this was an absorbing contest played at an incredibly high tempo by two superbly conditioned teams. \nEvery turnover felt like a statement\, every big hit drew loud acclaim from the supporters. \nSuch was the ferocity with which both teams tackled that ball handling had to be superb to transition from defence to attack successfully\, and in the opening minutes both teams did that very well. \nLee Gannon opened the scoring for Dublin with a sweet point from the left side off his right foot\, but Sean O’Shea responded immediately for Kerry with a nice left-footed score. \nTwo minutes later the powerful Kerry centre-forward did even better\, scoring the first goal of the match when he charged in along the end line and shot low past Evan Comerford. \nIt was poor defending by Dublin to give him the latitude to get his shot off\, but credit to O’Shea for backing himself to go for the jugular. \nDublin’s response to this early set-back was positive. Dean Rock converted a free and then Brian Howard pointed after James McCarthy’s shot at goal was well saved by Shane Ryan. \nBut as the half progressed\, Kerry started to turn the screw. Their defending was superb as they packed their half of the pitch whenever Dublin had possession and put huge pressure on the ball. \nThis approach yielded a series of big turnovers that delighted the Kerry crowd and when Dublin forwards did create an opportunity to shoot they were usually doing it under pressure. \nKerry’s counter-attacking gameplan was working well\, and when they got the ball forward to David Clifford he showed he was very much in the groove. \nHe scored his first from play on 12 minutes\, converted a brilliantly taken mark seven minutes later\, and then scored his second from play two minutes after that to push Kerry 1-6 to 0-5 ahead. \nDublin sustained another body blow when John Small was then black-carded for an off-the-ball pull down\, but Kerry didn’t quite make as much of a benefit of their numerical advantage as you felt they might. \nA Dean Rock free reduced the gap to three again before Kerry had a glorious chance to put real daylight between the teams when Gavin White won a penalty after being fouled in the square by Lorcan O’Dell. \nSean O’Shea fluffed his lines with the subsequent kick though\, with his side-footed effort well saved by Evan Comerford. \nKerry did have the last say of the half though and it was that man David Clifford again\, bullying his way past three Dublin defenders to curl over another glorious score that left the Kingdom leading by 1-8 to 0-6 at the break. \nClifford weaved some more magic right at the start of the second half to create a goal-scoring chance for Stephen O’Brien with a brilliant cross-field pass. \nO’Brien probably should have kicked it first time\, soccer-style\, but instead tried to collect the ball on the run and fouled the ball by picking it straight off the ground. \nKerry did score the first point of the half two minutes later and once again it was that man Clifford\, this time curling over another left-footed after jinking outside his marker Michael Fitzsimons. \nYou felt like Kerry had the wherewithal to start pulling away\, but Dublin stuck grittily to the task and points from Brian Fenton and Paddy Small kept them in touch. \nThen came what they really craved\, a goal to blow the game wide open again. \nIt was a sumptuous score too. A handling error from David Moran turned over possession and Dublin swept down field with the ball eventually reaching Cormac Costello on an overlapping run. \nThe Whitehall man had a lot to do\, but he struck his low cross-shot brilliantly to the net off the far post. \nWhen Ciaran Kilkenny then hand-passed a point a minute later there was just a point between the teams and the roars from the Dublin supporters told you they believed this would now be their day. \nCredit to Kerry\, they managed the game well in the next 15 minutes\, holding onto possession for concerted periods to stifle Dublin’s momentum. \nPaudie Clifford was having a big second-half and two points from him put a buffer between the teams again. \nBut Dublin just refused to die and two well taken point from James McCarthy and Ciaran Kilkenny reduced the deficit to the minimum again\, 1-12 to 1-11\, with seven minutes of normal time remaining. \nThis was now a gut-test for Kerry\, and their supporters must have had their heads in their hands when Diarmuid O’Connor missed a good chance that would have put them two clear with three minutes of normal time remaining. \nA brilliant Michael Fitzsimons interception then gave Dublin the impetus to find a 69th minute equaliser. The decider\, on a melting afternoon in the capital\, was another gripping match. \nKilkenny examined Limerick’s resolve\, but John Kiely’s decorated team did enough. A three in a row was completed\, and for the fourth occasion in five years the green and white flag is perched on the summit of the hurling world. \nSimiliar to Limerick’s previous two matches so much happened. In the build up Cian Lynch was ruled out with an ankle injury\, but Limerick ploughed on. \nGearoid Hegarty was influential\, mining 1-5 from play\, Declan Hannon led by example\, while Kyle Hayes and Tom Morrissey were always relevant. \nKilkenny might have lost the game\, but Brian Cody’s outfit hurled with passion and purpose until the bitter end. Limerick just had the style and steel to prevail. \nThe opening period illustrated Limerick’s craft and Kilkenny’s courage. Kiely’s side enjoyed plenty of productive moments in a high quality match\, but Kilkenny remained defiant throughout. \nBy the time the interval rolled around Limerick’s lead was 1-17 to 0-16 as Kilkenny battled with trademark grit. \nEarly on Limerick made a significant impression with Diarmaid Byrnes rifling over a free from distance. \nIn the fourth minute Gearoid Hegarty gathered the sliotar following a Séamus Flanagan touch. Hegarty somehow manufactured sufficient space to unleash a blistering effort that made the Kilkenny net dance. \nAaron Gillane subsequently kicked over a point as Limerick accumulated a 1-2 to 0-0 advantage by the sixth minute. \nKilkenny\, though\, were gutsy with TJ Reid\, Eoin Cody\, Paddy Deegan\, Martin Keoghan\, and Michael Carey landing points as the deficit was trimmed to 1-8 to 0-8 by the 19th minute. \nHegarty was causing Kilkenny bother\, while Flanagan\, Gillane\, and Kyle Hayes were also motoring smoothly. \nA 32nd minute Hayes point nudged Limerick 1-15 to 0-12 clear\, but four of the next six points were registered by Kilkenny. \nUltimately it meant that Kilkenny only trailed 1-17 to 0-16 at the turnaround. The efficiency figures of both teams were decent with Limerick clipping 1-17 from 23 attempts\, while Kilkenny nailed 0-16 from 21. \nAfter the restart it wasn’t as open and loose\, but it remained intriguing. Points from Hayes and Gillane nudged Limerick six to the good\, but then Kilkenny planted a goal. \nSubstitute Walter Walsh fashioned the opportunity with Billy Ryan supplying the finish. Suddenly the gap was down to three and Croke Park was rocking. \nA second Kilkenny goal was registered in the 47th minute when TJ Reid and Eoin Cody created the chance for Martin Keoghan\, who netted as Kilkenny’s lead was cut to 1-22 to 2-18. \nAnother hard working Kilkenny replacement\, John Donnelly\, restored parity\, but Limerick stayed focused. \nWith Tom Morrissey effective Limerick struck four of the next five points to lead 1-26 to 2-20 by the 58th minute. \nThen Kilkenny reeled off three without reply. Reid\, Adrian Mullen\, and Richie Hogan\, who received a stirring ovation\, provided scores to level again. \nLimerick found a way\, though\, embarking on a productive burst themselves. Hayes\, substitutes Cathal O’Neill and Conor Boylan\, Gillane\, and Hegarty all raised white flags as Limerick pulled 1-31 to 2-23 clear. \nDespite the setback\, Kilkenny came thundering back. Tommy Walsh and subs Alan Murphy and David Blanchfield drilled over points in additional time. \nWhen Colm Lyons’ last whistle sounded Limerick were two ahead and some Cranberries tunes were shortly reverberating around the famous Jones Road venue. It is a remarkable feat. \nKerry just had too much for Galway in the closing stages as they reeled off four points without reply. \nThe majestic David Clifford rifled over a pressure free from under the Cusack Stand before substitute Killian Spillane and the pacy Gavin White contributed key scores. \nThen\, just to seal the deal\, Seán O’Shea clipped a free and there was no way back for a gallant Galway. \nThere was so much to admire in Galway’s football during an absorbing match. Shane Walsh concluded with a nine point haul and performed with commendable class. \nCillian McDaid drove forward to nail four points from play\, but it still wasn’t enough. Kerry were able to deal with Galway’s cocktail of passion and purpose. \nUnsurprisingly the opening period was tight and hard fought with Kerry squandering plenty of opportunities. That was chiefly due to Galway’s gutsy defensive effort as the Tribesmen inevitably had to cope with an aerial bombardment initially. \nAt the opposite end of the field Galway\, prompted by Walsh’s skill\, were efficient mining 0-8 from 11 attempts. Kerry only registered 0-7 from 15. \nGalway edged 0-5 to 0-2 in front by the 17th minute\, but Kerry summoned a response. Paul Geaney (mark)\, David Clifford\, and Stephen O’Brien all guided over points for Kerry to level. \nIt was 0-7 each on the cusp of half-time when McDaid struck a sweet point to nudge Galway ahead. \nAfter the restart David Clifford remained hugely relevant as Kerry took a 0-11 to 0-10 lead in the 42nd minute. \nOnce again\, though\, Galway started to pose some questions. Four of the next five points were scored by the maroon and white outfit with McDaid\, Walsh\, and Kieran Molloy central. \nThe Galwegian burst ensured Kerry trailed by 0-14 to 0-12\, but Kerry subsequently enjoyed a productive spell. \nSeán O’Shea (free)\, Graham O’Sullivan\, David Clifford (free)\, and Paudie Clifford raised white flags as Kerry went 0-16 to 0-14 clear. \nIt remained delicately poised. DESCRIPTION:Meath defeated Kerry by 3-10 to 1-7 in the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies SFC Final on Sunday July 31st at Croke Park. \n\nMeath 3-10 Kerry 1-7 \nBy Daire Walsh \nSubstitute Bridgetta Lynch scored the crucial third goal and a magnificent Meath completed back-to-back TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championships with a nine-point victory over Kerry. \nMaiden winners of the Brendan Martin Cup in 2021 with a stunning showpiece triumph against Dublin\, the Royal County overcame a shaky start to retain their crown in front of 46\,440 at Croke Park.  \nLouise Ní Mhuircheartaigh led the Kingdom charge\, but with Niamh O’Sullivan and Vikki Wall in inspired form for their opponents\, they fell short in their quest for a first senior title since 1993. \nAfter wing-back Ciara Murphy and Corca Dhuibhne sharpshooter Ní Mhuircheartaigh kicked early points\, the latter capitalised on a miscued short kick-out to loft the ball over the head of Meath goalkeeper Monica McGuirk for a 7th minute goal. \nThis was a dream start for the Kingdom but Meath responded in the manner of true champions.\nSqueezed in between frees from Stacey Grimes and Wall\, the raiding Emma Troy got on the end of a Kelsey Nesbitt pass to rifle the ball into the top left-hand corner. Having restored parity in lightning quick time\, the Royals subsequently took control of the proceedings courtesy of four points without reply from Wall (two)\, Grimes and the ever-influential Troy. \nSíofra O’Shea\, Paris McCarthy and Lorraine Scanlon posted much-needed scores for the Kingdom but\, with O’Sullivan and Grimes also finding the range in a lively second quarter\, Meath brought a 1-8 to 1-5 buffer into the break. \nWhile O’Shea and Ní Mhuircheartaigh points ensured this lead was narrowed to the bare minimum on the restart\, Emma Duggan went on to become the third successful Meath free-taker of the game. Lynch\, K Newe; A Leahy\, E Troy\, A Cleary; M O’Shaughnessy\, O Lally; M Thynne\, E Duggan\, K Nesbitt; V Wall\, S Grimes\, N O’Sullivan.   \n\nMatch Preview \nMEATH for the second successive year – or a 12th title for Kerry?   \nAll will be revealed Croke Park in today’s TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Senior Football Final\, with both teams unchanged from their semi-final starting line-outs.   \nFor the first time since 2009\, when Kerry won by 2-19 to 0-10 in a knockout tie\, the two counties will lock horns in a Senior Championship tie.   \nThere is recent Croke Park history\, however\, as Meath defeated Kerry in the 2021 Lidl National League Division 2 Final at GAA HQ.   \nMeath\, as Division 2 champions\, went on to claim the TG4 All-Ireland Senior title in sensational fashion.   \nLess than a calendar year after landing the Intermediate crown\, Meath stormed to Senior glory\, defeating Dublin to deny the Sky Blues five-in-a-row.    \nMeath are also Lidl National League Division 1 champions now but Kerry are the Division 2 holders\, having seen off Armagh at Croke Park in April.   \nIt’s the clash of the League champions on the biggest day of the year – and only one can prevail.\nRemarkably\, this is a fifth successive All-Ireland Final appearance for Meath. They contested three successive Intermediate deciders\, finally cracking the code in 2020 against Westmeath\, and are now back for a second Senior Final in a row.   \nFor Kerry\, this is a first All-Ireland Senior Final since 2012 and if they can complete the job they’ve started\, the Kingdom will be crowned champions for a record 12th time.   \nKerry and Munster rivals Cork currently sit level at the top of the all-time roll of honour with 11 wins each – but Kerry haven’t tasted glory since way back in 1993.   \nIn terms of novelty factor\, this Final certainly has it. You have to go all the way back to 2002\, when Mayo defeated Monaghan\, for the last time that a Final didn’t feature either Cork or Dublin.\nThe presence of Meath\, Donegal\, Kerry and Mayo in the last four brought a ‘wide open’ feel to the conclusion of the Championship.   \nNow that Kerry and Meath are here\, they’ll be looking to their proven matchwinners to produce the goods.   \nThese are also two sides that have bounced back from provincial Final heartbreak to successfully navigate their way to the All-Ireland decider.  Meath lost out to Dublin in the Leinster Final\, as Cork got the better of Kerry.   \nSince then\, Meath and Kerry are both undefeated. In Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh\, Kerry have the leading scorer in the TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship. Four games for the Corca Dhuibhne wizard have produced 3-22\, a total of 31 points and that’s 13 clear of Meath’s leading scorer\, Stacey Grimes\, who’s collected 0-18.   \nEmma Duggan’s total of 1-11 to date for Meath shouldn’t be underestimated either. That late\, late winner in the quarter-final against Galway will live long in the memory\, and she was sensational in the semi-final victory over Donegal\, scoring four points and earning the Player of the Match award. In clutch moments\, Duggan’s a clutch player.   \nThere’s been a feeling that Meath have been doing just enough in their recent games but there’s a resilience about them and when their backs are against the wall\, they don’t do panic.   \nKerry won’t fear them\, though\, because they know what Meath did to Dublin last year\, when the Royals went into the Final as underdogs. If Meath could do that in 2021\, Kerry will surely feel ‘why not us?’\nKerry have come through some big games to get here. Galway\, Armagh and Mayo are notable scalps but Meath is the acid test.   \nThe 2021 Lidl Division 2 Final ended with ten points separating the sides but both teams have moved on considerably since then – and are better teams now.
