Kilkenny and Cork to prevail according to new ‘Round the Square Pundits

Friday 6 July 2012

The Old Firm can expect success this weekend in the two provincial finals up for decision. That’s the view of ‘Round the Square’s new guest analysts Donal Óg Cusack and Stevie McDonnell. The duo previewed this weekend’s big matches at the 2012 launch of gaa.ie’s popular online championship magazine programme ‘Round the Square’, which returns for a third series over the coming weeks.

Donal and Steven will contribute written columns to gaa.ie over the remainder of the summer ahead of big championship weekends in both hurling and football and they will also feature in front of the camera offering their insightful views on ‘Round the Square’ as the championships hot up in the weeks ahead.

Legendary Cork goalkeeper and multiple All-Ireland winner Donal Óg, who is assisting the Cork hurlers backroom team since his Achilles injury, will cast a critical eye on the remainder of the championship.

Recently retired former Armagh and Ireland captain Steven McDonnell, will also put football’s contenders under scrutiny in the weeks and months ahead.
‘Round the Square will be available to download on gaa.ie every Thursday at 1pm from the end of July right up to the All-Ireland football final.
Two special pre-final shows will also be streamed live from Croke Park in September.

The return of the series and the role of our two new columnists complement the Association’s heightened activity across both Facebook and Twitter.
GAA supporters can win tickets on Official GAA Facebook every ‘Ticket Tuesday’ and debate our ‘Team of the Week’ while all of the latest GAA fixtures, scores and happenings can be followed @officialgaa on Twitter.

Lisa Clancy Director of Communications said:
“We are delighted with the success of Round the Square which connects the GAA directly with our supporters around the world on gaa.ie. We look forward to another great GAA season with plenty of debate and analysis on GAA matters.  Donal Óg Cusack and Steven McDonnell will provide us with unique insights and we hope that all our supporters will enjoy the weekly Championship update.”
