GAA Games Development Conference

The theme of this year’s Nnational Games Development Conference is

Coaching to Optimise Playing Performance – Nurturing the Culture of Skill and Will.

The Conference takes place in Croke Park on Friday November 20th and Saturday November 21st.

Speakers include Pat Daly, Director of Games, Jimmy D’Arcy, Games Development Manager, Michael Dempsey, Kilkenny, Ollie Canning, Galway, Paul Potrac, University of Hull, Tony Healy, DJ Carey and Enda Timoney, Handball Association, Enda McNulty, Armagh, Rod Thorpe, Loughborough University, Mickey Ned O’Sullivan, Kerry, Aidan O’Connell, Cork, Cian O’Neill, UL, Rosemary Daniels, Coaching Ireland, Liam Sheedy, Tipperary, Caroline Currid, Sligo, Gary Keegan Irish Institute of Sport.

(Former Cork Hurler. Cork All-Ireland Winning Manager and RTE Gaelic Games Analyst).

Developing Hurling skills.

Aoife Hearn. Nutritionist

(Aoife is a former member of the National Track and Field Team 1994-2000. She was the national 100 sprint champion in 1997. Aoife is nutrition advisor to various athletes in different sports and is currently nutrition advosor to the Tipperary Senior Hurling Team). Aoife wil speak on “Nutritional needs of the developing adolescent”.

Eamonn Ryan

(Former Cork Footballer. Multiple All- Ireland winning coach with the Cork Ladies Football Team.) Eamonn will speak on Developing Football skills to improve performance”. Video presentation.

Eddie Harnett

Physiotherapist. Eddie will speak on “Stretching techniques as an aid to injury prevention”. Practical demonstration.

Pat Flanagan

Lecturer in Tralee IT. (Former trainer of the Kerry Senior Football Team. Former international Athlete. Former trainer of successful Tralee IT Sigerson Cup teams). Pat will speak on “Running Mechanics, correct posture to improve mobility”.

Dr Liam Hennessy

(Director of fitness for IRFU. Former Chief Exercise Physiologist of the Irish Olympic Team. Liam has worked with various professional soccer teams in Germany, Italy and England. He has extensive research interests in all aspects of physiology and his reputation is highly regarded world wide.) Liam will speak on “Developing players in the long term. How coaching skills influence a players development”.
