Munster Club SFC Q-F – Commercials 0-12 Newcastlewest 1-7

Clonmel Commercials (Tipperary) defeated Newcastlewest (Limerick) by 0-12 to 1-7 in the AIB Munster Senior Club Football Championship Quarter-Final Sunday November 1st at Clonmel Sportsfield.

MUNSTER CLUB SFC QUARTER-FINAL: CLONMEL COMMERCIALS 0-12 NEWCASTLE WEST 1-7

By Jackie Cahill at Clonmel Sportsfield for GAA.ie

Clonmel Commercials have become the first Tipperary team to win a game in the AIB Munster senior club football championship since 2006. The Premier County kingpins produced a stunning revival on home soil against Limerick’s Newcastle West to set up a provincial semi-final with Clare’s St Joseph’s Milltown in a fortnight.

Commercials were four points down with five minutes of normal time remaining but rallied to win by two. Having drawn level, Commercials could have lost it when Newcastle West defender Paul Hannan blasted a shot off the upright when clean through on goal.

Commercials won a ’45 at the other end and Michael Quinlivan converted the lead score in the second minute of stoppage time, before the superb Seamus Kennedy added the insurance. At half-time, Newcastle West led by 1-1 to 0-3, with Jamie Lee netting for the visitors in the third minute.
