Cork – Waterford Rivalry Resumes In Semple

Thursday 22 May 2014

Having met in some of the most memorable Munster Championship clashes of the past decade, Cork and Waterford kick-start the 2014 edition with a potentially fascinating Quarter-Final tie at Semple Stadium. The Rebels have not tasted provincial glory since 2006 and despite narrowly failing to land the Liam MacCarthy last year, captain Patrick Cronin believes his side must focus fully on the challenge posed by The Deise given the tight nature of their recent Championship duels. Waterford begin a summer without stalwart Tony Browne for the first time in more than 20 years and defender Stephen Daniels admits that the panel is in transition following some high-profile retirements and last year’s Minor All-Ireland success.
