Doon 2-13 Charleville CBS 1-13

Report from the Irish Independent newspaper

Scoil Na Trionaide Naofa Doon made it through to the semi-finals for the second year in a row with a hard-earned win at the Gaelic Grounds. Limerick minor Colin Ryan played a key role in the victory, scoring 1-5 from frees and another point from play.

Doon had a great start when Fiach O’Grady grabbed a fourth-minute goal after a free fell short and was not cleared. But Jack Buckley’s goal brought Charleville back level at 1-2 each after 10 minutes. The game took a dramatic turn after 17 minutes when Charleville lost corner-back Darren Butler to a straight red card after Doon had scored a point.

Despite this setback, Charleville were just a goal behind at half-time, and only two points separated the teams at the three-quarter stage. A splendid point by JP Molloy cut the deficit to a single point with eight minutes left but being short a man took its toll in the closing stages.
