“Tonight I am delighted to propose the nomination of Seán Walsh for the position of Uachtarán Tofa Cumann Lúthchleas Gael at next year’s GAA Annual Congress.

Seán Walsh has all of the experience as a player and administrator with his club, Moyvane, to keep his focus firmly on the GAA club, the most fundamental and important unit of the Association at the forefront, that is playing the games and providing players with the best possible facilities to play their games. As Kerry County Board Development Officer and later as County Chairman his experiences as a player and club administrator inspired his commitment to the games, the players and the clubs. As Munster Council Chairman he continued that commitment to the games, the players and the clubs through putting a strong emphasis on Club Development projects and on Coaching and Games Development projects in the province.

His administrative skills with his club for 12 years began while he was still playing with his club and following that he served for 10 years as Development Officer of Kerry County Board followed by 10 years as County Board Chairman. As County Board Chairman, among his greatest achievements was presiding over one of the most successful eras of the GAA in Kerry. He served as Vice Chairman of the Munster Council for 3 years followed by 3 years as Council Chairman and is currently an ex officio member of the Council. During that illustrious career of leadership in his club, county and province he is regarded as one of the finest and most astute administrators in the Association.

Now, the man who led his club, county and province with honour and distinction is ready to bring all of that experience and dedication to lead the GAA at national level. The essential attributes of a an effective leader are Honesty, Ability to Delegate, Communication, A Sense of Humour, Confidence, Commitment, A Positive Attitude, Creativity, Intuition and Ability to Inspire. Seán Walsh possesses all of these leadership attributes and qualities in abundance and tonight, I am proud to propose his nomination to lead the GAA as Uachtarán Tofa”.
