O’Dwyer Out To Cause Shock On Return To Munster Championship

Monday 10 June 2013

Mick O’Dwyer will be prowling the sidelines during a Munster Senior Football Championship game for the first time since 1989 when Cork are the visitors to Cusack Park on Sunday for their semi final clash against Clare (throw in3.30pm)
As Kerry manager, O’Dwyer lifted 11 Munster titles between 1975 and 1989 but were he to lead Clare to a shock victory over Cork it’s likely that it would be celebrated as wildly as any one of those trophy winning successes.
Clare had a solid league campaign in Division 4 but will be massive underdogs against a Cork team who hammered Limerick by 18 points last time out.
Conor Counihan has introduced a number of talented young players to go alongside some of his seasoned campaigners and few will be expecting anything other than a big Cork win but O’Dwyer has made a habit of surprising people throughout his remarkable career.
