13-man Cappamore battle to victory

By James Hayden for the Irish Examiner newspaper

Cappamore (Limerick) 2-07 Borrisokane (Tipperary) 0-06

13-man Cappamore overcame Borrisokane to book a Munster JFC quarter-final clash with Clarecastle following a tough encounter at rain-lashed Borrisokane yesterday. Playing into the stiff breeze, the Limerick champions opened up a 0-3 to 0-1 lead after just ten minutes. Cappamore pulled further ahead in the 14th minute when Murphy’s speculative shot ended up in the net. Borrisokane battled to get back into contention with captain Philip Austin on target from close-range frees but still trailed by four at the break, 1-4 to 0-3. Cappamore dominated from the restart but in the closing quarter they had Declan Deere and Denis Keating dismissed for second bookable offences. Borrisokane bagged two late consolation points from Philip Austin and Enda Forde but had Tadgh Slevin dismissed late on.
