Fermanagh fight back to secure points

Fermanagh 0-11 Clare 0-8

By Colm Bradley for the Irish Examiner newspaper

Peter Canavan’s Fermanagh side came from behind to secure a win over Clare at Brewster Park. There was stunned silence at the break as Clare led by three points.  Rory Donnelly, David Tubridy and David Russell, who replaced the injured Ger Quinlan at midfield, impressed in that opening half for the Banner.  But Fermanagh were a changed outfit on the restart, with sub Shane McCabe leading by example. Corner-forward Paul Ward benefited most from McCabe’s vision, kicking three points from play, while Seamus Quigley landed six from placed balls. With three points between them David Tubridy had a snap shot well saved by Chris Snow in the Fermanagh goal to deny the Banner a share of the spoils.
