National Football League Round 2 – Results

Tuesday 4 March 2008

Kerry 0-12 Tyrone 0-9 – Kerry put in a strong display to defeat Tyrone by three points at Tralee on Saturday night. Two points each from Sean O’Sullivan and Bryan Sheehan helped Kerry to an 0-8 to 0-5 lead at half-time and the Kingdom held on in the second in spite of good pressure by Tyrone.

Offaly 1-11 Tipperary 1-7 – Thomas Deehan slotted in a fine goal for Offaly as they edged past Tipperary in a tight game that ended 1-11 to 1-7 at O’Connor Park. The Faithful County were in front for the majority of the game with Niall McNamee standing out with eight points. Tipperary attempted to fight back with Barry Grogan scoring a penalty, but it wasn’t enough to propel them into the lead.

Waterford 2-9 Kilkenny 0-8 – Two first-half goals helped Waterford to secure a 2-9 to 0-8 win over Kilkenny at Freshford. Wayne Hennessey and Ger Power got the goals as The Deise started to stamp their mark on the game and pile the pressure on as they led by 2-5 to 0-4 at the interval. Any hope that Kilkenny had of pulling the scores back level were shattered when Michael Mahoney was sent off.

Antrim 1-13 Clare 0-3 – Antrim hammered Clare with a final scoreline of 1-13 to 0-3 as they cruised to victory in Ennis without much trouble. Michael McCann was the star player for The Saffrons as he smashed in an early goal and led by example as his team triumphed over the hosts. The Banner County failed to convert any scores in the last quarter of the game, and Antrim took full advantage.

Limerick vs. Fermanagh – match postponed due to fog.
